Sale Information INSPECTION: All sheep forward for sale will be subject to a Society Inspection. Any animal which does not reach the Inspection Standard will have a red mark put on their back, these animals will not be allowed to be sold and must be removed from the Sale pens immediately. The Inspector’s decision will be final. CONDITIONS OF SALE: Sold under the British Berrichon Sheep Society Sale Rules and the Livestock Auctioneers Terms & Conditions of Sale. All sheep will be sold in guineas. A commission will be charged at 5% on all sheep. The Pedigree and descriptions of the lots are believed to be correct, but are not intended as warranty, and therefore shall be taken with all faults and errors of description. Introduction to flocks Goitre Flock Established in 2001 through the purchase of 6 ewes and a ram, our numbers by now have risen to almost 250 ewes with 50 ram lams retained for selling as yearling rams each year. The flock is commercially run with only the best lambs kept each year. Our growth rates are measured at 6/7 weeks to ensure that only lambs with excellent growth from the best ewes with plenty of milk are retained. Showing is limited to the Royal Welsh Show and numerous successes have been had since Goitre flock started showing in 2002. Goitre has held 4 overall British Berrichon breed champions in the last 6 years. This success is the result of excellent breeding and ensuring we buy excellent genetics from some of the best rams available. Some of our show winning Goitre sheep are on sale today have been sired by Spring Prince Charmin who currently holds the Berrichon record sale price of ÂŁ3500gns.

Rakefoot Flock The Rakefoot flock was established in 1991 with the aim of producing correct easy fleshing sheep with naturally good skins for commercial and pedigree use. Whilst not showing as much these days the flock has enjoyed championship success at the Royal Highland and Great Yorkshire shows as well as Cumberland County and other shows. We believe we have one of our best consignments this year, breed notes are provided for the rams but we would also draw attention to the females offered for sale. In the past females we have sold at Carlisle have had some noted success, namely WJC11 009 which was sold as a ewe lamb to Martin Keeves and which is the mother of Headlands One in a million very successfully used in the Windrush flock. Also WJC14 011 sold as a shearling ewe in Carlisle to Clive Morse and the mother of this years Royal Welsh show champion exhibited by the Thomas family.

Windrush Flock The Windrush Flock was established in 2012 and since then our aim has been to breed quality sheep for both pedigree and commercial use which are correct, shapely and stylish with good skins and easy fleshing traits, that is, they keep their backs and have the ability to thrive and finish from grass alone. It is continually pleasing for us to see our stock performing so well for those that have purchased from us, both in the show ring and in the field, whether it be pedigree stock or commercial rams. Our light 2018 showing season has yielded great results thus far highlighted with taking the breed championship at The Royal Three Counties Show with our aged ewe. Our lambs, both from our progressive breeding programme, won their respective classes at The Great Yorkshire Show; Windrush Topman (lot ) was 1st prize ram lamb & reserve male champion and Windrush Talent (see photo below) was 1st prize ewe lamb & reserve female champion. And the Worcester Early First Choice Sale saw us win the ewe lamb class and top the female prices with Windrush Talent. This year’s premier sale consignment is made up of top quality lambs, some of which are sired by the renowned, late, French import ‘Muscleman’ and the others by our legendary stock ram, One In A Million.
