General Information & Sale Notes LOCATION: The sale will be held in the Borderway Mart, Carlisle Cumbria. Motorists should leave the M6 at Junction 43 and follow CARLISLE signs. The Market is on the left hand side of the road within 1/4 mile of M6.

VIEWING - The Sale Sheep will be available for viewing at Borderway Mart, Carlisle on Friday 6th December. Prior viewing of the sheep is most welcome, please contact vendors direct - see page 8.

HOTELS - There are many hotels within the area, ranging from four star to excellent Bed and Breakfast accommodation, a list of which may be found in the catalogue.

CONDITIONS OF SALE - The Pedigree and Description of each lots and all information as to service sire dates and health are believed to be correct. Sold under the conditions of sale as displayed in the market, recommended by the Livestock Auctioneer’s Committee for England and Wales.

METHOD OF SALE - All sheep will be sold in guineas (105 pence) and strictly in catalogue order, unless any alteration is announced by the Auctioneers.

COMMISSIONS - The Auctioneers will dutifully execute commissions to purchase for buyers unable to attend the sale personally, upon receipt of written instructions.

The Roundacre Flock was established in 2005 with top females being purchased from Stockton and Strathisla flocks. Over the years further additions of top females have been made from Lakeview, Deveronside, Knokem and Kings flocks.

From the outset it was the flock’s policy to breed sheep with good legs, top and back ends with plenty of style and character.

Sales of ram lambs from the flock have peaked at 6000gns on three occasions for Roundacre Rockstar Edinburgh 2009, Roundacre Rafiki Stirling 2017 and Roundacre Reggae sold privately 2018. This year the flock has sold Big Bang for 5000gns to Sitlow and Pexhill flocks with many others selling a four figure sums.

Females have peaked at 5800gns for a ewe lamb sold at Dark Diamonds 2016, 4000gns, 3000gns(x2) and 2000gns with many more sold privately. The 5800gns ewe lamb (Roxy) has since gone on to win Reserve Breed Champion on two occasions in 2017 and 2019 at RHS for the Knockum flock and a son from her won 1st prize ram lamb RHS 2019 and went on to sell for 4000gns at Stirling.

The Blackstown Flock was established in 2015 with gimmers purchased from Donbraid, Forkins and Lakeview flocks with emphasis on conformation, good skins, carcass and character. Our flock consists of a small number of ewes with the emphasis on quality not quantity. We have enjoyed show success over the last couple of summers particularly with some of these gimmers. The dam to several sale gimmers also bred the 1st prize novice ram lamb at Stirling 2019.

The Blackstown Flock is Scrapie Monitored.

The Birness Flock has featured amongst the top prices and leading flock averages in 2019. We were delighted to sell the Scottish Breed Champion at Stirling, Birness Muzza sired by Noah, to Ballynacannon, Limestone, Benedyglen and Mullanvale for 43,000gns. Birness Hustler sired by Legacy sold to the Crewelands flock for 10,000gns and Birness Boris sired by Megastar sold to Creagislay flock for 8000gns to give an average of £8050 for 9 sold.

The flock took Overall Champion at the National Sale, a son of Noah sold to D Harvey, Powys for 6000gns, also another Noah son sold to Lavenham flock for 7200gns to give an average of £3900 for 5 sold.

The Carony Flock was established in 1989 with a few ewe lambs, 5 further ewes where purchased at the Greyhill dispersal, 4 from Annakisha, 3 from Muiresk, 2 from Kirkton, 1 from Teeshan and several from Baileys. These foundation ewes became the backbone of the flock with a few other purchases from Conveth, Crewelands and Rhaeadr.

Over the years we have purchased rams that we felt would improve the flow and take it a step closer to where we want to be. Key exclusions or limitations The maximum amount payable for any one animal insured under a Luckpenny policy is ÂŁ150,000.

Claims involving any injury sustained or illness or disease first appearing before the start of cover will be excluded.

Slaughter for economic reasons or because the animal is incapable of performing the function for which it is kept is excluded.

Claims Handling Process If anything happens that may give rise to a claim, 1. if you are the policyholder, you must tell us as soon as possible, giving your name and policy number.

If a claim is being made against you: • do not respond to any writ, letter, claim or other documentation • send any writ, letter, claim or other documentation to us without delay • do not admit, repudiate or negotiate any claim.

2. if you are the purchaser of an animal insured you must immediately: i) obtain veterinary assistance ii) inform NFU Mutual, by contacting your local NFU Mutual office (or the office that issued the policy, if you know it), quoting a) the date and place of purchase b) the vendors name (and policy number, if you know it) c) the lot number.

We will not pay a claim unless either the policyholder or purchaser, 1. Tells NFUM or the police immediately (or in any event within seven days) if the loss is caused by a criminal act, riot, or malicious persons.

2. Supplies, at the policyholder’s own expense, details of the claim in writing. This includes any supporting information or evidence that we require.

3. Does not admit, deny, negotiate, or settle any claim without our prior consent.

4. Informs NFUM at least 24 hours before disposing of any carcase (other than disposal following death by anthrax or slaughter under any official scheme rules relating to the eradication of a specific disease).
