COWS AND HEIFERS IN-MILK JM RAMSEY & SON, THE GRANGE, SCORTON, RICHMOND, N YORKSHIRE
This is the second sale to disperse the COLBECK Pedigree Holstein herd for Mr Ramsey who is retiring from dairy farming. The herd will be sold as they calve and these 17 are the most recently calved cows and heifers. Currently the herd is averaging 8432kg 4% 3.35% and have been grazing day and night for the past three weeks. There is potential for these animals to produce more milk if encouraged to do so. The winter ration is grass silage, brewers grain and fodder beet, they are cubicle housed in winter and milked twice a day. Herd Health The cows are vaccinated with RotaVec at drying off and the herd is tested clear of Johnes. The farm is in a four-year TB testing, there has never been a case of TB in the herd. 1

After a Ministry compulsory purchase in 1995, which meant a loss of land, and cubicle sheds which housed the young stock, the decision was made to move to a flying herd and the cubicles on farm were extended to accommodate up to 75 cows. Since then Beef bulls have been used on the herd and for the last 20 years the Charolais has produced excellent calves which have achieved great prices at the Carlisle sales. Now the time has come to gracefully retire from the dairy business and enjoy a little more free time. Herd health Herd is cubicle housed. Literage last recorded on 14/06/21. Sold under the conditions of sale as displayed in the mart recommended by the Livestock Auctioneers Association for England and Wales Please ensure all paperwork is handed into the office at least 1 hour before the animals enter the sale ring All cattle must be double tagged with Ministry approved tags and information supplied on the respective entry forms It is the responsibility of the buyer to ensure that any animals destined for the food chain are out with any withdrawal period. This includes antibiotics and anthelmintics that the seller may have given prior to sale. Payment will only be made to the exhibitor. No lots can leave the market without a pass slip being issued by the main office TB Testing: All cattle over the age of 41days moving out of yearly testing herds must be pre-movement tested within 60 days prior to the sale. The yearly TB testing interval of the herd consignment will be provided on the display board at the point of sale. The yearly testing interval will be signified by the numbers 1 or 4. The information is given for guidance only, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd accept no responsibility for any consequences of such information All purchasers have two working days from the time of sale to satisfy themselves that all documentation received is correct and any discrepancies must be notified to the auctioneers within the time limit No cow or heifer in the last 10% of pregnancy (approximately 27 days), or that has given birth in the last week, are considered not fit for transport, and are also unfit for presentation at a market.
UDDER WARRANTY Unless otherwise stated or announced, any cow or heifer in-milk at the time of the sale shall carry a Vendors Warranty that she is correct in udder and teats at the time of sale. Any claim under this warranty must be notified to the Auctioneers within one hour of the close of the sale, which can be submitted on an oral basis. If the auctioneers are satisfied that the udder is not correct in all respects, and does not comply with the warranty given, the sale of the animal can be cancelled.
