• Please remember that purchaser spaces will be limited, so only ONE person per business will be allowed entry • No children under 16 years old will be able to attend the sales and this must be strictly adhered to as entry will be refused • Pregnant ladies must not attend the sale • 2m social distancing must be observed wherever possible • Viewing will be regulated by a one-way system throughout the mart and is to be permitted for registered buyers only. Please refer to individual sales for the respective Viewing days and times • Face coverings are mandatory for all persons entering the mart. These must be worn without exception while in the market including the sales rings and pens • To facilitate the Test and Trace system, all customers/visitors will be required to sign into the market. This process will include a declaration that they have not been in contact with anyone displaying symptoms of COVID-19, nor are displaying symptoms personally • Hand sanitiser stations will be available throughout the mart; however, it is strongly recommended that both consignors and buyers have an adequate personal supply and to use it regularly • Please follow instructions from market staff and security staff. A private security firm will be in attendance to assist H&H in ensuring social distancing is observed wherever possible • Strictly no private videoing/broadcasting on Social media, or phones etc in the pens or ring • If you are unable or do not wish to attend the mart but would like to bid on animal(s), then the auctioneers will faithfully execute commission bids for buyers. GEORGE H PIRIE & SONS, BACKHILL FARM, KINGSWELL, ABERDEEN This is the final sale to disperse the BACKHILL Holstein herd for the Pirie family who have been dairy faming at Backhill Farm, Kingswell, Aberdeen since 1934. They have had to sell their cows due to losing their milk contract, they have been supplying Tesco for several years. This group of 30 cows and heifers in milk comprise 9 recently calved animals with the remaining animals all conformed pregnant and due in the spring of 2021 to the British Blue. These animals are all sired by top proven sires including; De-Su Freddie Galaxy, Heidenskipster Beart, Mapel Wood Builder and Hartline Jareb. This is a productive herd of cows with the current production averaging 9421kgs 3.98% 3.12% and this group of late lactation cows are averaging 32kgs. The cows are milked using Lely A2 robots that were installed 18 years ago and graze from early spring to late autumn. No animals have been purchased since 1985 and herd does not footbath and there has never been any signs of dermatitis within the herd. The herd is BVD accredited free and is vaccinated for Lepto. They are all tested clear of Johnes and are category level 3. They had one cow test positive for Johnes in the last test and she has now left the herd. The herd is situated in a four year testing area and there has never been a case of TB on the farm. The last herd test was in August 2018. 95

This final sale comprises 17 freshly calved cows, 50 late lactation cows all confirmed pregnant for March/April and 16 strong Irish Freisian bulling heifers 15/16 months old. These animals are well bred Irish Holstein Friesians with high EBI values up to €185. He current herd average is 6300khs 5.45% butterfat and 4.02% protein on 900kgs of concentrate. Sale Conditions
Sold under the conditions of sale as displayed in the mart recommended by the Livestock Auctioneers Association for England and Wales Please ensure all paperwork is handed into the office at least 1 hour before the animals enter the sale ring All cattle must be double tagged with Ministry approved tags and information supplied on the respective entry forms It is the responsibility of the buyer to ensure that any animals destined for the food chain are out with any withdrawal period. This includes antibiotics and anthelmintics that the seller may have given prior to sale. Payment will only be made to the exhibitor. No lots can leave the market without a pass slip being issued by the main office TB Testing: All cattle over the age of 41days moving out of yearly testing herds must be premovement tested within 60 days prior to the sale. The yearly TB testing interval of the herd consignment will be provided on the display board at the point of sale. The yearly testing interval will be signified by the numbers 1 or 4. The information is given for guidance only, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd accept no responsibility for any consequences of such information All purchasers have two working days from the time of sale to satisfy themselves that all documentation received is correct and any discrepancies must be notified to the auctioneers within the time limit No cow or heifer in the last 10% of pregnancy (approximately 27 days), or that has given birth in the last week, are considered not fit for transport, and are also unfit for presentation at a market. UDDER WARRANTY Unless otherwise stated or announced, any cow or heifer in-milk at the time of the sale shall carry a Vendors Warranty that she is correct in udder and teats at the time of sale. Any claim under this warranty must be notified to the Auctioneers within one hour of the close of the sale, which can be submitted on an oral basis. If the auctioneers are satisfied that the udder is not correct in all respects, and does not comply with the warranty given, the sale of the animal can be cancelled.
