Bilboa Flock

Shearling Gimmers

SALE FROM THE BILBOA FLOCK R & P Machray The Bilboa Flock was founded in 2014 with the first purchase being a big bodied ewe lamb at the Thainstone Christmas Classic from the Woodies Flock. Since then, further foundation females were carefully selected from Woodies, Kingledores, Ardstewart as well as others with the main emphasis on back ends, size, correctness, as well as great colours. Most of the stock available will include Woodies Without a Paddle or Ardstewart Alyssa in their back pedigree. As well as females we initially started using AI with some of our favourite tups in the breed, namely, Airyolland Avici, Broxty Supreme and Todhall Sumo however in 2018 we purchased our first stock ram along with Aviemore being Kingledores Destroyer who bred very well for us. In 2020 we were also fortunate to make a steal on our current stock ram Matts Essentual who has bred extremely well for us and is father to all our homebred gimmers for sale at the dispersal (Matts Essentual will be for sale as an aged ram at Carlilse earlier in August). Over the years we have owned the Bilboa Flock, we are delighted to have had some great success in the show rings winning prizes for gimmers, shearlings and ram lambs at the various sales we attended, no mean feat given the small size of the flock.

•

1st Prize and Reserve Overall Champion and Thainstone ram sale.

•

3rd Prize ram lamb at Lanark Annual Show and sale.

•

Various prizes for gimmers and shearling rams at the Carlisle main sale regularly achieving 4 figure prices.

The flock is being sold through no fault of it’s own however, with a young family, full time job and other responsibilities, at this point in time, we have made the tough decision to sell the flock. We are very proud of our achievements and know the flock is where we would want it to be, we will watch on with interest to see how all the sale sheep perform for their new owners and hope to see them produce continued success stories going forwards.
