WHY WE HAVE FREEDOM
LLV Vets Honor Veterans Day Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018, Veterans Day, marked the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, which was called “the war to end all wars.” The day was observed by Village Veterans with LLV’s annual memorial ceremony held that morning at the LLV flag pole located on the south lawn of the Administration Building. Former Chief Security Ranger Andy Gross, who served in the Army as a Sergeant First Class, led the ceremony. After calling the LLV unit to

Board Approves 2019 Budget
Did Winter Come Early?
The LLV/POA Board of Directors approved the Village’s budget for 2019 in the amount of $1,992,083.20 at its board meeting held at The Chalet, Saturday morning, Nov. 17. Compared to the 2018 budget of $1,882,221.51, the budget for 2019 represents an overall increase of 5.84 percent. However, this breaks down to 4.6 percent per household.

We tried to fill needs rather than wants.” The finance committee met nine times in sessions lasting as long as five hours in developing the 2019 budget. Included in the budget are raises of 2 to 2 ½ percent for administration and

2019 Budget: Dues Increase A hearing for the LLV/POA 2019 budget, conducted by LLV Community Manager Don Fantry, was held Saturday morning, Nov. 10 at The Chalet. LLV/POA Board members in attendance were Diane DiSandro,
Vice-Chair Bob Christensen, Treasurer Bill Dorner, Chair Al Markin, and Tony Ruggiero.
Speaking on behalf of the Finance Committee, Fantry discussed the approach the committee took to finalizing a budget for 2019 in the amount of $1,992,083.20 which was to be submitted for LLV/POA Board approval at its monthly meeting on Nov. 17. He opened the hearing by saying that “when we first looked at the budget, we would have had to increase dues by $75, but we trimmed the fat to bring the increase down to $61.22. We cut our wish list in half and tried to fill needs rather than wants.” Fantry identified the major areas of increased spending:
Staff Salaries: An average increase of 3 ½ percent
