August 6, Bogotá's birthday!

This year, Bogotá turns 482 years old and the celebration will take place with the necessary care and protection amid the most difficult moments of the pandemic that the country is experiencing. A date to summon the hope and drive that have always characterized us to move forward.

The Mayor's Office of Bogotá, the Ministry of Culture and the city's entities, recreation and entertainment, have prepared a wide program to share initiatives and proposals at home that highlight the best of the talent and creative capacity of all Bogota citizens.

August 7, Battle of Boyacá!

In our country, it is the holiday that evokes the day in 1819 when the Battle of Boyacá was fought, in which the Spanish army surrendered its weapons and the liberating army for Simón Bolivar triumphed. This date also has a tradition of tributes and official celebrations that revolve around national emblems. It is considered a national holiday of the national flag, regulating its celebration that date every year.

This year the celebration will have to go from the streets to the screens, thanks to the coronavirus. There will be a virtual parade considering health care, from the General José María Córdoba Military Cadet School, it can be viewed from the public channel RTVC.
