IAN MARR, CULTERCULLEN, UDNY, ELLON, ABERDEENSHIRE This is the first sale to dispersal of the CULTERCULLEN Holstein milking herd on behalf of the Marr family who have been dairy farming in Aberdeenshire since 1936. These 34 cows and heifers are the most recently calved animals in the herd and are currently averaging 45kgs. Cultercullen Farm is situated north of the city of Aberdeen close to Oldmeldrum. The Marr family have been passionate dairy farmers and had invested in a state of the art robotic milking system along with excellent youngstock rearing facilities however due to the broken milk marketing system we have in the UK they have been forced to cease milk production. The rest of the herd dispersal is planned for later in the year at Borderway. The herd is currently averaging 11862kgs 4.01% 3.23% with a cell count of 122 and a calving interval of 391 days. The herd has been using the Genus GMS mating system for the past twelve years and the uniformity and strength of the animals is evident for all to see. The herd health is exceptional, the animals selling are vaccinated for BVD and IBR and are BVD accredited free. The milking herd is accredited free of IBR, BVD & Lepto. Johne’s testing has been practiced for years. No cows have tested positive for Johne’s now for over three years. GEORGE H PIRIE & SONS, BACKHILL FARM, KINGSWELLS, ABERDEENSHIRE This is the first sale to disperse the BACKHILL Holstein herd for the Pirie family who have been dairy faming at Backhill Farm, Kingswell, Aberdeen since 1934. They have had to sell their cows due to losing their milk contract, they have been supplying Tesco for several years. This group of 34 cows and heifers in milk are mainly later in lactation and all are confirmed pregnant and due from November onwards to the British Blue. The remaining animals will be selling on the 7th October at Borderway. These animals are all sired by top proven sires including; De-Su Freddie Galaxy, Heidenskipster Beart, Mapel Wood Builder and Hartline Jareb. This is a productive herd of cows with the current production averaging 9421kgs 3.98% 3.12% and this group of late lactation cows are averaging 32kgs. The cows are milked using Lely A2 robots that were installed 18 years ago and graze from early spring to late autumn. No animals have been purchased since 1985 and herd does not footbath and there has never been any signs of dermatitis within the herd. The herd is BVD accredited free and is vaccinated for Lepto. They are all tested clear of Johnes and are category level 3. They had one cow test positive for Johnes in the last test and she has now left the herd. The herd is situated in a four-year testing area and there has never been a case of TB on the farm. The last herd test was in August 2018. 125

Sold under the conditions of sale as displayed in the mart recommended by the Livestock Auctioneers Association for England and Wales Please ensure all paperwork is handed into the office at least 1 hour before the animals enter the sale ring All cattle must be double tagged with Ministry approved tags and information supplied on the respective entry forms It is the responsibility of the buyer to ensure that any animals destined for the food chain are out with any withdrawal period. This includes antibiotics and anthelmintics that the seller may have given prior to sale. Payment will only be made to the exhibitor. No lots can leave the market without a pass slip being issued by the main office TB Testing: All cattle over the age of 41days moving out of yearly testing herds must be premovement tested within 60 days prior to the sale. The yearly TB testing interval of the herd consignment will be provided on the display board at the point of sale. The yearly testing interval will be signified by the numbers 1 or 4. The information is given for guidance only, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd accept no responsibility for any consequences of such information All purchasers have two working days from the time of sale to satisfy themselves that all documentation received is correct and any discrepancies must be notified to the auctioneers within the time limit No cow or heifer in the last 10% of pregnancy (approximately 27 days), or that has given birth in the last week, are considered not fit for transport, and are also unfit for presentation at a market. UDDER WARRANTY Unless otherwise stated or announced, any cow or heifer in-milk at the time of the sale shall carry a Vendors Warranty that she is correct in udder and teats at the time of sale. Any claim under this warranty must be notified to the Auctioneers within one hour of the close of the sale, which can be submitted on an oral basis. If the auctioneers are satisfied that the udder is not correct in all respects, and does not comply with the warranty given, the sale of the animal can be cancelled.
