From The General Manager

BY DAVE TIMKO, CMCA, AMS, General Manager – PFCCA, Inc.

Phil the groundhog said six more weeks of winter!! Considering the winter that we have had so far, 6 more weeks cannot be that bad.

As the weather warms up, we will start to clean up the common areas in preparation for the spring. As the snow on the ground starts to melt, it unveils garbage and trash that was disposed of along the roads within the PFCCA community. As many of you are aware, each spring we work in partnership with Penn Dot (Pennsylvania Department of Transportation) along with many community volunteers to clean up the main roads within Pocono Farms. This is typically scheduled around Earth Day, which is near the middle of April. Watch your emails for more information about signing up to participate in this one-day event.

With a little less than average snow fall this winter, we are anticipating a potential earlier start to the golf season. We usually attempt to open our course in mid-April, weather depending. Whenever our Superintendent tells us that we can open the course full time without causing any damage, we will do so. Coming off a good year in 2022 where we witnessed the golf membership end at 233 members and rounds of golf up by 1,500 over the course of the 2022 season, we are excited to pick up on that trend in 2023.

Once we are confident that we will not have to spread any more cinders, we will send our maintenance staff out in the cul-de-sacs with our blowers and equipment to blow off the roadways and clear them of most cinders. We usually will wait until there is a day with a light drizzle or rain so as to not stir up as much dust.

As winter draws to a close and we begin to experience warmer temperatures, more members will be looking forward to the summer season. At this point, we are still on schedule to re-open the pool for Memorial Weekend. We will be putting out a separate document explaining where we are at in the process and what else needs to be completed to accomplish this goal.

Have a GREAT Spring!!!
