EDITORIAL August is here, the month to

balance the books... For you, dear tourists, who finally enjoy your deserved holiday, and also for the people who live on the island who can see the fruits of their hard work! We hope Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon gets well soon. We were going to interview him, but we’ve had to postpone the interview for the time being because the band had to cancel their 30th anniversary tour, due to Le Bon’s serious vocal problems. It’s a real shame, because those people who like me are “Wild Boys” at heart would have enjoyed a performance by the original band on the wonderful terrace at Amnesia and we’d have had the honour of featuring the group in our magazine. Anyway, you’ve got nothing to worry about because in this issue we have lots of interesting people and, as we do every month, we tell you what’s going on all over the island. And, most importantly, you are always the stars of the show!

mes en el que hay que cuadrar las cuentas... Para vosotros, queridos turistas, que finalmente disfrutáis de vuestro merecido descanso, ¡y para nosotros de la isla que podemos ver los frutos de nuestro trabajo! Queremos desearle a Simon Le Bon de Duran Duran que se mejore pronto. Nos había concedido el honor de una entrevista que tendremos que aplazar a fecha por definir, igual que se ha suspendido la gira para celebrar los 30 años de carrera de la banda, a causa de un serio problema con su voz. Me da mucha pena porque los que como yo se sienten “Wild Boys”, hubieran disfrutado de una performance de la formación original en la fantástica terraza de Amnesia y del honor de tenerlos en nuestra revista. De todas maneras no os preocupéis porque en este número tenemos a muchos personajes interesantes y como siempre os contamos lo que pasa en la isla y lo más importante es que ¡vosotros siempre sois los protagonistas!

O N S G G O D Snoop Dogg has arrived in Ibiza, how is it?: Special man, I’m tweeting about it right now, letting the whole world know how beautiful it is over here. You know, the people, the sound, the stage, the look.

It’s more beautiful than I could ever have imagined. I mean I didn’t know what to expect coming over here.

This is your first time, is Ibiza hallowed ground for you? Is it somewhere you always wanted to come e?: I mean I always heard about it and I wanted to see it with my own two eyes and now that I’ve seen it, I must say that it’s a beautiful place.

How was it seeing the hands in the air for your club banger with David Guetta in Ibiza man?: It’s what we do, we make music to make people feel good, because that’s what I make music for, I make music to get it across to different people, I don’t make it for one particular kind of person, I make it for people.

In Dogg years you’ve been around a lifetime, how do you keep it fresh?: I just love making music and the people out there who are good and they’re making music, if I like them and they like me we get together and make it happen, we don’t have no prejudice or no walls or no barriers. If I like a particular artist and he’s a fan of my music we normally go hit it off and make a record and try and make more magic, that’s what the music game is built on, spreading love and communicating and becoming one instead of it being so separate.

Will you be back next year?: I want My MTV Ibiza I really do. I’ll be back again, and again and again like I told y’all take a look at this face right here, this ain’t the last time you’re gonna see a bad guy like this, I’ll be back.

Snoop Dogg acaba de llegar a Ibiza, ¿qué tal por aquí?: Genial, tío. Ya sabes, la gente, el sonido, el escenario, el look. Ha sido muy bonito y más de lo que me hubiese podido imaginar. O sea que no sabía lo que me esperaría antes de venir.

Es tu primera vez en la isla, ¿Ibiza es un terreno sagrado para ti, un sitio adónde siempre habías querido ir?: Siempre había oído hablar de Ibiza y quería verlo con mis propios ojos. Ahora que lo he visto, tengo que decir que es muy bonito. ¿Cómo fue ver todas esas manos en el aire cuando cantaste tu temazo con David Guetta en Ibiza, tío o?: Es lo que hacemos, hacemos música para que la gente se sienta bien. Es por eso que hago música, hago música para que llegue a gente distinta, no lo hago por un tipo especial de persona, lo hago para la gente.

En los últimos años has estado dando muchas vueltas por ahí, ¿cómo mantienes fresca tu música?: Simplemente porque me encanta hacer música y la gente que es buena y que hace música, si me gustan ellos y a ellos yo, nos juntamos y lo hacemos realidad. Normalmente, si me gusta un artista en especial y él es un fan de mi música, congeniamos y hacemos un álbum. Así funciona la música, difunde amor, es comunicación y unidad en vez de separación. ¿Volverás el año que viene?: I want My MTV Ibiza, claro. Volveré, una y otra vez, como os he dicho mirad esta cara porque no será la última vez que veréis a un tipo malo como éste, volveré.

Name: Cristian Varela Where are you from?: Madrid.

Connection with Ibiza: Carl Cox. At what age did you start in the music busine ess?: At the age of 15 and since then I haven’t stopped!

Tell us how the idea of Pornographic Recordings, the label you created with Marco Bailey, wa as born: Making a parallelism between techno music, which was a taboo at that time, and the art of pornography which is seen as something artistic and not vulgar, of course.

The first time you played in Ibiza: In 2001 at the Made in Italy party at Amnesia and then with Carl Cox at Space.

The best festival you’ve DJed at: Dance Valley, in the Netherlands.

A club which iss always a pleasure to play at: Florida 135 in Huesca (Fraga).

What do you like most about your work?: I like to feel the energy exchange between the audience and me at each show.

Your next project: “Paradise of Feelings,” a symphonic album, composed and orchestrated by a server.

The ideal place to relax after a good party: At home, like nowhere else!

Where and when are you going to play in Ibiza this sum mmer?: Every Wednesday in July and August I play at Eden Club and the 6th of September with my good friend and great artist Carl Cox at Space. In addition, I have my own Radio Shows (Pornographic Label Nights) on Ibiza Global Radio every Wednesday from 10pm to 11pm and on Sónica from 9pm to 10pm, also on Wednesdays.

Why Dubfire?:

I was heavily into dub reggae when I was younger (and to a great extent still am!). I also didn’t want to use my actual name as it was too ethnic-sounding.

Connection with Ibiza: It really is the epicenter of electronic music for 4+ months every summer of every year. I’ve been inspired countless times by the vibe and music in Ibiza.

In 1991 you met Sharam Tayebi and started Djing together as Deep Dish. Do o you think this project is definitely over? Would it be possible to see you together again?: We never officially declared Deep Dish to be “over” - we became immersed in our individual projects, which have been very rewarding, and also grew apart personally and professionally.

Sharam and I have a lot of mutual respect for each other, so it’s not out of the question that we would ever produce or DJ together again.

How has your music changed since the moment you started Djing alone?: I guess I went back to my roots and why I fell in love with this music in the first place.

I had, for as long as I can remember, always gravitated towards the more obscure and left of centre styles of music so wanted to reconnect with that part of who I am. I had many ideas that I wasn’t able to carry out within the boundaries of Deep Dish so needed to branch out to pursue them.

Plans for this summer 2011: I’m currently knee deep in another busy summer of touring and lining up some interesting new productions and remixes which are staggered to come out over the next few months.

¿Por qué Dubfire?:

Cuando era joven (¡y en gran medida todavía ahora!) estaba muy metido en el dub reggae. Además, no quería usar mi nombre real porque sonaba demasiado étnico.

Conección con Ibiza: Es el epicentro de la música electrónica durante más de 4 meses cada verano, cada año. La onda y la música de Ibiza me han inspirado infinitas veces.

En 1991 conociste a Sharam Tayebi y juntos empezásteis con Deep Dish. ¿Cree es que este proyecto está acabado para siempre? ¿Será posible volver a veros juntos?: Nunca declaramos oficialmente que Deep Dish se había acabado, son

sumergimos en nuestros proyectos individuales, muy gratificantes, y también crecimos por separado desde el punto de vista personal y profesional.

Sharam y yo nos respetamos mutuamente, así que puede que volvamos a producir o pinchar juntos de nuevo. ¿Cómo ha cambiado tu música desde que empezaste a tocar solo?: Creo que volví a mis raíces y primero al porqué estoy enamorado de esta música. Desde que tengo recuerdo, siempre me han atraído los géneros musicales más oscuros y periféricos, así que quería volver a conectar con esa parte mía. Tenía muchas ideas que no pegaban con Deep Dish, tuve que independizarme para perseguirlas.

Planes para este verano 2011: Este verano estoy absorbido por la gira y las actuaciones, además de algunas nuevas producciones y remezclas interesantes que saldrán en los próximos meses.

Being in the study of Ibiza Global Radio at 8 pm remains for me the best thing going on in my life.

Watching the DJ playing music and creating an ambience and harmony that unites the island with a feel good sound and which often helps us forget about our problems.

DJ’s and music producers express themselves and listeners listen, enjoy and appreciate. So often the name of the artist isn’t important, but instead the quality and the level broadcast by the radio, which is something different to playing at a club but just as interesting and important.

During my twenty-year career, I have stored some unforgettable, creative and experimental moments...

The b2b session by Carl Cox and Laurent Garnier, Dubfire intensely involved in the session as if it were a festival, the interview that lasted nearly an hour with Luciano, the incredible technique of Cristian Varela, the musical quality of Tania Vulcano, a young Willie Graff when he was only 17 years and showing his potential or Paco Osuna’ session just few days ago.

Many moments of pleasure and musical quality that we believe deserve a big celebration of the 20 years of Ibiza Dance in the first half of September with an outdoor party.

I thank you all for sharing and helping to us maintain the same enthusiasm as always. See you for the 20 th anniversary of Ibiza Dance radio show on the beach.

Estar en el estudio de Ibiza Global Radio a las 8 de la tarde sigue siendo para mí de lo mejor de la vida.

Ver pasar a los Dj y poner música creando un ambiente y armonía que une a la isla en un sonido de bienestar y que muchas veces nos hace olvidar cualquier problema.

Los Dj y productores de música se expresan y los oyentes escuchan, disfrutan y también valoran. Por eso, muchas veces da igual el nombre pero sí es importante la calidad del artista y el nivel que transmite por radio, que es algo diferente a pinchar en un club pero igual de interesante e importante.

Durante estos veinte años de carrera, tengo guardados momentos inolvidables, creativos y experimentales… La sesión b2b de Carl Cox y Laurent Garnier, Dubfire metido en la sesión como si estuviese en un festival, la entrevista de casi una hora a Luciano, la increíble técnica de Cristian Varela, la calidad musical de Tania Vulcano, a un joven Willie Graff que con tan solo 17 años ya apuntaba a maneras o la sesión de Paco Osuna hace sólo unos días.

Muchos momentos de placer y calidad musical que creemos que merecen celebrar a lo grande estos 20 años de Ibiza Dance durante la primera quincena de septiembre con una fiesta al aire libre.

MARCELO Baby Marcelo

Name: Where are you originally from?: I’m Italian, I love pasta, pizza, art and fashion!

Connection with Ibiza: My connection with Ibiza was the art director Brasilio de Oliveira who created many parties.

When and how did you start in show business?: When I was 6 in front of a mirror! (Laughs). I started studying theatre and dance in secondary school and at the age of 18 I went to Rome to study theatre. I come from a family of opera singers and musicians, from my mother’s side.

You have been working in different fields such as cinema, theatre and music. Which one do you preferr ?

Why?: I’m impressed by contemporary theatre, especially theatre-dance and music. I love to get excited and dream. Theatre is sacred!

How did you create the character of La Troya?: I got inspired by icons such as Lindsay Kemp, Divine and Leight Bowery. I wanted to impress, provoke the public and represent the transgressive soul of Ibiza.

You are working with DJ Oliver at “The Face e of Ibiza” @ Privilege. How did you come up with the idea and what is the concept?: I have been working with Oliver for many years, we are like brothers. “The Face of Ibiza” wants to represent and interpret the unique and magical soul of the island.

Which face off Ibiza do you prefer?: The one of freedom of expression, energy of the night, beauty of the beach, the mix of people, cultures and thoughts and tolerance.

Nombre: ¿De dónde eres?: Soy italiano, ¡me gusta la pasta, la pizza, el arte y la moda!

Conexión con Ibiza: Mi conexión con Ibiza fue el director artístico Brasilio de Oliveira, creador de muchas fiestas. ¿Cuándo y cómo empezaste en el mundo del espectáculo?: ¡A los 6 años delante de un espejo! (Risas) Empecé a estudiar teatro y danza en la escuela secundaria. Y a los 18 años me fui a Roma a estudiar teatro.Vengo de una familia, por parte de mi madre, de cantantes de ópera y músicos.

Has trabajado en varios ámbitos como el cine, el teatro y el mundo de la música. ¿Cuál te atrae más? ¿Por qué?: Me atrae mucho el teatro contemporáneo, en particular el teatro-danza y la música. Me gusta emocionarme y soñar. ¡El teatro es sagrado! ¿Cómo definirías tus performances?: Contaminación e ironía. ¿Cómo nació el personaje de La Troya?: Me inspiré en iconos como Lindsay Kemp, Divine, Leight Bowery.

Tenía ganas de sorprender, provocar al público y representar el espíritu transgresivo de Ibiza.

Name: Oliver Azor Where are you originally from?: Barcelona.

Connection with Ibiza: I’ve been living here since I was 17.

When and how did you start DJing?: I started in Barcelona in 1990. I had a small PC and used to make demos for my friends. Then I started to DJ at some small clubs like Moog, before I came to Ibiza.

You are working with Baby Marcelo at “The Face of Ibiza” @ Privilege. How did you come up with thee idea and what is the concept?: It was born three years ago, Marcelo and I wanted to develop our professional projects and created “The Face” to make new things. This year the concept is a manga version of Mickey Mouse. This year we have got a great line-up with international DJs like DJ Sneak, Francisco Allendes, David Piccioni, Uner, Simone Burrini, Obi Baby and many more.

What face of Ibiza do you prefer?: The one of Baby Marcelo (Laughs).

What do you think Ibiza means for a DJ?: A lot! I think we are really lucky to be here.

What has been your biggest success in your long career as DJ and producer?: Having worked with Beyoncé in Brazil and as a producer having collaborated with Roger Sánchez releasing two hits which were successful worldwide, the last one was called “I can’t live without music”.

Where do you usually go when you want to relax after a good party?: To a very hidden and almost unknown cove, or I go home, where I can relax a lot.

Conexión con Ibiza: Llevo aquí desde los 17 años. ¿Cuándo y cómo empezaste a pinchar?: Empecé en Barcelona en el año 1990. Tenía un pequeño ordenador y hacía mis maquetas para mis amigos. Luego empecé a pinchar en algún club pequeño como el Moog, hasta que me vine a Ibiza.

Trabajas con Baby Marcelo en la fiesta “The face of Ibiza” @ Privilege. ¿Cómo nace la idea y cuál es el concepto?: Nació hace tres años, Marcelo y yo queríamos evolucionar con nuestros proyectos profesionales y creamos “The Face” para hacer cosas nuevas. El concepto este año es Micky Mouse pero con una versión manga. Este año tenemos un cartel de lujo con DJ internacionales como Dj Sneak, Francisco Allendes, David Piccioni, Uner, Simone Burrini, Obi Baby y muchos más. ¿Cuál es la cara de Ibiza que prefieres??: La de Baby Marcelo (risas). ¿Qué crees que representa Ibiza para un Dj?: ¡Muchísimoooo! Creo que tenemos mucha suerte de poder estar aquí. ¿Cuál ha sido tu mayor éxito en tu larga carrerra como Dj y productor?: Haber trabajado con Beyoncé en Brasil y como productor haber trabajado con Roger Sánchez y haber sacado con él dos hits que sonaron en todo el mundo, el último llamado “I cant live without music”.

Cuando quieres relajarte después de una buena fiesta, ¿adónde vas?: A alguna cala muy escondida que casi nadie sabe, o en casita donde me relajo un montón.

CRITICISM AND THIS IS HOW MY FIERCE OF THE SPANISH FILM AND T TV INDUSTRY GOES - 2 º PAR I will continue and finish the criticism I began last month and I would like to remind those in charge of the film and TV industry that perhaps they should check the work that “The Comedians”, the actors whose footsteps we follow in, produced with supreme dignity in hard times. Now they do not make products such as those of master filmmaker Berlanga, because there are no trained actors, just good-looking young guys yearning for fame.

As I said last month, acting schools in Spain are trying to survive using lies. They sell training to young, hopeful people by selling the misleading possibility of becoming popular actors in a relatively easy way.

Only a few recognized and prestigious schools in Spain have the decency to warn them that educattion is only a first phase and still insufficient training to become actors.

As I said and repeat: “A ALMOST ALL MOVIES AND EVERYTHING ON TV IN SPAIN IS SHIT.” I say “ALMOST” because there are directors like Rodrigo Cortés (“Buried”), who in his upcoming movie “Red Lights”, filmed in part in Barcelona last February and starring great actors like Robert De Niro and Sigourney Weaver, chose some unknown Spanish actors for supporting roles. Those actors, through a lot of hard work, won a FAIR casting se election process which was supervised by the director and I was one of the selected actors.

AHÍ VA MI FEROZ CRITICA A LA INDUSTRIA DEL CINE Y TV EN ESPAÑA - 2º PARTE Siguiendo y finalizando mi crítica que inicié el mes pasado, me gustaría recordarle a la gente que manda en la industria del cine y la TV que quizás deberían revisar el trabajo que nuestros actores antecesores “Los Cómicos” hicieron con una dignidad suprema, en tiempos difíciles. Ya no se hacen productos como los que el maestro Berlanga nos regaló, porque ya no hay actores con oficio, solo niños bonitos con ansias de fama.

Como dije el pasado mes, las escuelas en España son negocios que intentan sobrevivir a base de mentiras. Venden una formación que llena de ilusión a jóvenes a los que venden la posibilidad engañosa de llegar a ser actores populares de una forma relativamente fácil.

GREEN CASITA VERDE, A PLACE WITH A GREEN HEART Between 3 and 5,000 visitors come to Casita Verde every year.

Chris first came to Ibiza in 1995 after spending 12 years traveling the world on big ships as a radio officer. He was rather upset about the amount of destruction that he saw, and besides, the island is the most beautiful island he had ever seen in the world. So he decided to come back in 1988 to do something about it. Its name comes from a washing liquid called Casa Verde and in 2001 Chris designed this green heart logo. People love nature, that’s the message.

Sundays are their main event, apart from beach cleaning and education projects. People go to enjoy a beautiful vegetarian buffet, mostly of local products from the island and ecological food. They

have nice music in the garden, very often you can find musicians playing live, and Chris does a tour after the lunch. They also serve aloe vera drink and lemonade, all local drinks. You can enjoy their delicious carob coffee which is very good for your body because it contains minerals.

Now Casita Verde is also open on Thursdays, called “Juicy Thursdays” because they serve a lot of juices.

Chris says they are trying Thursday to support their movement because lately it’s been slowing down a little bit, especially in summertime. From 7:30 to 11:30pm you can enjoy a pleasant atmosphere and take part in some workshops, like ecotoilette, and then he will take you on a highly recommended tour of Casita Verde.

CASITA VERDE, UN LUGAR CON CORAZÓN VERDE Chris llegó a Ibiza por primera vez en 1995, después de 12 años viajando por el mundo en grandes naves en las que trabajaba de operador de radio. A pesar de considerar Ibiza la isla más bonita en el mundo, quedó decepcionado por la cantidad de destrucción que vio. Es por eso que en 1998 decidió hacer algo al respecto. Chris eligió el nombre Casita Verde, que viene de un líquido para limpiar llamado Casa Verde, y en 2001 diseñó el famoso logo del corazón verde.

El mensaje que quiere transmitir es que la gente ama la naturaleza.

El evento principal de la Casita Verde son los domingos, además de acciones como limpiar las playas y otros proyectos educativos. La gente acude para disfrutar de un delicioso buffet vegetariano, hecho de productos locales de la isla y comida ecológica. En el jardín

Cada año alrededor de 3.000-5.000 personas visitan la Casita Verde. ponen buena música y a menudo hay bandas tocando en directo; además, después de comer Chris organiza una visita guiada del lugar.

También se sirven bebidas locales como las de aloe vera, limonadas y su delicioso café de algarrobo que es muy bueno para el cuerpo, ya que lleva minerales.

Ahora la Casita Verde abre también los jueves, llamados “Juicy Thursdays”, en los que se sirven muchos zumos distintos. Chris nos explica que estos jueves sirven para apoyar el movimiento, ya que últimamente la afluencia ha bajado un poco, sobre todo en verano.

Desde las 19:30 hasta las 22:30 podréis disfrutar de un ambiente bonito y participar en distintos talleres, como el de ecotoilette y a continuación Chris os hará una visita guiada más que recomendable por la Casita Verde.

Last Thursday 12 of July we went to the inauguration of “La Bodeguera”, a new place where you can have tapas and other exquisite dishes, have a drink and meet your friends. The divine Paola Cuervo and the lovely Bruno Viel will welcome you. “La Bodeguera” is the new meeting point for the people of the island and the night, and an excellent place before going to Mona Lisa, Dóme, Soap Café or JJ Bar. Especially this year there are parties in clubs and also at the beach until midnight, like at Ushuaia and La Plage de l’Elephant at Playa d’en Bossa.

Last Saturday we were at La Plage, on the terrace on the first floor where we were able to admire the wonderful, beautifully decorated and frequented beach. We also tried the excellent cuisine Anastasia served and had sangría de cava with Christian Dori.

Every Saturday the Heaven Madrid party is held with very good music, moments of pure happiness but not drinking too much!

After that, Idris and all his staff will welcome you at the famous restaurant L’Elephant in San Rafael or you can just carry on with your night.

A scoop: next to L’Elephant, the Cadenza’s Café Vagabundos will open, which no doubt will be the event of the summer.

El jueves 12 de julio fuimos a la inauguración de “La Bodeguera”, un nuevo local donde se pueden degustar tapas y otros platos exquisitos, beber una copa y reunirse con los amigos. Ahí os recibirá la divina Paola Cuervo y el simpatiquísimo Bruno Viel. “La Bodeguera” es el nuevo lugar de encuentro para la gente de la isla y de la noche, y un excelente sitio antes de pasar por el Mona Lisa, Dóme, Soap Café o JJ Bar. Este año en especial hay fiestas en los clubs pero también en las playas abiertas hasta la medianoche, como en Ushuaia y La Plage de l’Elephant en Playa d’en Bossa.

Estuvimos en La Plage el sábado pasado, en la terraza del primer piso donde desde la altura pudimos admirar la fantástica playa decorada con mucho gusto y superbamente frecuentada. También degustamos la excelente cocina que nos sirvió Anastasia y en compañía de Christian Dori nos tomamos una sangría de cava.

Todos los sábados tiene lugar la fiesta Heaven Madrid con muy buena música, en la que se puede disfrutar de ¡un momento de pura felicidad a consumir con moderación!

After graduating in Theory and technique of film language with a thesis on Pasolini, Riccardo started researching and writing scripts.

Between 2002 and 2004 he produced and wrote 3 short films, although in 2004 he began to focus on other artistic areas, such as graphic design and painting.

Since 2006 his graphic production has not stopped, combining the use of technology with increasingly deepened study of the manual drawing which is scanned afterwards.

Between 2006 and 2009 he produced 85 works in various media graphic styles and techniques reminiscent of Warhol’s Pop Art, even including abstract expressionism and Italian comics.

He also makes oil paintings, acrylics, acrylic pastes and silk screen canvas collages. In 2007 he started working as a fashion photographer and graphic designer for major advertising campaigns.

In March 2009 he dedicated himself to working on an exhibition of painting and graphics together with another artist and with a common subject, Mallory Boop. For an entire month the artists work in a sulphur quarry in Bracciano (near Rome) where they could study lights, movements, and then recreate them elsewhere. So “Mallory Boop and The circus of sulphur dreams” was created and in 2010 shown in various galleries and festivals in Italy.

Riccardo currently lives and works in Ibiza where he continues to produce works of art.

Después de licenciarse en Teoría y técnica del lenguaje cinematográfico con una tesis sobre Pasolini, Riccardo empieza a investigar y escribir guiones.

Entre 2002 y 2004 produce y escribe 3 cortometrajes, aunque ya en 2004 empieza a centrarse en otros ámbitos, como gráfica, diseño y pintura.

Desde 2006 no ha parado su producción gráfica, compaginando el uso de la tecnología con el estudio cada vez más profundizado del dibujo manual que después digitaliza.

Entre 2006 y 2009 produce 85 obras gráficas en distintos soportes con estilo y técnica que recuerdan el Pop Art warholiano, y llegando hasta el expresionismo abstracto y el cómic italiano.

Además, realiza óleos, acrílicos, pastas acrílicas y collages de canvas serigrafiados.

En 2007 empieza a trabajar como fotógrafo de moda y diseñador gráfico para importantes campañas publicitarias.

En marzo de 2009 nace el proyecto de una exposición de pintura y gráfica con otra artista y un soggetto común, Mallory Boop.

Durante un mes entero los artistas trabajan en una cantera de azufre de Bracciano (cerca de Roma) para estudiar luces, movimientos y representaciones que después recrean en otros lugares. Así surge “Mallory Boop and The circus of sulfur dreams” que en 2010 se expone en distintas galerías y festivales italianos.

Actualmente Riccardo vive y trabaja en Ibiza donde sigue produciendo obras de arte.

Destacamos, además, su nueva colección de camisetas de N&D by White Rabbit.

Interview with Luca Santoro, owner of La Scalinatella Name: Luca Santoro Where are you from?: Naples, although I have been living in Ibiza for 14 years.

Why do people call you Luca Pacha?: Because I have been working for Pacha for 7 years together with Francisco Ferrer. I run a bar at the club called “Punto G” which is the meeting point of the most peculiar people of Ibiza. This year you can see me there each Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Relationship with the island: A dream come true.

How did you come out with the idea of opening La Scalinatella?: I have always felt passion for the Mediterranean cuisine, I have wanted to open a restaurant for years but couldn’t find the right place. This place enchanted me from the beginning: it has the best view of Ibiza. We can see 6 different islands. In addition, 50 years ago this was the trendiest and gay area of Ibiza.

What kind of food do you offer your clients?: Neapolitan. All our products come from Italy. We are the only one on the Balearic Islands who have an original oven made of volvanic stone from Vesuvious which can reach a temperature of 500º C. We have got an excellent Italian coffee, handmade ice cream and also the famous pastiera, a typical Neapolitan dessert.

What dishes would you recommend to our readers?: Without doubt a fish dish, for example paccheri ai 3 crostacei or risotto alla pescatora.

The ideal dinner after a day on the beach: With friends and looking at the sea, towards Formentera.

A curiosity about your restaurant: For the inauguration of La Scalinatella my friend Slash from Guns N’ Roses was here.

Relación con la isla: Un sueño hecho realidad. ¿Cómo nació la idea de abrir La Scalinatella?: Siempre me ha apasionado la cocina mediterránea, hacía años que quería montar un restaurante pero no encontraba el local ideal.

Este sitio me ha encantado desde el principio: tiene la mejor vista de Ibiza. En frente tenemos 6 islas. Además, hace 50 años esta zona era la más trendy de Ibiza, la zona gay. ¿Qué tipo de comida ofrecéis a vuestros clientes?: Napolitana. Todos nuestros productos llegan desde Italia. Somos los únicos en las Baleares en tener un horno original de piedra vulcánica del Vesubio que llega hasta 500 ºC. Tenemos un excelente café italiano, helado artesanal y también la famosa pastiera, un postre típico napolitano. ¿Cuáles platos sugerirías a nuestros lectores?: Sin duda un plato de pescado, por ejemplo paccheri ai 3 crostacei o risotto alla pescatora.

La cena ideal después de un día en la playa: Con amigos y mirando el mar, hacia Formentera.

El lunes por la noche al entrar al Amnesia, vi una caseta de color roja en el parking, no le presté mucha atención, solo quería entrar y pasarlo bien con mis amigos.

Dentro el ambiente estaba genial.

Me bebí el último ron con cola poco antes de que se acabara la fiesta.

No me acordaba de que tenía que conducir...

How long have you been working for Matinée Group?: I started in summer 2010 in Ibiza, I have been working all winter with them in Barcelona and again this summer 2011 in Ibiza.

Pros and cons of your job: Pros are the relationship with my workmates, new friendships and seeing people’s faces admiring me while I’m dancing. Cons are the big stage displays above my head and painful clothing I have to wear.

Day or night?: Both. Day because I love the beach and the sun. And night because I love to dance, go partying, have dinner with my friends and so on.

Your ideal man: Tall, dark skin, respectful, who makes me laugh and, above all, that I mean everything to him.

Fortunately, I have already found him!

A project: I think my project is to create my home, start a family with my man, always have my friends and family near and united, finish studying and be happy.

Your favourite place in Ibiza: Salinas beach for its sentimental value: it reminds me one of my best nights ever, the most unforgettable night of summer 2010.

And finally, what do you think about our magazine?: I love to see all the information it has, and the pictures, since there’s always someone I know.

Nombre: Arantxa Martinez Años: 23 Signo zodiacal: Tauro ¿De dónde eres?: Valencia Conexión con Ibiza: La principal conexión es el trabajo, el baile y sobre todo los amigos que ves de verano en verano haciendo temporada en Ibiza. ¿Desde hace cuánto tiempo o trabajas para Matinée Group?: Empecé en el verano 2010 en Ibiza, he estado todo el invierno trabajando con ellos en Barcelona y una vez más este verano 2011 en Ibiza.

Lados positivos y negativos de tu trabajo: Los lados positivos es la unión entre compañeros, la nuevas amistades y ver las caras de la gente que te admira mientras bailas. Los lados negativos son los grandes montajes en la cabeza o los vestuarios dolorosos. ¿Día o noche?: Creo que las dos cosas. El día porque me encanta disfrutar de la playa y el sol. Y la noche porque me gusta bailar, salir de fiesta, ir de cenita con mis amigos, etc.

Tu hombre ideal: Alto, de piel morena, respetuoso, que me haga reír y sobre todo que sea todo para él. ¡Por suerte ya lo he encontrado!

Un proyecto: Creo que mi proyecto es hacer mi propio hogar, crear una familia con mi chico, tener siempre a mis amigos y familia cerca y unidos, terminar mis estudios y como no, ser feliz.

Tu lugar favorito en Ibiza: La playa de Salinas por el valor sentimental que tiene: me recuerda a una de mis mejores noches, la más inolvidable del verano 2010.

Debora, Daniela y Carmen. ¿De dónde sois?: Varese, Italia.

Conexión con Ibiza: Vinimos de vacaciones y fue un verdadero flechazo. ¿Desde hace cuántos años os conocéis?: Debora y Daniela: Desde que tenemos 5 años. Conocimos a Carmen en 2006 aquí en Ibiza. ¿Cómo o surgió la idea de abrir un restaurante en Ibiza?: Desde pequeñas soñábamos con abrir nuestro negocio. Lo hemos hecho con mucha pasión, aunque no ha sido fácil. Ahora estamos muy satisfechas del resultado. Además, las tres tenemos una actividad paralela: Debora es RRPP, Daniela tiene una agencia inmobiliaria de casas de lujo (http://www.realestateibz.com/) y Carmen es la propietaria de “Es Passadis”, un restaurante en Calle de la Virgen, y está abriendo “La Bufalina”, un bar-pastelería en Vara de Rey. Lados positivos y negativos del trabajo auttónomo: Valoramos mucho la autonomía, ya que nadie puede decirte lo que tienes que hacer, y también la adrenalina que se siente. ¡No nos gusta nada la vida monótona! Lados negativos: el estrés y el hecho de que mucha gente dependa de nosotras. Además, cada día hay alguna cuestión que resolver. ¿Qué podemos encontrar en Buena Onda?: Buena energía, comida rica y casera y un sitio bonito con una espléndida vista al mar.

Un desayuno regenerador después de una noche de fiiesta: Un zumo natural multivitamínico, huevos revueltos y un cruasán casero con crema pastelera.

What opportunities does Ibiza offer to enterprising women?: Ibiza is a magical place and makes doing business fun and exciting, it’s very different to corporate America and works well for me and my lifestyle.

Pros and cons of working free-lan nce: Advantages are that you have no boss, except your clients, no one there over your head, making you stress and then keeping all the credit and rewards when you get the job done. Disadvantages… Zero.

Advice for young people who want to start a business: Be logical, try new things and be efficient.

How does this season 2011 promise to be e from the business point of view?: Overbooking!

Háblanos de tu proyecto Be Real Ibiza. ¿Cuándo y cómo surgió la idea? ¿Qué te impulsó a emprender?: La idea nació con 4 amigos, aunque al final yo fui la única que la convirtió en realidad. Decidí empezar mi empresa en 2007 por muchas razones: mi madre, mi futuro, etc.

Como mujer emprendedora, ¿qué oportunidades ofrece Ibiza?: Ibiza es un sitio mágico y tener tu propio negocio aquí es divertido y emocionante; es muy distinto a la mentalidad empresarial americana y encaja bien conmigo y mi estilo de vida. ¿Cuáles son las ventajjas y desventajas de trabajar de forma autónoma?: Las ventajas son que no tienes jefe, excepto tus clientes, nadie por encima tuyo que te estrese y luego se quede con el dinero y las recompensas una vez que el trabajo está hecho.

Desventajas… Ninguna.

Where are you originally from?: Born in Arles, the country of Christian Lacroix and Van Gogh. Before Ibiza I used to live in Montpellier and Casablanca.

Connection with Ibiza: I have always come on holiday and I’ll probably stay here all my life. The island can quickly chase you away or adopt you. I think Ibiza adopted me!

Tell us about your company Eventos Great. How long have you been in the Ibiza market?: Like Night&Day, Eventos Great is 5 years old. We have developed together.

What kind of services do you offer your clients?: Eventos Group is an event and services agency and also a real estate agency. I have got the certificate of real estate advisor, there are very few of us doing this job legally on the island.

What’s the big news this summer for Eventos Great?: This summer we are going to launch our new website and work with new collaborators: Michael Janitor (aoraki.com, Petals flower shop) will be in charge of the Service Concierge, Patty Berger (Fuck me & Famous Team) for public relations and we’re still working with Franck Navarro and Dorian in New York.

Describe the concept of Eventos Great in 3 words: Professionalism, efficiency and cordiality.

What do you expect from the 2011 season?: I hope that people who, 4 years ago with the previous government decided to go to other Mediterranean countries, will come back. We hope to see Ibiza like it used to be.
