Notes from the Manager BY DAVE TIMKO

This year’s Annual Meeting will be held on Saturday, July 20th at 10am. The Annual Meeting serves a few purposes. 1) It provides the Board an opportunity to update the community members in attendance with a status report on the performance of the community within the past year. This includes a message from the Board President and a financial update from the Board Treasurer. 2) The announcement of the directors to fill the 3 positions for the next term BOARD OF DIRECTORS: (3 years) is announced. 3) Any voting issues are presented and voted on by those members in President Steve Bunker attendance. 4) It provides the Board an opportunity to address any issues/challenges facing Vice President Neil Carlson the community. There will only be one voting issue presented this year. It is an oversight in Treasurer Collette Houston-Ong wording from an issue passed last year. Within the voting issue last year, where the amount of Secretary Wayne Meyers committees was condensed from 9 committees to 5 committees, and the amount of committee Director Richard McCormick members increased from 7 members to 9 members, the amount of associate members on a Director Annette Doerr committee should have been increased from 3 to 4 associate members, but not more than the Director Frank Milano majority of members on that committee. So that is it. The voting issue will be to increase Director Peter Volpe the amount of associate members on a committee from 3 to 4. There will not be an annual dues increase presented or voted on at the annual meeting this year. The Board discussed its Director James Yando options, as they do every year, COMMITTEE LIAISON ASSIGNMENTS: on whether or not a dues • A & B/Environmental / increase should be presented Host Your Event in for a vote at the annual Crime Watch James Yando Your Community’s meeting. From Your Board of Directors BY STEVE BUNKER

As you read this I hope we are having a spectacular Pocono summer and you are enjoying it here at Pocono Farms. It is so encouraging to see the many new faces who are taking advantage of our amenities here at the Farms. Every event I have had the pleasure to attend recently has had a very good turnout of both new and old friends. In particular, the events at the restaurant and over the Memorial Day Weekend had excellent crowds and very positive comments about the food and service. Hopefully you will read this in time to enjoy all the events that are planned for the July 4th weekend. If you are not already on the email list, please contact the Administration office to have your email added. The staff does an excellent job of keeping everyone informed of all the activities at Pocono Farms via email and on our website. One of the reasons most of us chose to live in Pocono Farms was because of the amenities we have to offer. The pool season is in full swing and you can go to the pool as many times as you would like for free!! I know some people think you have to be a member to play golf or enjoy the Fitness Center and yes, that is the best way because you can use those amenities an unlimited number of times for one price. However, in both cases, you can use those facilities one, two or ten times because you are a dues paying member of Pocono Farms Country Club for a nominal cost each time. This summer we will continue the work we started several years ago of upgrading the cul-de-sacs that we own. If work has not been done on your cul-de-sac in recent years yet it will be shortly. Please contact the Administration Office for details on which cul-de-sacs will be completed in 2019. Â Also, as a dues paying member, you are continuing to have your garbage picked up every week at no additional cost. This is despite the fact that even after bidding out our garbage contract and some tough negotiations by our staff our garbage cost will increase over $100,000 in the next 12 months. Â Despite this and because of the excellent cost containment of our staff I am happy to report that for the first time in a number of years at the July annual meeting your Board will NOT be asking for any dues increase for ANYTHING!! You read that correctly!! If you come to the annual meeting there will be NO vote on a dues increase!!

Lastly, we are always looking for additional volunteers for our committees. The Board is constantly looking to the various committees for recommendations that we can take action on. I would also encourage you to attend a Board meeting at your convenience so you can give feedback to us in person. I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful summer here at beautiful Pocono Farms!!

Jukebox Night

Public Safety BY A. FURMAN, DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SAFETY

July, summer is upon us.Yea! Let's hope that as you read this, Mother Nature has seen fit to space the rain storms a little farther apart. As I go around the Farms, I see activity everywhere. People working on their homes, which explains why I have probably handed out 75+ tree and building permits so far. I know the rain has been daunting for us all, but please get after those lawns. There are 3 topics I will address this month: 1. Fireworks. They are not allowed in the Farms. No one is trying to repress your celebratory nature. Which is why we put on a huge fireworks celebration every year. Any firework infractions that are seen; will result in fines. 2. The golf course. It really is a very nice course. We try extremely hard to keep the course in impeccable shape compared to other courses in our area. That being said, the golf course is made for that exact purpose.Yet, it never fails that every season I have to go onto the golf course to stop people from doing the following, most of which is while the course is open for play. A. It is not a dog walking park. Most of us love pets, but you are putting your pet and yourself in danger of being hit by golf balls. I tell you from experience, it hurts! B. Families going for a walk with toddlers and even baby carriages. The same goes for families going for bike rides. See the underlined above. C. Leaving the pool and cutting across the course including the green. Get the extra steps in and do not cut through the course. Again, see the underlined above. D. Lacrosse, soccer, football, softball, field hockey. The golf course is not intended for other sporting activities. Just golf.

Saturday July 20, 2019 8:00 pm FREE at the Lakeside Grill & Pub Come enjoy an evening of free tunes as DJ Nick spins the hits you choose!

Drink & Food Specials Available No Reservations Required

3. Pets at the amenities. Pets are not permitted at any amenity. You will see signs saying this posted at the beach and the playground, but it also is in your bylaws. Now the exception to this is if you have a properly documented service animal. Every year I have to ask someone to remove their puppy or a little kitten from the amenity areas. Please just leave your pets home. That’s it for now, but should you have any questions or concerns please feel free to call me, or just stop by, my door is always open.

The Board has created an email address that residents may use to submit comments, questions, and suggestions. Valid emails, must include the full name and Pocono Farms address of the sender. This class is Monday mornings at 8:30 am. Cardio Kickboxing is just as it says. We will kick, jab and hook to heart pumping music while toning our bodies. This class is fast paced but do not let that scare you! It is easily modified for all levels of fitness. Maybe we will even try a Glow Kickboxing class for added fun! This class will be held Thursday evenings at 6 pm. Yoga on the Beach returns for our third season but will be held on Saturdays this year. Meet on the beach for a relaxed yoga class with the soothing sounds of nature and warmth of the sun. Round by Round BY JIM RIBARDO

Pocono Farms is home to one of the most scenic yet challenging golf courses in Northeast Pennsylvania. Pictured above is the 3rd hole, a short par 3 that overlooks our beautiful lake. While rated the easiest hole, it is subject to a significant elevation drop and breezes off the lake. Admire the view, avoid the water! Sport fans around the world were excited when Tiger Woods won his 5th Masters tournament this past April in Augusta, Georgia. Many people here do not realize that Pocono Farms has a significant connection to the Masters. Our home course was originally designed and opened by Art Wall Jr. in the late 1960’s. A Pennsylvania native, Wall won the Masters 60 years ago in 1959 over Cary Middlecoff and defending champion Arnold Palmer. He was also a three time member of the United States Ryder Cup team. Do you want to play the course? All residents are eligible to play without signing up for annual membership. Each homeowner was given two golf vouchers when the dues have been paid in full. Contact the Pro Shop to make a tee time, use the practice range, or schedule a lesson.
