American Heart Month is almost here, and this February the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) encourages people across the country to reduce their risk for heart disease.

A healthy lifestyle that includes regular physical activity, smart eating, maintaining a good weight, and not smoking, can substantially lower risk of heart disease and stroke.

Eligibility for KSAC Corporate Memberships apply to any NIH staff member who has both a valid NIH ID badge, current NIH email address, and a current R&W membership. Egg in a Hole With Berries and Yogurt

INGREDIENTS 2 slices whole-wheat bread 2 tablespoons butter, softened 2 large eggs kosher salt and pepper 1 cup berries (blueberries, raspberries, or blackberries) 1 cup plain yogurt 2 tablespoons sliced almonds, toasted (optional) DIRECTIONS Spread the top of each slice of bread with ¼ tablespoon each of the butter. Using a round cookie cutter or drinking glass, cut a 2½- to 3-inch hole in the center of each slice of bread, reserving the cutout pieces.

Heat the remaining 1½ tablespoons of butter in a large nonstick or cast-iron skillet over medium heat. Place the bread and the cutouts, buttered-side up, in the skillet. Crack 1 egg into each hole. Season with ¼ teaspoon salt and ¼ teaspoon pepper. Cook until the underside of the bread is golden, 3 to 4 minutes. Flip and cook the egg to desired doneness, 1 to 2 minutes for a runny yolk.Melt milk chocolate and oil in microwave, just until melted and stirring often.

Divide the berries and yogurt between two bowls and sprinkle with the almonds (if using). Serve with the eggs.

Al-Anon Provides Help for Those Involved with Substance Abuse - Al-Anon, an organization for family members of people with alcohol abuse, now welcomes family members of individuals with narcotic abuse problems to attend weekly group meetings. R&W Tax Preparation Service

It’s that time of year again but don’t fret, we can help! The R&W is sponsoring our annual Income Tax Preparation Service through an independent accounting firm, Teti and Carswell.

With over 30 years of experience, they can provide assistance in all areas of taxation. Tax preparation for foreign nationals is also available. Half-hour consultations will be held on campus, on Thursdays, February 6th thru March 26th between 3pm - 5pm at a too be determined location. To schedule your appointment, register for your half hour session online. Registration closes at noon on the Tuesday prior to the consultation. Vanpooling Is Economical and Environmentally Friendly

Eric Sofranko has openings in his vanpool. The vanpool departs the Jefferson, MD Park-n-Ride/Firehouse at 5:30am and arrives at Campus/Bldg. 31 by 6:30am. The van departs Campus/Bldg. 31 at 4:15pm and arrives in Jefferson at 5:15pm. If you are interested in this Jefferson-to-Campus vanpool, contact Eric at 240-627-3585.

Kathy Manigo-Lewis has openings in her vanpool. The van is scheduled Monday - Friday, 9-hour days, with AWS. It departs the Route 17 Commuter lot in Fredericksburg, VA, at 4:40am and arrives at Campus by 5:40am. The van departs campus at 3:45pm and arrives at Route 17 Commuter lot in Fredericksburg, VA by 5:15pm. Those interested contact Kathy at 301-451-1205.

Tripp Wray has openings in his vanpool. The van departs Trinity United Methodist Church in Mount Airy at 5:45am and arrives at Campus by 7am.
