Landscape Installation about Climate Crisis

This is a temporary installation revealing the struggle history of Qinghai Lake, Xiangyun, China. The installation is designed with four stages that manifest four different parts of the history about how climate changed the relationship between human and the lake. The installation is designed to incorporate one of the rituals of local torch festival, in which people will burn thread-bracelets to drive the bad things of the next year away. The idea is to borrow the burning moments as emotional exits for everyone who has visited the installation and held complex emotions from looking at the different stages of the lake. Behind every burnt thread, there is an unique story intertwining with complex emtions, from the drought, from the walls, from the fish, from the picnics and from the unknown future.
