Nicole Garland Interior Design Portfolio
Info Bio I’m Nicole Garland and in this portfolio I display the work I have done through my college years along with a high school project. I am a graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology, located in Boston, MA, majored in Interior Design. I have known that I wanted to be an interior designer since my junior year of high school. What really drove me to do interior design, was the trade I was in at the time. I went to Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School, located in Haverhill, MA, with the concentration of CAD Drafting. I always felt joy in creating interiors, whether it be through drawing them or from the games that gave me the ability to design them. However, I didn’t realize I could do this for my career until I was introduced to the path of interior design from being in CAD Drafting. Aside from that, I still continue to create my own art; the pieces on this page are some of mine

Riverside Towle High School Problem Statement There isn’t a high school in the area created for students with neurological differences molded to their learning styles. There is a lot of stigma around neurological differences. Some question if neurodivergents are able to live independent lives, make choices for themselves, and have the ability to learn.
Design Concept The goal of this school is to provide a space for the students to learn and to accept their differences and disabilities. Many flexible choices of seating will be provided throughout to fit their individual needs. The school will create wayfinding for the student, making getting to class easier and utilize color, texture, and material to create sensory friendly spaces. The infinity symbol will be used as the main design motif, to create repeating patterns throughout and to remind the students of their community.

New England Studio Furniture Museum Mission of the Museum To dedicate a space to the past, present, and future of studio furniture artisans. By outlining the timeline of studio furniture within New England, mainly Massachusetts pieces, taking visitors from the present to the beginning of the movement. Also, to allow present artisans to have a space to sell and display their work and to inspire people to explore the craft. So that it won’t be forgotten within our fast pace world of mass-production.
Design Concept The museum takes on the feel of a marketplace but in a modernized and simplified way. This will be accomplished through its displays with the use of neutral colors and lighting to let the details of thefurniture shine. Juxtaposing structures will define spaces and visually lead visitors through the museum.

Doll House Redesign
About For my Senior Project in high school, I chose to take on the challenge to fix up an old doll house and to design all the rooms in it. For this project I had to: add new shingles and repaint the exterior; design all the furniture, by sketching them out and then creating them on Solidworks; 3D printed all the furniture pieces and placed them in the house along with applying the wallpaper and flooring to the rooms.
