All Directors shall serve a term of three (3) years and shall be without pecuniary compensation. Board member seats shall continue to rotate as staggered terms whereby the terms of three (3) seats shall expire each year. After the expiration of a Director’s first three (3) year term, he/she may seek a second term through the normal election process. All Directors may not succeed themselves at the expiration of two (2) consecutive terms. As with past practices, the candidate bios will appear in the community newsletter, the Weathervane. Please take a moment to review each bio. A printed ballot will be sent to all members of the Association by the print house that produces the balloting packet for the Association, by first class mail with a return envelope addressed to an outside agency as selected by the Board of Directors. The outside agency who will perform the Judge of Elections duties, as selected by the Board of Directors at the April 26th 2019 board meeting, is Zavada & Associates. All election ballots, once completed by the member, will be mailed directly by you, to the Judge of Elections. The Association, not any of its Directors, staff, or management is involved in the tabulation of votes. Procedures are followed to properly ensure a secret vote. All Board of Director election ballots must be received by the Judge of Elections ten (10) days prior (July 10th) to the Annual meeting – July 20th, 2019. Ballots received from members not in good standing will be disqualified. The voting packet will be sent to the addresses the Association has on file at the Administration Office. The ballots themselves will be sent out towards the middle of June (around June 19th) to ensure a timely response. The votes shall be tabulated by an outside agency – Zavada & Associates. The sealed envelope with the election results will be opened at the annual meeting. Those candidates receiving the highest number of votes for each open position shall be declared elected in order of the number of votes received.

It’s June. Mother Nature has decorated the Farms in green. The leaves have blossomed and the grass has grown. The weather is perfect to enjoy the outdoors. For the last few years, June has produced the best weather; not too hot and not too cold. Hopefully, you will be able to take advantage of the many activities that we have at the Farms. Your Board and staff have tried to offer you a wide variety of activities for you to take advantage of. The summer season is starting. Our kids/grandkids will be out of school; our swim team will begin daily practices; and our sporting amenities will be in full swing. Whether you like tennis, pickle ball, bocce, golf, or all of them, you will be able to enjoy them in the nice June weather. Our pool and beach will be open and our Lakeside Grill and Pub is always ready to meet your food and beverage needs. The Farms will be alive with all of the outside activities.

June has arrived. I pray the sun is shining and those seemingly endless rainclouds are few and far between. That being said I just want to touch upon a few subjects. The first is grass.You should be mowing. I know it has been wet, but it must be done. Now most of you are on top of this, but there are those of you, you know who you are, who have yet to cut their grass. Please rectify this. The next item is please be considerate to your neighbors. Summer is upon us, school is out and the sun and warmth is all around. But please don’t play your music too loud, or whatever the ruckus may be just don’t let it get to loud. Remember the darker it gets at night, the quieter it should get also. Lastly even though it is June, I want to get an early jump on this. Fireworks. The laws have changed and it is legal for PA residents to buy aerial fireworks. The thing is, the rules of Pocono Farms have not changed and only ground effect fireworks are authorized. Please just enjoy our fantastic annual Fourth of July fireworks celebration and do not have one in your driveway. I want to thank all of you in advance for your cooperation. Did the rainy season finally end or are we in for another year like last year. I know the golfers are hoping to get back to normal. Even the gardeners want a normal year by Pocono standards. June brings all the snowbirds back together for the first time since October. More eyes can only be a plus for the Community, unless of course you have not taken care of things around the yard as planned. Every June, the drivers get together for the annual luncheon at the Lakeside Grill and Pub. Here, we see many of the others that are spending time roving the roads. In some cases, this is the only time drivers get to see each other. This year it is on June the eighth. Although all has not been finalized at this writing, we will have a general update of the happenings on the community over the past year by Dave Timko, General Manager, and our codes officer, Artie Furman. First reports after The Community Clean Up Day are positive. Now the trick is to keep it up. Do not hesitate to call a litter drop into the codes official, he will know who to contact for pickup. Also, if you see someone dumping, give him any information you can. Along with spring clean up, some home owners choose this time to put a new coat of paint on their house. A new coat of paint does wonders for the look of a well kept property. Before you begin the task, it would be wise to stop in to see the code official to review the colors that are allowed in the community. Recent reports of an unusual color brought to mind that maybe everyone did not read about the use of acceptable colors that were agreed upon when moving into the community. Generally they are called earth tones, and are not so restricted that one would have difficulty picking a color they would like. Recently I was speaking to someone about the use of the police “non-emergency number”. It can be used for events that you would like an officer to look at. But not necessarily an emergency such as a break-in, accident, etc. We have called them to check a suspicious car or a loud music complaint. In all cases, they have been very responsive and appreciate that 911 be used for true emergencies. That number is 570-992-9911. In April, our 13 drivers patrolled for 84 hours within the community. Major Holidays that will affect your collection days are: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, and Christmas. When those holidays fall on a Tuesday, garbage collection will be on Wednesday. ANIMALS: Dogs must be leashed or on owner’s property at all times. Wildlife, such as deer and black bear, are common at Pocono Farms. We ask that you NOT FEED any wild animals. I have provided photographs that have been displayed in our community restaurant, offices, website, pro shop and community advertising. I am also a member of the fitness center, and the bocce & dart leagues. Describe any skills, talents, or specialized training, which as a Board Member, you feel will be beneficial to the community: BS in Ed & MA Seton Hall University. My work experience primarily involved small business owners, contractors, professionals, and several homeowner associations very similar to PFCCA. What is your motivation for seeking a seat on the Board of Directors? Pocono Farms is my home! I want the best community possible to benefit all of our present and future residents. If elected, in what areas do you hope to influence the Board concerning the direction and governance of this community? Pocono Farms has experienced many periods of growth over the years. Prior Boards have always addressed the immediate situations facing residents. We must continue in a fiscally responsible manner, but long range planning should become a greater priority. Why should the membership elect you to the Board of Directors? I have many years experience working with our community management and board. I will try to be positive and objective while listening to all. Per an old quote “Life doesn’t require that we be the best, only that we try our best.” CERTIFICATION: I, Jim Ribardo, if elected, will bear my full share of the work of the Board and intend to serve a full term. 4/18/19

I have also been active in the local United Way and Most Holy Trinity Church. Describe any skills, talents, or specialized training, which as a Board Member, you feel will be beneficial to the community. I have managed a 300 employee business that generates approximately $100,000,000 in sales annually for 13 years. This has allowed me to develop the skill sets of listening to others, dealing successfully with people of diverse backgrounds and being financially responsible. What is your motivation for seeking a seat on the Board of Directors? To help keep Pocono Farms moving in the right direction by offering our members the programs and amenities they want while at the same time insuring our community is financially sound. If elected, in what areas do you hope to influence the Board concerning the direction and governance of this community? Continue the recent success we have had of collecting dues from all of our members and investing that money wisely. Do everything possible to insure our dues are spent on things that bring value to our community and increase our property value. Why should the membership elect you to the Board of Directors? Not only have I lived in Pocono Farms for 23 years but I have both children and grandchildren that have bought homes and live here full time. As a resident I have a very strong desire to make sure that Pocono Farms is a great place to live for people of all ages.

The Board has created an email address that residents may use to submit comments, questions, and suggestions. Valid emails, must include the full name and Pocono Farms address of the sender. Which will then be forwarded to a current board member. Responses to emails will be sent directly to the sender and periodically published in the Weathervane or included in regular email blasts. Publication of submitted questions and answers will help you and your fellow community members stay current with what is happening within the community. Describe any skills, talents, or specialized training, which as a Board Member, you feel will be beneficial to the community. VP of National Property Insurance Company, Executive VP of Insurance Broker; Positions included responsibilities for staffing, budget development/control and growth. Negotiated on a daily basis with CEO’s and CFO’s of Fortune 1000 companies. These skills transfer to the running of a community association. What is your motivation for seeking a seat on the Board of Directors? The Community has been successfully digging itself out of the setbacks caused by the depression started in 2008. In spite of declining revenues, the Board and Management team have managed to control expenses and continue on a positive path. Investment in the community’s future has continued while I served on the board. I want to be part of continuing this. If elected, in what areas do you hope to influence the Board concerning the direction and governance of this community? To continue to maintain and improve the assets and amenities of our community. Why should the membership elect you to the Board of Directors? I have a good understanding of what the majority of our community members desire regarding what Pocono Farms is presently and should be in the future. I will continue the effort I put forth in my last term on the Board of Directors.
H UGH DOR A N If you want your HOA to put your needs and those of your property FIRST, you need to vote me onto your Board. Our current team most of whom has stayed the same for years and just rotated titles, is not in favor of the countless changes that I have been proposing at their monthly meetings for almost a decade. Discussing my background is not really what matters as I hope you care foremost about enjoying and improvement in your property value, greater wisdom in how your dollars are spent and in a reduction of your annual Association fee. So briefly, since I have to speak about this, I am a Vietnam Veteran and I am retired from a lengthy union career as an operations engineer, a shop steward and the manager of a commercial building. Of greatest importance, on my more than thirty years as a PFCC homeowner and resident, not only have I been an active participant in various committees and faithfully attended monthly PFCC Board meetings though, regrettably, most often as the only homeowner present, I have remained well informed of our Board’s management of our finances and fluent in our Association’s bylaws, codes, and regulations. If you have met me, you know that I did not author this introduction. It was written by an anonymous resident who believes in my capacity to create change. I recently took the opportunity to meet individually with a great many PFCC homeowners and they shared enormous discontent and a sense of powerlessness. Each told me that the reason for not attending the annual meetings is the firm belief that noting in our community will ever improve and that efforts toward such are futile. I’m a rough-around-the-edges kind of guy, I’m not polished and I don’t hesitate to speak my truths so I’m not likely to be elected PFCC’s Most Congenial Fellow. But I am known to be fluent in the past and current decisions made by our Board and know to be honest and ethical and to at all times represent the needs of our homeowners. If you believe that we need a change, you must vote for me. Also, you must consider running for the Board as I cannot do alone that which is necessary and need the support of others who seek change. Lastly, you must vote via your mailed ballots and at the Annual Meeting scheduled this year at 10 AM on Saturday, July 20th at the Pocono Community Church. I beg you to support improvements that will only come with change.
A NN A LOPEZ What is your Occupation? I am Anna Lopez and I’m a Wife, a Mother of Five and a successful Business analyst and activists for over 20 years. I have worked with corporations, non-profits and unions to improve competitiveness and performance across broad spectrums of criteria. Some of my specializations are in Education, Finance, Human Resources, Contracts, Health Care and Project Management. Please describe committees, clubs, volunteer work & other activities in which you have participated: I want to ensure both entity and people profit. With the improvement of life, work is to be done in skill and honor; I offer both. The importance of the pursuit of happiness is everything to me as a person, as long as you take experience and create the lemonade of life as I call it to enjoy every moment of the journey. Describe any skills, talents or specialized training, which as a Board Member, you feel will be beneficial to the community: I have worked with a federal grant of 3 million with CMO Montifiore proving that managed care can reduce medical cost and it did save Medicare $24.5 million in its first year with developing a program with a call center and nurse case management enrolling Bronx, NY residents to a pilot the program built from foundations and with people who believed in a possible solution; I want to bring my faith of solutions to the Farms. I have also developed a 6 million dollar Lead teacher project that was for teachers retention and principals development in a contracted role; with a Student achievement gap solution for students where most believed could not learn. which resulted in 45 present increase in state reading and math test in its first year within the worst 10 performing schools in the city; This is one of my Tracts of success where my belief and hard work achieved the impossible thought from many and against every odd in a huge city. I Then went to served as a NYC Education Board Member for 4 years including the retirement Board that out preformed all other funds compared to in the city of New York City Municipalities in our last economic crash; another tract of proven success that where I go and contribute has proven best. During my term as school board official I was instrumental in building new school buildings and restructuring the procurement process by which included the public and closer board oversights. I am a certified trained in project manager MCTS, Senior HR professional SPHR , Business Analysts CBAP, Technologist MT, Oracle Database 11g Administrator ODACP, NYC Government Procurements Certified, various systems operations such as but not limited to financial accounting with SAP certified. I also hold a dual B.A Degree in Economics and Political Science from Lehman College. MS in management and leadership concentration public Administration and Economics at ESU PA graduation date of 2020. What is your motivation for seeking a seat on the Board of Directors: With my prospective, ambition, motivation, beliefs and past successful professional experience I will add to a ever needed change to ensure our investments in the Farms will last for the next generation owners; A lasting legacy is important to me and I’m sure to many. However, I don’t want the farms legacy to effect our choices at our dinner tables. If elected, in what areas do you hope to influence to Board concerning the direction and governance of this community? Abby Denny has been a student of yoga for over 10 years. She began practicing yoga as a means to create calm and balance in a very chaotic time in her life. In her classes, she emphasizes the relationship between breath and movement. She tries to create a safe and nurturing environment where one can let go of one’s “stuff” if only for a few moments. Her goal is to create a community where relationships with yourself, and your yoga practice can be enough so that you can handle life’s twists and turns from a place of warmth and gratitude. She lives in northern New Jersey and is a part time resident of Pocono Farms. She is married to her soul mate and together they have raised 3 awesome kids. She enjoys golfing, yoga, photography, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her wonderful family. She currently teaches a variety of yoga classes in northern New Jersey including gentle hatha yoga and yoga for breast cancer survivors. Starting in June, she will be teaching a 5 week workshop on the breath, and in July, join her on Saturdays on the beach for early morning yoga. I look forward to meeting you on the mat. 500 HR R.Y.T. As a graduate of St. Barnabus School of Nursing, Colleen LaScala has been involved in the health and fitness profession for over 40 years. Colleen is a certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor thru AFAA, Athletics and Fitness Association of America. She has also obtained her 200 RYT through Yoga Fit. Colleen’s continuing education has led her to become certified in the following specialties: Zumba, Pilates, Cycling, Step and Step Choreography, and most recently, Barre and Senior Fitness (Golden Hearts). Colleen also travels several times a year throughout the Caribbean as a guest resort instructor thru Fit Bodies Inc, sharing her love and passion for fitness and yoga with others. She feels that regardless of age, weight, or life circumstances we all deserve to take care of ourselves and feel healthy. AFFA Personal Fitness Trainer ~ AFFA Primary Group Exercise ~ Golden Hearts – Senior Fitness Training ~ Zumba ~ RYT 200 : Yoga Alliance ~ Barre Above certified instructor Linda is our Chair Yoga, Stretch, Pilates and Body Sculpt instructor. She has always been passionate about physical fitness and has been a member of one gym or another for over forty-five years. She is committed to helping others see the benefits of physical fitness, with the encouragement of Colleen LaScala, she completed her Level One Yoga training from YogaFit Inc. in 2011; so she could start a stretch and gentle yoga class for the senior members of our community. Linda also has a Group Fitness Instruction certification from the American Sports & Fitness Association and is certified in Adult CPR/AED from the American Red Cross. Linda has been involved with physical fitness for most of her life and received her first group fitness instructor certification in 1979 from the YMCA in Montreal, Canada, where she was born. She moved to New Jersey in 1980 after marrying her husband, Bob, a native of Nutley, New Jersey. They bought their home in Pocono Farms in 1983 and moved here full time in 2006 when they retired from their professional life. Linda retired as Vice President of Nature’s Bounty Manufacturing. Linda has served on many Pocono Farms Committees including Fitness, Golf, Communications, Garden, and Welcoming. She and her husband also are involved in Crime Watch and Linda was instrumental in starting the Adopt a Spot program. Needless to say, she was thrilled with the development of the Fitness Center, loves our fantastic workout facility, and is proud to be a member of the instructor team. ASFA – Group Fitness/Bootcamp Instruction ~ YogaFit : Level 1
Krissie is a baby in the fitness industry compared to the other instructors here at PFCCA. She has been a full time fitness professional for just over four years. She is certified in the following specific platforms: PiYo, P90X, and TurboKick. She is also a certified group fitness instructor through Athletics & Fitness Association of America, AFFA. As an AFFA group certified instructor, she is required to keep up her continuing education. Therefore she has recently become certified in Sunrise Yoga, Group Resistance Training: Circuit Training, and Water Aerobics instruction. She is currently studying for her Personal Training Certification through AFFA as well. Krissie has been the Fitness Director at PFCCA for two and a half years and absolutely loves it. She is looking forward to bringing new classes and workshops to the center as well as pairing up with the Recreation Director to bring fitness to all age levels. Krissie is originally from Upstate New York and has been in the Poconos for about 10 years. She has two boys, a freshman in college and a senior in high school. She loves spending time with her family and her two puppies and feeling the sunshine on her face. Krissie is also a thyroid cancer survivor and has a deep rooted understanding and passion for helping others who struggle with their weight and motivation. She believes when life hands us lemons we should make lemonade, and that everything happens for a reason. Krissie currently teaches Sunrise Yoga and will be your Water Aerobics instructor this season. She is also looking forward to adding an Express Cardio class using the TRX trainers and Kettlebells as well as a PaddleBoard Yoga workshop this summer. All of our PFCCA instructors are CPR/AED certified and we all carry our own personal insurance as well. Being an instructor is not cheap or easy but, with the group we have here it is certainly FUN! Looking back at our many recreation activities last month, I would like to thank our dart league for a wonderful season. I would also like to acknowledge Renee and Michael Celentano as our 2019 Pocono Farms Dart Champions.

2019 POCONO FARMS GOLF SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS The Golf Scholarship process is one of the most rewarding of all the facets of being the golf chairman, as I am humbled by what these young adults have contributed to their respective schools as well as Pocono Farms Community. This year we awarded four total scholarships, three PFCCA golf scholarships and one Memorial scholarship. All recipients will be acknowledged during the Member/ Member dinner this year. It is with great pleasure to introduce the Four recipients for this year.
The Bob Stephens Memorial Scholarship: Mr.Thomas Gaudette Golf Scholarship: Mr. Anthony Novellino Mr. Matthew Galka Ms. Amanda Marie Moody
During the last eleven years the scholarship program has awarded over $ 42,000 to 39 Pocono Farms college bound students. Contributions to this fund are made through various golf outings and the individual generosity of our members. Scholarships have also been awarded through funds set up by family and friends memorializing past members of the club who gave so much of their time and effort to make Pocono Farms what it is today. As a note for future reference, applicants do not have to be golfers to apply or be awarded one of the scholarships. The criteria for the scholarships are listed on the application. As stated previously, the golfing members and golfing community of Pocono Farms sponsors and raises money to fund this scholarship program through various means, and the funds distributed come solely from golf and individual contributions.

Another huge thank you to our participants who came out to the PFCCA Community Cleanup Day! With 35 participants we were able to collect over 80 bags of trash to make Pocono Farms beautiful and ready for the summer season. With that being said, anyone who wants to continue to clean up the community you have the opportunity to do so by signing up for “Adopt a Spot” by emailing the recreation director. Looking forward to June we are now officially in the summer season which means we have some awesome events coming up! First off we have a Corn Hole Tournament on June 8th @ 2pm. Each team will have two players and will compete in a double elimination best of three tournament. So if you are looking for a fun day of some tailgate games, sunshine, and a nice cold beverage, then the Corn Hole tournament is for you. Sign up in the Administration Office before June 4th to reserve your spot! Next we have a trip that I have been looking forward to for a while now. On Friday, June 21st Pocono Farms will be hosting a trip to attend the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Rail Riders. Signing up for this event includes transportation, a ticket to the 3rd base Party deck, an all you can eat buffet, VIP entrance, access to the Legends Club, and firework show! Along with that the theme for the night is Star Wars. So, “may the force be with you” and compel you to sign up before you miss out! *Reminder that Pocono Farms Country Club is having their five day-long 4th of July events taking place July 3rd - 7th.
