Pub Crawl

When guild told us pub crawls were high risk events, I laughed at them…but now I understand. WHAT A

was going to be the peak of our night. How wrong I was indeed. Subiaco Hotel gave us the classy stop we needed and despite a few little hiccups, everyone ended up hiccupping for other reasons ;) Next was Purl and, oh dear, never did I imagine that I would end up arguing with the owner of a bar for two extra free wine bottles…but hey it was worth it in the end. A little too worth it…I would tell you about the last bar, but the kebab shop was calling my name so The

UDSS JUNIOR SOCIAL REPRESENTATIVE

First of all, you’re all welcome Parni and I brought back the UDSS Pub Crawl. To those who’ve missed out, well you’ve missed out. It was definitely the best night of we’ve organised this year (in my opinion) and would do again. I mean, who doesn’t love pub crawls? Different bars, free drinks, party bus, and dress ups! I particularly loved the commitment to our theme, which was Superheroes (or Villains). And yes, Pikachu is totally a superhero. Ask those

random by-passers that requested for a photo with moí if you disagree. We managed to hit 4 bars in total (most of us anyway :P), each bar progressively diminishes in clarity, Purl Bar being the blank, but those stairs up to The Conservatory definitely jogged my memory, not by much unfortunately. Next thing I knew I had some vegan LOTF nuggets and I was jolly. So there you go! An event much needed to kick off the new semester and thanks to all of you for not spewing on the bus or do anything that required an incident report filled out. Xoxo!

The UDSS Committee would like thank the UDSS Soccer team (Dzikamai Hove, Andrew Liang, Shixiong Tai, Jonathan Wong and Daniel Zhang) for representing the UWA Dental School in the MSAND vs UDSS: Med vs Dent: Man vs Wild soccer match. Even with the lopsided score of 7 -2 in favor of the

Medical Students of Notre Dame soccer team, the game has become an instant classic in the hall of OHCWA due to the sheer willpower of the UDSS team to play their hearts out even in the face of defeat.

The Australian Society of Implant Dentistry (ASID) was established in 1969 and internationally is one of only eight component societies that head-up the world’s largest implant group – the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI) with its 25,000 members spread across the globe

The ASID runs educational programs for all dental practitioners in the field of implant dentistry, from new graduates through to experienced clinicians. New graduates have found that the ASID Levels I, II and III Courses have helped to de-mystify implantology, to educate in the basic scientific aspects required for this field, and to provide opportunities for clinical mentoring when required. Safety for the patient is a high priority with this education. More than 1500 young dentists have completed the ASID Accreditation Courses, which are advertised regularly in the ADA News Bulletin. We welcome you to join us as new graduates, in our 2016 series.

Colleagues are also encouraged to gather specific records in preparation for the definitive treatment of their patients, with safe, predictable and successful outcomes as a goal. Assistance and advice with cases can be just a phone call or email away, and uncritical help obtained.

We also support our more experienced members with advanced courses in our Beyond Programme where we invite experts from throughout the world to present the latest research and techniques in implantology.

In today’s world, knowledge about the scope and feasibility of implant dentistry is no longer just an option - it is essential. Patients expect it and even demand it.

The ASID stands ready to assist you as a new graduate to become confident in prescribing implant treatment when appropriate. The Society will assist you in your learning curve as you begin to undertake implant treatment yourself. Our Beyond Programme of more advanced tuition will assist you as you grow in confidence and ability in the field.

The Society looks forward to meeting you. You do not have to be a member of the ASID in order to register for the Accreditation Courses, though you are welcome to join at any time and enjoy the benefits.

UDSS EDUCATION REPRESENTATIVE

This year for R U OK Day the UDSS hosted an inaugural morning tea to encourage conversations between dental students. The morning tea included a selection of sweet and savory goods donated by dental students. Gold coin donations were accepted and $60 was donated to the R U OK Day organization.
