Great American Weekend LOCATION: First Presbyterian Church Park, 33 Park Place, Goshen WHEN: Saturday, July 4, 2015 - 9:00 am - 5:00 pm & Sunday, July 5, 2015 - 10:00 am - 5:00 pm RAINDATE: For Saturday only - Sunday, July 5, 2015 For over 30 years, since it began in 1982, the Great American Weekend continues to be more than just an event. It’s tradition that defines Goshen as a Great American Community. This year’s Great American Committee is pleased to once again invite you for a weekend steeped in tradition and fun! Originally began to bolster attendance at the Historic Track after betting was eliminated, the Great American Weekend offers activities for every member of the family and has grown into one of the County’s most prestigious events. Hudson Valley Magazine’s, Ted Speigel, wrote that our Great American Weekend is “arguably the Hudson Valley’s liveliest Fourth of July celebration. Twenty thousand people a day will stroll through the nine-acre village that surrounds the First Presbyterian Church, inspecting the offerings at 150 craft booths, grazing their way through a culinary snackopedia, and clapping approval for local entertainers.” The Great American Weekend has become a focal point of the Summer Season in Goshen and has drawn crowds from near and far. In addition to being a weekend filled with fun for all ages, this community event has sponsored many amazing programs that benefit the entire community in many ways. Revenues generated by vendors have culminated in Scholarships, grants and programs which serve the Greater Goshen area.
The 31St Annual Goshen Rotary 5K & 10K Races At The Great American Weekend The 31st Annual Goshen Rotary 5K & 10K will take place Saturday July 4th. Races Registration begins at 6:30 AM at Cataract Firehouse on Green Street, Goshen NY (just before the starting line) at the Great American Weekend. All are welcomed and encouraged to join!
Goshen Historic Track - The World’s Oldest Harness Track Grand Circuit Racing begins on Thursday, July 2nd and will feature New York Sire Stakes County Fair Races followed on Friday, July 3rd with the New York State Excelsior Series for pacers. Then on Saturday, July 4th the Landmark Stakes for 2 and 3 year olds along with the C.K.G. Billings Amateur Trots and the Catskill Amateur Drivers Club Paces will be presented. Featured Sunday, July 5th are sophomore trotters in the New York State Excelsior Series along with a race under saddle for horses and riders that have qualified during any one of the three June matinee programs.
