ATV RALLY

13th Running Of The ATVs Saturday, Aug. 5, marked the thirteenth running of the annual Locust Lake Village ATV (All Terrain Vehicle) Rally which offered both education and fun under near perfect weather conditions. Twenty-five ATV enthusiasts attended. “We want to preserve ATVs as an asset to the Village and a privilege to property owners,” said Chief Security Ranger Andy Gross, who with his staff organized the event. “We are the last private community in the Poconos to permit ATVs on our roads.” The rally was preceded by a safety seminar led by Gross, followed by ATV inspections, ATV driving skills evaluation, the rally itself, and an awards BBQ on the deck of The Chalet featuring “race track steak” prepared by volunteer cook Dave Krauter.

JULY/ANNUAL MEETINGS

Planning For LLV’s Future Prior to the monthly and annual meetings of the Locust Lake Village (LLV) Property Owners (POA) Board of Directors on Saturday, July 15, the Chalet took on the appearance of a political convention. As the large crowd continued to file in, candidates running for the LLV/POA Board of Directors circulated around the floor doing some campaigning, in advance of the board’s acceptance of their candidacies at the Annual Meeting. Candidates and ballot positions would be announced during the Annual Meeting.

LLV 2017 ELECTION RESULTS

July Monthly Board Meeting The monthly meeting was perfunctory in nature, and served as a prelude to the Annual Meeting. Discussion centered on ballot stuffing and distribution. Community Manager Dan Dougherty Jr. expressed concern over the added expense and burden on the office administration staff in preparing the ballots, stuffing them for mailing, and then holding them for count by the Election Committee.

Four Board Seats Filled The results of the 2017 election for the Locust Lake Village (LLV) Property Owners Association Board of Directors were announced at the board’s monthly meeting held at The Chalet on Saturday, Aug. 19.

Election Committee Chair Harry D’Onofrio reported that 1,058 ballots had been sent to property owners in

good standing and that 385 were cast to fill four open seats. Votes were received at the LLV Administration Building and deposited in a locked box. Mail votes were sent to LLV’s accounting firm and delivered sealed to the committee for counting on Aug. 16. D’Onofrio presented the results to the board: Bill Dorner: 244 votes* Diane DiSandro: 226 votes* Dee Kasarda: 212 votes* Bob Wolek: 187 votes** Tony Ruggiero: 168 votes Scott Beadenkopf: 138 votes George Leonhardt: 136 votes Mike Wilchek: 125 votes *Elected to three-year terms **Elected to a two-year term
