In the contemporary art scene, I try to rid myself from past taboos and use art history in order to convey compositions and images of tradition, viewed from the perspective of postmodern culture.
In order to have these art works I create "frozen" photos.
I place photos, of heroes of the 1821 revolution, in the water which I then freeze by creating successive layers of ice as is done in nature.
The shape of the "frozen" structure is round, resembling a medal, and thus this photographic series was named "Medals of Honor".
In the final stage, I subject the "frozen" structure to successive "thermal shocks" and begin their partial thawing.
I am interested in the play between past and present. As the ice melts, the photographs of the heroes are revealed.
