Set the mood You will begin your date in a country steeped with culture and tradition-China. On the 15th day of the lunar calendar, the country celebrates the Lantern Festival. The history of the festival is debated, but most use the holiday to celebrate love and unity. Take a moment to consider where your date will occur. Use the lanterns to decorate your date space and spark a bit of romance.

TURKISH DRAUGHTS Many people have seen or played a game of checkers during their life. Did you know that checkers is known internationally as draughts and that many nations have variations of the game, from Myanmar to Argentina to Jamaica? Depending on the country, the board size might be 8x8, 10x10 or 12x12 and players might be given anywhere from 8 to 20 checkers.

For your date, you will be learning Turkish draughts, also known as Dama! Dama is also played in countries surrounding Turkey, such as Greece, Egypt and Jordan.

The biggest difference you might notice right off the bat is that unlike American checkers, Dama features a singlecolored board. Additionally, the players, or “men,� are not lined up along the back rows. Check out the rules below and have fun playing!

For your next activity, you will be exploring English proverbs, but not simply by reading them. Locate your included mouth retractors and Say What cards. Shuffle the cards and divide them between players. Player 1 will put their mouth retractor in place and attempt to get Player 2 to guess all 10 cards. Each card can be read a maximum of three times.

If Player 2 cannot guess the card after three repetitions, the card is set to the side. If Player 2 guesses correctly, they get to keep the card.

After Player 1 goes through their cards, switch roles and repeat. The person who has the most cards at the end of the game wins!

FRENCH LOVE LOCKS Next up, you will experience love locks in the beautiful and charming city of Paris! Did you know that love locks date back as many as 100 years? In fact, so many people have attached padlocks to the Pont des Arts Bridge that the city had to begin moving them due to the weight compromising the structure.

A love lock is a padlock that a couple writes on and attaches to a fence, bridge or meaningful location as a symbol of their commitment and love.

Locate your included lock and key; take a moment to consider what you might want to write on it and where you might want to leave it.

Many people write their names, initials or the date. Locks can be left somewhere around your home or taken to a meaningful place nearby!
