The front of the site faces the sea and features a pleasant 24-meterwide road. On the opposite sides of the site there are open playgrounds and training practice spaces for police marshals. At the rear of the site, there is a railway track that was needed to be considered during planning due to potential noise pollution and the risk of slight building vibrations.

MUSEUM DESIGN

SOCIOCULTURAL ARCHITECTURE

Academic Project- 5th Sem

Individual work

Project Scope:

Project Location- Mohali, Chandigarh

The project focuses on the concept of integrating the natural surroundings with the built structure in a manner that allows visitors to experience the beauty of nature while inside the buildings. The site has been divided along two axes: a sunken courtyard running throughout the length of the site along the longer axis, and a OAT along the shorter axis. This design provides visitors with unobstructed views from one end of the site to the other.

The primary objective was to draw and engage a larger number of people to the museum, encouraging them to explore and appreciate Punjab’s art and culture through temporary exhibitions and interactive activities conducted outside the museum premises. The project encompasses various buildings, each dedicated to different activities. These include an Auditorium, Skill Development Centers, Museum Halls, a Public Library, Residential Apartments, and an Office Building, among others.

At the heart of the museum building, there is a central staircase that facilitates a natural flow of movement and serves as a focal point, capturing the essence of the structure.
