What is your concept?

¿Cuál es vuestro concepto?

Hi, it’s a pleasure being with you. I was born in Madrid and I have been living in Ibiza for more than 10 years, but I consider myself a citizen of the world as, because of my profession as an artist, I keep going everywhere. Now my most important residences are between Spain and Mexico.

The idea of the festival was born two years ago while doing a tour of Colombia, in the city of Pereira. The three of us, founders of the festival, gathered in a hotel room and put on the table the idea of making a festival that could have different features. The highlight was to convey a message of awareness towards the human race with Mother Nature, to improve problems such as global warming, deforestation, plastic excess, misuse of chemicals that affect the planet, and so on, thus trying to make it self-sustainable once the festival was ready. So three people from different countries (Mexico, Spain and Argentina) managed to reach a balance, and after changing things up a lot, we gave shape to what today is our festival, and in that same hotel room we created the name and logo of the actual Tulum festival.

The concept of Esto es Tulum is to give the crowd different sensory experiences, not only a musical proposal, but something that integrates different areas combining nature, music, art, gastronomy, workshops and culture, creating a unique concept so that the national and international public can get to know the Mayan culture from another angle, using music as a thread, in an impressive natural setting located in the same jungle of the city of Tulum.

Hola, un gusto estar con vosotros. He nacido en Madrid y vivo desde hace más de 10 años en Ibiza, pero me considero un ciudadano del mundo ya que no paro de dar vueltas y vueltas por mi profesión como artista. Ahora mis residencias más importantes están entre España y México.

La idea del festival nació dos años atrás cuando realizando un tour por Colombia, en la ciudad de Pereyra, nos juntamos en la habitación de un hotel tres de los fundadores y pusimos sobre la mesa la idea de hacer un festival que manteniese características diferentes.

Lo más destacado era llegar a transmitir un mensaje de conciencia hacia la raza humana con la madre naturaleza, para mejorar problemas como el calentamiento global, deforestación, exceso de materiales plásticos, mal uso de productos químicos que afectan al planeta, etc., y así lograr que fuera auto sustentable a la hora de su desarrollo.

Así tres personas de diferentes países (México, España y Argentina) logramos llegar a un punto de equilibrio y después de darle muchas vueltas nos pusimos a darle forma a lo que al día de hoy es nuestro festival y en esa misma habitación de hotel nació el nombre y el logotipo del actual festival de Tulum.

El concepto de Esto es Tulum es darle al público diferentes experiencias sensoriales, no sólo una propuesta musical, si no algo que integra diferentes áreas conjugando naturaleza, música, arte, gastronomía, talleres y cultura creando un concepto único para que el público nacional e internacional conozca desde otro ángulo la cultura maya, utilizando como hilo conductor a la música, en un impresionante escenario natural localizado en la misma selva de la ciudad de Tulum.

How does the festival take place?

Esto es Tulum is a project developed by Mexicans, from the founders, investors and developers, together with people from other countries, with the purpose of bringing the essence of the experience that represents the Tulum jungle to the best scenarios around the world, certain that there are no borders, thus totally including different ethnicities and beliefs, achieving a mystical connection, connecting good energies and the desire to do things with your heart.

What kind of places or clubs are you looking for your events?

Our first edition of the festival “Esto es Tulum” took place at the Cenote Casa Tortuga where more than 22,000 people attended, and enjoyed events with: Circoloco, The Martinez Brothers, Bedrock, Don not Sit on the Furniture, Luciano & Friends, Ants and artists like Blondish, Damian Lazarus, Ramp, Adam Port, Steve Lawler, Damian Lazarus, Behrouz, Andrea Oliva, Sasha, John Digweed, just to name a few. This year the festival’s second edition will take place from 27th December 2019 to 13th January 2020, with 9 events aimed at giving the crowd the best shows in an unbeatable place.

But EET is not just music...

Indeed. At the same time we’re trying to reduce the damage made to the planet and create an environmental, ecological, musical and social awareness.

In order to protect the natural environment and generate the least possible environmental impact, we provide for natural structures, our constructions and decorations are made with organic elements and still life, we transplant vegetation, clean up water layers, and the bathrooms have been specially built with biodigester systems. We have the support of foundations that fight to improve the system and education, so we work together hoping that the message of taking care of the planet could get as far as possible.

¿Cómo se desarrolla el festival?

Esto es Tulum es un proyecto desarrollado por mexicanos, desde los fundadores, inversionistas y desarrolladores, unidos con personas de otros países, con la intención de llevar la esencia de la experiencia que representa la jungla de Tulum a los mejores escenarios alrededor del mundo, con la convicción de que no existen fronteras, íntegramente inclusivo a las diferentes etnias y creencias, logrando una conexión mística, conectando las buenas energías y las ganas de realizar cosas con el corazón.

¿Qué tipo de locales o clubes buscáis para vuestros eventos?

Este año la segunda edición se llevará a cabo del 27 de diciembre de 2019 al 13 de enero de 2020, y contaremos con 9 eventos con los cuales buscamos darle al público los mejores espectáculos en un lugar inmejorable.

Pero EET no es solo música…

Efectivamente, a la vez buscamos reducir nuestro daño al planeta y crear una conciencia ambiental, ecológica, musical y social.

Para poder proteger el ambiente natural y generar el menor impacto ambiental posible, mantenemos estructuras naturales, realizamos construcciones y decoración con elementos orgánicos y naturaleza muerta, transplantando vegetación, saneando las capas de agua, y los baños fueron construidos especialmente con sistemas de biodigestor. Contamos con el apoyo de fundaciones que luchan por una mejora en el sistema y la educación, así trabajamos unidos para llegar con el mensaje de cuidar el planeta lo más lejos posible.

During the festival, we also clean the town and beaches every Sunday, to raise awareness in the community and together create a world free of plastic.

In addition to all this, we offer free holistic workshops, with native instruments of the Riviera Maya as well as dance therapy, healing with ancestral sounds, acroyoga, cocoa ceremony and more.

Realizamos además limpiezas del pueblo y playas todos los domingos durante el festival, para crear conciencia en la comunidad y juntos crear un mundo libre de plástico.

Además de todo esto brindamos talleres holísticos gratuitos, con instrumentos autóctonos de la Riviera Maya así como danza terapia, sanación con sonidos ancestrales, acro yoga, ceremonia del cacao y más.

I could really tell you that Tulum reminds me of the golden years of Ibiza, those vibes and that light that you could feel in those years. Tulum is a paradise where the nature and energy of the Mayan lands are combined with that connection of the different cultures that makes this magic feel so particular.

To date, “Esto es Tulum” has been in Ibiza this summer with a residency every Wednesdays at Blue Marlin Ibiza with a wonderful response. We will soon be able to announce things that will happen in the next 2020 season and that will not leave anyone indifferent. At the moment this is top secret.

“Esto es Tulum” is a mixture of the two; we offer our crowd a wide variety of experiences so that those taking part at the festival can enjoy both day and night, and each of them can live an unforgettable experience.■

Realmente podría deciros que Tulum me recuerda a los años dorados de Ibiza, esa vibra y esa luz que se percibía en aquellos años. Tulum es un paraíso donde se conjugan la naturaleza y la energía de las tierras mayas junto a esa conexión de las diferentes culturas que hace que se sienta esa magia tan particular.

A dia de hoy “Esto es Tulum” ha estado presente en Ibiza este verano con una residencia los miércoles en Blue Marlin Ibiza con una maravillosa aceptación.

Pronto podremos anunciar cosas que sucederán en la próxima temporada 2020 y que no dejarán indiferente a nadie. De momento es top secret.

The environment is playful, it is surely the image of my experience and reflects my personality. My goal is to make people feel at home and put them at ease, while respecting professionalism.

Our menu is the result of my numerous travel experiences. We are also attentive to the needs of young people and those playing sport, so we have developed protein dishes with natural products and in line with new food trends.

El ambiente es juguetón, seguramente es la imagen de mi experiencia y refleja mi personalidad. Mi objetivo es hacer que las personas se sientan como en casa y hacerlas sentir a gusto, respetando la profesionalidad.

The Poke Bowl. Despite being now an overrated dish, our chef was one of the first importers of its original Hawaiian recipe.

Sun, shining on the terrace 15 hours a day. Heart, in everything we do. Love, a feeling that pervades the bar.

Absolutely. We want to give continuity to our customers and to our work.

We will be open from 8.30 am to 8.00 pm, with a day off on Mondays, except in exceptional cases (sports matches, holidays, etc.).

We will certainly continue to offer our main dishes and will enrich our menu with seasonal and day suggestions.

The positivity and passion that have always been with us over the years.■

I was always attracted to this island that I started visiting in 1989, when I first came on holiday, and that for the last 10 years has become my residence.

The Nómade beach club is a new adventure, which I’ve launched this year with the collaboration of the managers of “Il Vizietto” in Rimini and of “Patatina” in L’Aquila.

Siempre me he sentido atraído por esta isla que comencé a visitar en 1989, cuando vine por primera vez de vacaciones, y que durante los últimos 10 años se ha convertido en mi residencia.

El Nómade beach club es una nueva aventura, comenzada este año con la colaboración de los gerentes de “Il Vizietto” de Rimini y de “Patatina” de L’Aquila.

Baked fish and seafood tagliolini are certainly two dishes with greater positive feedback, without forgetting the other courses, of course.

We will remain open even in winter, to give continuity to the activity and continue to offer the service that drives customers to visit our terrace.

What will be your opening times for the winter season?

From November the restaurant will open from 11am to sunset.

hat do you remember most about your beginnings in the culinary world?

It’s always necessary to contextualize the historical moment. My generation began to work collecting on the one hand what learnt at school, whose references were all French and depicted a very pompous cuisine, while on the other it saw the real world and discovered a kitchen in which mayonnaise and ketchup were mixed. In short, our cuisine had no identity: farfalle pasta with salmon, shrimp cocktail, and champagne risotto reigned supreme.

In practice, we worked with the dream of seeing where we could actually see the kitchen we were looking for.

What did you feel when you received your first Michelin star?

Considering that was the year 2000, when the food revolution was just beginning, I felt that someone had noticed the sacrifices I was making at that moment along with my group and the people who were always close to me.

Qué es lo que más recuerdas de tus comienzos en el mundo culinario?

Siempre es necesario contextualizar el momento histórico, mi generación comenzó a trabajar recolectando por un lado lo que se aprende en el colegio, cuyas referencias eran todas francesas y representaban una cocina muy pomposa, mientras que por otro lado vio el mundo real y descubrió una cocina en la que la mayonesa y la salsa de tomate se mezclaban.

En resumen, nuestra cocina no tenía identidad: prevalecían las mariposas con salmón, el cóctel de camarones y el risotto de champán. En la práctica, trabajábamos con el sueño de ver dónde estaba realmente la cocina que estábamos buscando.

¿Qué sentiste cuando recibiste tu primera estrella Michelin?

Contextualizando todo al hecho de que era 2000, cuando la revolución alimentaria apenas comenzaba, sentí que alguien había notado los sacrificios que estaba haciendo en ese momento junto con mi grupo y las personas que siempre estaban cerca de mí.

Let’s move to Ibiza,whereyou opened ITIbiza restaurant 4 years ago. Why did you choose this location and what kind of gastronomic experience does it offer?

Vayamos a Ibiza, donde hace 4 años abriste el restaurante IT Ibiza. ¿Por qué elegiste este lugar y qué tipo de experiencia gastronómica ofrece?

La Torre used to be a defence outpost of the territory, which blocked invasions and enemy attacks. Today we do the same but in a culinary way: we bring out local products through a straightforward, uncompromising, authentic kitchen. It’s the place where I was born and I know everything about this Marina: the sea, the seabed, the reefs. It’s a place that I feel is mine.

Ibiza was a very pleasant challenge. When we opened, the Adrià brothers did that too, and this marked a change in the desire to raise the quality of catering on the island.

We tried to build a cheerful, quality place, in which my cuisine would embrace well the local product and also get excellent raw materials from Italy. There is still much to do, but we’ve soon become a reference point on the island thanks to chef Massimo La Rosa and pizza chef Alfonso Russo.

The experience continues with enthusiasm and curiosity: in Milan we have kept our careful, respectful and in some ways fearful approach towards these new realities. In Milan there was obviously no shortage of excellent restaurants, so we formed an important group with resident chef Aldo Ritrovato and with Adriano Rausa. In pastry-making, we have Francesco De Padova. They’re all very good guys coming from Torre del Saracino school. Our pizza, a formidable attractor for all restaurants, has been “imported” from Ibiza. IT Milano is a place with a very nice design, thanks to the architect Falconio. Brera is a central and historic location; in short, it is a place suited to the level of what today Milan represents for Italy and for Europe.

I have always been “Night”. For me the night has always had something intimate with oneself and with the world.

La Torre era un puesto avanzado de defensa del territorio, que interceptaba invasiones y ataques enemigos. Hoy a nivel gastronómico hacemos lo mismo: exaltar productos locales a través de una cocina recta, inflexible, auténtica. Es el lugar donde nací y sé todo sobre esta Marina: el mar, el fondo marino, los arrecifes. Es un lugar que siento que es mío.

Ibiza fue un desafío muy agradable. Cuando abrimos también lo hicieron los hermanos Adrià y esto marcó un cambio en el deseo de elevar la calidad de la restauración en la isla. Intentamos construir un lugar alegre y de calidad, en el que mi cocina se casara bien con el producto local y también obtuviera excelentes materias primas de Italia. Todavía queda mucho por hacer, pero pronto nos convertimos en un punto de referencia en la isla gracias al chef Massimo La Rosa y al chef de pizza Alfonso Russo.

La experiencia continúa con entusiasmo y curiosidad: en Milán hemos mantenido nuestro enfoque cuidadoso, respetuoso y de alguna manera temeroso hacia estas nuevas realidades. En Milán no faltaban restaurantes excelentes por supuesto, por lo que estructuramos un grupo importante con el chef residente Aldo Ritrovato y con Adriano Rausa.

En pastelería, tenemos a Francesco De Padova. Todos muy buenos muchachos que han ido a la escuela de Torre del Saracino. Desde Ibiza hemos “importado” la pizza, un atractivo formidable para todos los restaurantes. IT Milano es un lugar con un diseño muy agradable, gracias al arquitecto Falconio. I had tons of people try to talk me out of it - even some close chef friends, but hey I believe that drives you yet even more. I began to research and sketch plates that inspired me not only to create fabulous recipes but beautiful artistic plates. It inspires me to see someone’s reaction - their “WOW Factor” when the dish is placed in front of them.

That’s why I started my first collection with solid gold dishes of the bonsai tree, staircase, and pyramid.

Plates that had a story behind them. For example, the staircase plate, I see it as we all have ups and downs in life, and you should always look up - never look down to situations!

Tuve montones de personas que intentaron convencerme, incluso algunos amigos cocineros cercanos, pero bueno, creo que eso te impulsa aún más. Comencé a investigar y dibujar platos que me inspiraban no solo a crear recetas fabulosas, sino también hermosos platos artísticos. Me inspira ver la reacción de alguien: su “Factor WOW” cuando se le coloca el plato frente a ellos.

Es por eso que comencé mi primera colección con platos hechos de oro macizo con diseños que incluyen un árbol de bonsái, una escalera y una pirámide. Platos que tenían una historia detrás de ellos. Por ejemplo, lo que veo del plato con forma de escalera es que todos tenemos altibajos en la vida, y siempre hay que mirar hacia arriba, ¡nunca mirar las situaciones hacia abajo!

For my second collection, I used high heels and purses inspired by dear friend Valentino to create my restaurant concept in Miami, FL - Kaori By WM. I designed these female plates to connect with the restaurant name “Kaori,” which means “Inner Beauty.”

Throughout this process, I’ve come to realize that you should never stop pursuing an idea or passion just because someone tries to talk you out of it. “Believe in yourself!” - It’s more than just a fun phrase to say. It’s a philosophy of relentless optimism. A mindset. A mantra. A conviction. ■

Para mi segunda colección, utilicé zapatos de tacón alto y carteras inspirados en mi querido amigo Valentino para crear mi concepto de restaurante en Miami, FL: Kaori By WM. Diseñé estos platos femeninos para conectar con el nombre del restaurante “Kaori”, que significa “Belleza interior”. A lo largo de este proceso, me he dado cuenta de que nunca debes dejar de perseguir una idea o pasión solo porque alguien intenta disuadirte de ella. “¡Cree en ti, si!”- Es más que una frase divertida para decir. Es una filosofía de optimismo implacable. Una mentalidad.

On 10th September Apple officially introduced its new iPhones. There are three different models again this year, to satisfy all possible needs: iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. Compared to last year’s models, the focus on these ones has been to improve the overall experience of photos and videos.

iPhone 11 replaces iPhone XR and compared to its predecessor, it gains a second 12-megapixel wideangle camera. It has the same 6.1-inch display with LCD technology, whereas its battery life will be up to an hour longer. iPhone 11 prices start at 839 euros and is available in purple, green, yellow, black and white.

In my Beach Boxing Gym I’ve built 4 bungalows for those who want to come to Thailand for a sporting, cultural or purely relaxing holiday.

La llegada de cada nueva estación produce tensión. Septiembre es un mes de cambios, de finales y de reinicios…

t’s the second time that I sneak into the world of the LUNNIS. I can assure you that it’s a very closed world where only a few can get in. The star and usually the only human acting with them is the great artist “Lucrecia”, with whom I had the opportunity to work in the special episode “Lunnis of Legend” at Christmas 2018, and with whom for the first time I got to interact with a puppet that is also much more famous than you.

On that occasion the producer of RTVE’s children’s programming was Luis Boix who trusted blindly in me.

He would always tell me; “I saw you in that role right away” even though I couldn’t see myself that much.

Performing with the LUNNIS isn’t easy. Many things change for an actor. To begin with, the tone of voice while acting is close to that of Shakespeare, for it has to be over-acted and it also has to sound real, as we’re

s la segunda vez que me cuelo en el mundo de los LUNNIS. Puedo asegurar que es un mundo muy cerrado donde solo unos pocos entran. La estrella y normalmente única humana actuando con ellos es la grandísima artista “Lucrecia”, con la que tuve la oportunidad de trabajar en el Especial “Lunnis de Leyenda” en Navidad de 2018 y con la que pude tener esa primera experiencia de como es interactuar con un muñeco que además es mucho más reconocido que tú.

En esa ocasión el productor de programación infantil de RTVE Luis Boix fue quien confió en mí a ciegas. Él me decía siempre; “te vi en el papel inmediatamente” a pesar de que yo no me veía tanto. Interpretar con los LUNNIS no es fácil. Cambian muchas cosas para un actor. Para empezar el tono interpretativo está entre Shakespeare, por que se debe sobre-actuar y además darle realidad, y el mundo de los niños. Hay que tener en cuenta cosas

That pressure put by an amazing team of professionals, who are responsible for making a different and striking episode for the Prado Museum’s bicentennial.

Luis Boix (producer) took me by the hand, and without knowing it he was giving me a wonderful shoot. At the first meeting he introduced me to Miki Sabater (Head of the RTVE Filmmakers Unit), Xavi Viza (Director) and Juan Pedro Alcobendas (lighting and photography director). May they forgive me for the expression; four RTVE dinosaurs with a thousand years of experience. Miki Sabater focused on me straight away. I felt that he wanted to get rid of the worry that the actor in front of him wasn’t going to fail and would do things as he had intended them.

Luis Boix (productor) me llevaba de la mano y sin yo saberlo me estaba regalando un rodaje maravilloso. En la primera reunión me presentó a Miki Sabater (Jefe de la unidad de Realizadores de RTVE), Xavi Viza (Director) y Juan Pedro Alcobendas (Director de luz y foto). Que ellos me perdonen por la expresión; cuatro dinosaurios de RTVE con mil años de experiencia. Miki Sabater se centró en mí inmediatamente. Sentí que quería sacarse de encima la preocupación de que el actor que tenía delante no iba a fallar y haría las cosas como él las tenia pensadas.

I was particularly relieved to see those four important professionals working on the nuances of my character.

A mí particularmente me alivió ver a esos cuatro profesionales tan importantes trabajando los matices de mi personaje.

Miki (TV producer) and Xavi (director) had this clear, and their idea wasn’t far from mine. This is how I found this character so good. “The security guard of the museum”, who during the episode would chase the LUNNIS going through many funny situations and ending up being friends with them. A character that thought he was 007, but who was actually someone bored of looking after the museum in the endless nights. An arrogant but friendly and at the same time awkward security guard, who ends up being very funny.

Miki (realizador) y Xavi (director) lo tenían claro y su idea no distaba mucho de la mía. De esta forma fue como me encontré con este personaje tan rico. “El seguridad de museo” que se iba a pasar el episodio persiguiendo a los LUNNIS pasando por muchas situaciones divertidas y terminando por hacerse amigo de ellos. Un personaje que se creía 007 pero que en realidad es alguien que se aburre en las noches interminables en las que debe vigilar el museo.

Un arrogante pero simpatico y a la vez torpe vigilante de seguridad que resulta muy cómico.

I can’t explain how impressive it was to shoot inside the Prado Museum between 01.00 am and 06.00 am with all the technical difficulties and also struggling with the strong security measures

Luis Boix (productor) me volvió a llamar para “Lunnis en el Museo del Prado”. En esta segunda ocasión sentía que tenía más presión ya que me iba a encontrar con los LUNNIS sin el apoyo de Lucrecia. La presión que ejerce un impresionante equipo de profesionales que tenían la obligación de hacer un episodio distinto e impactante por el bicentenario del Museo del Prado.

It was a fantastic shooting, full of magic, and living with the protagonists in their world during that week was an honour. The fantastic actors and actresses who manipulate and give life to the LUNNIS are; Ingrid Domingo “Lucho”, Joan Bentallé “Lublu”, Lores Marcó “Lulila”, Rosa Pou “Lupita” and David Llamas, who is the substitute in case of injury. They are the soul of the LUNNIS. It took me a bit to get back to acting with a puppet, but their work is so fine and they give them so much life that it took me a short time to get it. I must say that on both occasions we have worked they made things easy for me. They helped my acting work be fluid. I thank them for having welcomed me once more as if I were one of them.

Fue un rodaje fantástico, lleno de magia y cohabitar con los protagonistas en su mundo durante esa semana fue un honor. Los fantásticos actores y actrices que manipulan y dan vida a los LUNNIS son; Ingrid Domingo “Lucho”, Joan Bentallé “Lublu”, Lores Marcó “Lulila”, Rosa Pou “Lupita” y David Llamas que es el sustituto en caso de lesión. Ellos son el alma de los LUNNIS. Me costó un poco volver a actuar con un muñeco pero su trabajo es tan fino y le dan tanta vida que tardé poco en lograrlo. Debo decir que en las dos ocasiones que hemos trabajado me han puesto las cosas fáciles. Ayudado a que mi trabajo actoral fuera fluido. Desde aquí les agradezco el haberme acogido una vez más como si fuera uno de ellos.

He was extremely kind, as it usually happens when you deal directly with those at the top, and left us this small interview. The first thing he told me was the great news that the episode “Lunnis at the Prado Museum” had been nominated for the “IRIS” Television Awards.

MAX - ¡Estamos nominados! ¿Cómo recibiste la noticia?

MIKI - Yes, it’s amazing, as we are talking about the “IRIS awards” that are like the “GOYA awards” for television.

MIKI – Sí, es una ilusión por que estamos hablando de los “IRIS” que son como los “GOYA” de la televisión.

MAX - Is it the most important recognition you have had in the long history of “THE LUNNIS”?

MAX - ¿Es el reconocimiento más importante que habéis tenido en la larga historia de “LOS LUNNIS”?

MIKI - Well... we have had many awards with “The Lunnis”.

A gold “TP” for example, even in Chile I remember. We have a very long history and it is a leading product. This in particular is the recognition of television professionals to a programme. This prize is not given by the public or academics of a festival. This is given by colleagues in the profession and this is the first time that happens to us.

MIKI - Bueno… hemos tenido multitud de premios con “Los Lunnis”. Un “TP” de oro por ejemplo, incluso en Chile recuerdo.

Tenemos una trayectoria muy larga y es un producto líder.

Este en concreto es el reconocimiento de los profesionales en televisión a un programa. Este premio no lo da ni el público ni los académicos de un festival. Este lo da como te digo compañeros de la profesión y esto si es la primera vez que nos pasa.

MAX - How did you get the news?

MAX - ¿Cómo recibiste la noticia?

MIKI - I was at a meeting when Ana Ruiz, the executive producer, comes in with a big smile and tells me: We have been nominated for the IRIS awards! And that was such a “high”! I am very fond of “THE LUNNIS”. They started with me and although, as a TV production manager, I’m not responsible for directing the shooting, I keep doing it.

MIKI - Estaba reunido y la productora ejecutiva Ana Ruiz interrumpe la reunión con una gran sonrisa y me dice: ¡Nos han nominado para los IRIS! ¡Y fue un “subidón” claro! Yo les tengo mucho cariño a “LOS LUNNIS” empezaron conmigo y aunque desde mi puesto como Jefe de realización no tengo la responsabilidad de estar a pie de rodaje dirigiendo, lo sigo haciendo.

MAX - I don’t know if you know our Night&Day Magazine in Ibiza, what’s your relationship with the island?

MAX - No sé si conoces nuestra revista Night&Day Magazine en Ibiza, ¿qué relación tienes tú con la isla?

MIKI - A full one! It started at 17, when we set up a windsurfing school in Cala Conta. Then, I went through KU and enjoyed everything that today doesn’t exist anymore.

Please tell us when and how you started your project “Judo sin Barreras”.

Por favor cuéntanos cuándo y cómo empezaste el proyecto “Judo sin Barreras”.

I am a judo teacher, although I have always combined my profession with other jobs. Right now, as well as doing my judo classes, I’m also working in a school.

It’s been more than 12 years since I started teaching judo, which I have been practising since I was 5 (now I am 32).

Judo has brought me many things at all levels. You can say that it’s partly thanks to judo that I’m the way I am.

When I started teaching judo, I really realized the benefits it brings to all the people who practice it, both children and adults, on a physical, mental, emotional, and social level... In addition to all this, thanks to judo I’ve met great people, including Roberto Paños, a fellow judo player from our neighbouring island, Formentera. Roberto is a behavioural therapist for people with disabilities.

We have always been aware of the benefits that judo brings to neurotypical people, and we wanted people with functional diversity to also take advantage of these benefits. In 2017 I founded my own judo club, Dojo Ibiza and, thanks to my club and Rober’s help, we started our 42

Soy maestro de judo, aunque lo he compaginado siempre con otros trabajos. Ahora mismo trabajo en una escuela además de dedicarme a mis clases de judo.

Hace ya más de 12 años que empecé a dar clases de judo, que practico desde los 5 años (ahora tengo 32). El judo me ha aportado muchísimas cosas a todos los niveles. Se puede decir que soy como soy en parte al judo. Cuando empecé a dedicarme a la enseñanza del judo me di cuenta realmente de los beneficios que aporta a todas las personas que lo practican, tanto niños/as como adultos, a nivel físico, mental, emocional, social… El judo, además de todo esto, me ha permitido conocer a grandísimas personas, entre ellas Roberto Paños, un compañero de judo de la isla vecina, Formentera. Roberto es terapeuta conductual con personas con discapacidad. Los dos hemos sido conscientes siempre de los beneficios que el judo aporta a personas neurotípicas y queríamos que personas con diversidad funcional también se aprovecharan de estos beneficios. En 2017 fundé mi propio club de judo, Dojo Ibiza y, con el y con la ayuda de

The project involves carrying out judo sessions adapted to all types of people with some kind of disability. Classes take place every Saturday morning at the Club, in Ibiza.

We have two groups divided by age and, all those who want to help are invited to take part in these sessions, have a good time on a Saturday morning or just watch what we do. Everyone involved is a volunteer. We’re doing “inclusion upside down”. That is, sessions adapted to those attended by the students of my ordinary classes and anyone who wants to come. Usually, inclusion takes place within an ordinary group with a series of adaptations.

We do it the other way around to reach more people, as sometimes, inclusion in a group isn’t easy or real. Once they spend some time in the adapted classes, and when we think it is best, we move them to the ordinary classes that run from Monday to Friday.

As the name of the project says, we don’t put any type of barrier. It is open to people with any type of physical or mental disability. And, as I said before, to anyone who wants to help us and share time and space with our students. We give everyone the opportunity to grow as a person, with the values that judo and this activity brings.

We work above all on a motor level (dislocation, joint mobility, etc.). Our students learn to stay within a group, to help each other, and then a bit of the technical side of judo is adapted to the characteristics of each one. All this, under the discipline needed to make a martial art like judo. We are lucky to do a sport that everyone can practice, each one at their level.

It depends on the occasion... but if I have to choose one, DAY.

El proyecto consiste en realizar sesiones de judo adaptadas a todo tipo de personas con algún tipo de discapacidad. Las clases son todos los sábados por la mañana en la sede del Club, en Ibiza. Tenemos dos grupos separados por edades y, a estas sesiones, están invitados todos aquellos que quieran ayudar, pasar un buen rato un sábado por la mañana o simplemente observar lo que hacemos. Todos los involucrados son voluntarios. Hacemos ”inclusión a la inversa”. Es decir, sesiones adaptadas a las que acuden alumnos de mis clases ordinarias y todo aquel que quiera venir. Normalmente, la inclusión se hace dentro de un grupo ordinario con una serie de adaptaciones. Nosotros lo hacemos al revés para llegar a más personas, ya que a veces, la inclusión en un grupo no es fácil ni real. Una vez llevan un tiempo en la clases adaptadas, y en los casos que vemos conveniente, los pasamos a las clases ordinarias que tenemos de lunes a viernes.

Como indica el nombre del proyecto, no ponemos ningún tipo de barrera. Está abierto a personas con cualquier tipo de discapacidad física o psíquica. Y, como he dicho anteriormente, a todo aquel que quiera ayudarnos y compartir tiempo y espacio con nuestros alumnos. Les damos a todos la oportunidad de crecer como persona, con los valores que el judo y esta actividad aporta.

Trabajamos sobretodo a nivel motriz (desplazamientos, movilidad articular, etc) el saber estar dentro de un grupo, la ayuda mutua entre compañeros, un poco de parte técnica de Judo adaptada a las características de cada uno y, todo esto, bajo la disciplina que implica hacer un arte marcial como el judo. Tenemos la suerte de hacer un deporte hecho para que todos lo puedan practicar, cada uno a su nivel.

Según el momento… pero si me tengo que quedar con uno, DAY.

I’m Italian, from Rome but I lived in London for over 10 years, after that Dubai and now Ibiza.

I have been planning flawless elegant weddings and events for 15 years by adhering to the motto: “It’s all in the details”.

Planning an event can be overwhelming. However, with experience and our dedicated and professional team, everything can be done, leaving nothing to chance!

I believe in paying attention to all the details while planning the event and flawless execution on the day.

From lighting and linens to napkin treatments, from custom dance floors to charger plates, every detail is carefully chosen.

Event planners and wedding planners are two positions very similar in nature. However, the wedding planner specialises in planning each and every aspect of a wedding, from the budget allocation, to the wedding coordination; from possessing the little black book filled with credible professionals to managing the wedding party and various family member roles. I have great connections with professionals in the region and can most likely get brides the hook-up with some great discounts and deals. I will handle all of the details within the wedding and guide them through every step of the wedding process. The best part is that even after the wedding is over, I often take care of everything that is left behind.

Los planificadores de eventos y los planificadores de bodas son básicamente dos posiciones muy similares.

Sin embargo, el planificador de bodas se especializa en la planificación de todos y cada uno de los aspectos de una boda, desde la asignación del presupuesto hasta la coordinación de la boda; desde tener una lista de contactos de profesionales fiables hasta dirigir la boda y los varios roles de los miembros de la familia. Tengo excelentes contactos con profesionales en el país y puedo conseguir grandes descuentos y ofertas para las novias.
