ALEX COLQUHOUN LTD, DENDOLDRUM FARM, INVERBERVIE, MONTROSE, ANGUS The BERVIE pedigree Holstein herd is situated on the east coast of Scotland between the cities of Dundee and Aberdeen just north of Montrose. The herd is owned by the Colquhoun family who are passionate dairy farms and breeders; their attention to detail in all aspects of the business is exceptional. The results speak for themselves as they have been awarded Top Dairy Farm in Scotland on two occasions in 2008 and 2014. The herd is currently averaging 11162kgs 3.66% 3.12% with a cell count of 88 and a calving interval of 380 days. The herd is mated using the World Wide Sire mating programme and the best genomic young sires are use. This unselected group of heifers are being sold due to heifer numbers increasing from the extra use of sexed semen. The herd health is exceptional, the herd is BVD accredited free and vaccinated for IBR. The herd has been Johne’s testing for over 20 years; there is on average one positive cow detected in the herd per year and there has not been a known Johne’s positive cow calf on the farm for years. All the youngstock from the herd came to Newhouse Farms and this group are all the heifers due from now until the end of September. Most of the heifers are coming to the Pedigree Angus with a few select heifers due to sexed semen. These are young heifers that display excellent strength and width combined with all the dairy qualities one expects from the Jersey breed. The genetics are impressive with high production and butterfat over 6% and protein over 4%. Hedeager Consult had spent a lifetime breeding a healthy herd with low cases of mastitis and the herd had been monitored for Johne’s for over 10 years. All these heifers are BVD accredited free and vaccinated for IBR in November. 182

I MARR, CULTERCULLEN, UDNY, ABERDEENSHIRE This is the first sale to commence the dispersal of the CULTERCULLEN Holstein herd on behalf of the Marr family who have been dairy farming in Aberdeenshire since 1936. Cultercullen Farm is situated north of the city of Aberdeen close to Oldmeldrum. The Marr family have been passionate dairy farmers and had invested in a state of the art robotic milking system along with excellent youngstock rearing facilities however due to the broken milk marketing system we have in the UK they have been forced to cease milk production. The rest of the herd dispersal is planned for November at Borderway. The herd is currently averaging 11862kgs 4.01% 3.23% with a cell count of 122 and a calving interval of 391 days. The herd has been using the Genus GMS mating system for the past twelve years and the uniformity and strength of the animals is evident for all to see. The herd health is exceptional, the heifers selling are vaccinated for BVD and IBR and are BVD accredited free. The milking herd is accredited free of IBR, BVD & Lepto. Johne’s testing has been practiced for years. No cows have tested positive for Johne’s now for over three years. The herd is in four-year testing area and there has never been a case within the herd. 282

Sold under the conditions of sale as displayed in the mart recommended by the Livestock Auctioneers Association for England and Wales Please ensure all paperwork is handed into the office at least 1 hour before the animals enter the sale ring All cattle must be double tagged with Ministry approved tags and information supplied on the respective entry forms It is the responsibility of the buyer to ensure that any animals destined for the food chain are out with any withdrawal period. This includes antibiotics and anthelmintics that the seller may have given prior to sale. Payment will only be made to the exhibitor. No lots can leave the market without a pass slip being issued by the main office TB Testing: All cattle over the age of 41days moving out of yearly testing herds must be premovement tested within 60 days prior to the sale. The yearly TB testing interval of the herd consignment will be provided on the display board at the point of sale. The yearly testing interval will be signified by the numbers 1 or 4. The information is given for guidance only, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd accept no responsibility for any consequences of such information All purchasers have two working days from the time of sale to satisfy themselves that all documentation received is correct and any discrepancies must be notified to the auctioneers within the time limit No cow or heifer in the last 10% of pregnancy (approximately 27 days), or that has given birth in the last week, are considered not fit for transport, and are also unfit for presentation at a market. UDDER WARRANTY Unless otherwise stated or announced, any cow or heifer in-milk at the time of the sale shall carry a Vendors Warranty that she is correct in udder and teats at the time of sale. Any claim under this warranty must be notified to the Auctioneers within one hour of the close of the sale, which can be submitted on an oral basis. If the auctioneers are satisfied that the udder is not correct in all respects, and does not comply with the warranty given, the sale of the animal can be cancelled.
