The Nicollet County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on Tuesday, February 27 at 9:00 a.m. The board discussed the Ducks Unlimited Lake Region gambling permit, renewal of Consumption
and Display Permit for Nicollet Conservation Club, Inc., end of probations, acknowledgement of the Auditor’s Warrants and approval of the Commissioner Warrants as presented for the following amounts: a. General Revenue Fund $110,460.30; b. Road & Bridge Fund $21,994.32; c. Human Services Fund -
$140,017.93 There were no public appearances. Under Health and Human Services, the board discussed County Burial-Cremation Policy. Director Sassenberg came forward to request approval of the County Burial-Cremation Policy, which provides the County’s framework for decision-

Mankato Brewer y Hosts Robotics Team Fundraiser

NORTH MANKATO – Mankato Brewery played host to a fundraiser for local high school and middle school robotics teams DJ YuWish mixing it up at last week’s performance with !ntelligent Des!gn at Aesthetic Texts and Records in Saint on Saturday, March 9 from noon to Peter for a hiphop showcase event. He will DJ at another venue, SelfMadeGlory (SMG) on 729 S. 2nd Street in 3 p.m. and from 7 to 10 p.m. Ten Mankato on March 29, along with other local artists. Nicollet County Historical Society to Host its Annual Meeting with Featured Speaker Rachael Hanel SAINT PETER - The Nicollet County Historical Society is pleased to announce its Annual Meeting covering 2023 on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at the Treaty Site History Center at 1851 N. Minnesota Ave., Saint Peter, MN. The doors will open at 1:00 p.m., with the business meeting starting at 1:30 p.m., followed by this year’s featured speaker, Rachael Hanel, tentatively scheduled for 2:00 p.m. The meeting is free and open to the public, and the Society provides light refreshments. The agenda for the business meeting will cover reports and key achievements of 2023 and culminate in the elections for the Board of Directors. Our featured speaker will take the podium after the meeting. Rachael Hanel will provide attendees with a deeper understanding of Camilla Hall, a Saint Peter resident whose notoriety stems from her association with the Symbionese Liberation Army. To accompany Rachael
competitions statewide and teams from Mankato West have been state champions for the past eight years. The fundraiser was held to raise money for the equipment and registration costs the robotics program incurs for students who are a part of it. The school district has a limited budget for these activities, which can cost nearly $2,000 just for registration in some cases, like national and world championship events, which
Mankato West students have also participated in. Parents started a non-profit to make up for the rest of the costs associated with the robotics team program. The parts for each robot cost around $3,000 for each robot. Robots are used in contests in which teams are tasked with completing a number of challenges using the robots. The fundraiser at the Mankato Brewery was a chance for the team

Hanel’s talk, her exhibit with NCHS, More Than a Headline: A Closer Look at the Art and Life of Camilla Hall, opens at the NCHS annual meeting. The display showcases several of Camilla’s prints and provides an overview of Camilla’s life—from her girlhood in St. Peter to her move to Minneapolis, Los Angeles, and ultimately to Berkeley, where her fate was sealed.
