IN MEMORY OF ANN EVERSOLE 1942 - 2017

Rock Chalk Revue 2020 would like to pay tribute to the life of one of the longest and strongest supporters of our production.

Ann Eversole dedicated her career to Student Affairs at both Emporia State University, from 1965 - 1973, and at the University of Kansas from 1978 until her retirement in 2009. During her time at the University of Kansas, she served as Assistant Dean of Women, Director of the Organizations and Activities Center, Associate Dean of Students, Assistant Vice Provost for Student Success, and was twice appointed Interim Dean of Students.

Ann served as an advisor to Rock Chalk Revue for over 20 years. Upon her retirement, the “Ann Eversole Rock Chalk Revue Fund” was created in her honor. Additionally, each year, the “Ann Eversole” Award is voted on by the Advisory Board and presented to a student who has shown tremendous dedication to Rock Chalk Revue and its success. Without her years of support and endless dedication, Rock Chalk Revue would not be the organization that it is today. Ann is and forever will be an integral piece of the traditition that is Rock Chalk Revue, and she will be dearly missed.

A LETTER FROM THE

THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUB From the one room Club location The Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence offers 15 program sites across town, 14 within elementary schools, where we provide an outcome-driven Club experience to help each member achieve academic success, good character & citizenship and healthy lifestyles. Our caring adult mentors incorporate the five key elements for positive youth development – a safe and positive environment, fun, supportive relationships, opportunities and expectations and recognition – for 1,500 young people every day.

We live by the mission: to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.The Boys & Girls Club serves a diverse population in Lawrence. BGCLK serves kids from various racial, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds. “Those who need us most” has many definitions. We are here for single parents, working parents, guardians, grandparents and positive mentors committed to their child receiving quality afterschool programming.

Boys & Girls Club targeted programs include Power Hour and Project Learn for academic success; Torch Club, Kids Vote and Junior Staff for good character and citizenship and Triple Play, cooking clubs, yoga, BGC basketball and volleyball leagues for healthy lifestyles. Speaking of healthy lifestyles, every fall, Boys & Girls Club hosts the “Lights On Talent Show.” Each of our 15 Club locations puts together a dance team that practices multiple times a week to prepare for the big event in October. With their BGC mentors - or wonderful volunteers - each dance team learns choreography.

When the event day arrives, all of the performers wear a costume to fit their theme and every single team performs on the Free State High School stage. There are almost 1,000 people in the audience! We recruit judges from the Lawrence Arts Center, Theatre Lawrence, Rock Chalk Dancers and more to do the scoring and crown the third, second and first place winners! It’s safe to say that our Lights On Talent Show performers are a BIG fan of Rock Chalk Revue!

The 2019-2020 Advisory Board is comprised of students who coordinate, manage, and produce all aspects of the production you see today. Over several months of preparation, the board is responsible for coordinating philanthropic events, attending community service projects, promoting, managing alumni relations, executing business and sales, as well as producing and directing the show.

The Advisory Board meets on a weekly basis to collaborate on ideas and pull the entire show together. As a member of the board, each officer serves a specific purpose to fulfill numerous responsibilities. The board members not only do an amazing job of completing their individual tasks, but also work together as a team to bring you this unforgettable event. Many of the Advisory Board’s responsibilities are behind the scenes, but without their hard work and dedication, the Rock Chalk Revue show would not be possible. Rock Chalk Revue continues Roy Wonder’s amazing tradition at the University of Kansas.
