We are delighted to welcome the first 6 boys into our Early Intervention class in September, 2022. An Early Intervention class provides support for children with ASD (Autism) for the 2 years before they start school. (age 35).

The children will learn to play, exercise their fine and gross motor skills, learn about the world through Aistear and develop life skills. T

he engagement in Restorative practice this year has been hugely successful. The children are identifying their feelings and emotions and are beginning to see the world from other perspectives and points of view. The programme is centred around empathy and reflection on how you and your behaviour can impact on your classmates.

The students are learning how to solve their conflicts and arguments in a calm and meaningful way. This skill will stand to them in all relationships and friendships in the future. There is a dramatic improvement in their problem-solving skills and the boys have begun to take responsibility for themselves and their actions.

It is okay to disagree with others and it is okay to feel angry or upset. What is very important is what you do with

those feelings. The boys are encouraged to make positive choices and to repair damaged relationships. It is refreshing to see the boys growing more compassionate and kinder each term.

The five questions are used each time a conflict arises and the students are beginning to solve these conflicts independently.

These life skills should help them to get along better with their peers and siblings. This year there has been a noticeable positive change in the school yard.

The boys are talking out their disagreements and enjoying games together. The boys have learned to both win and lose gracefully. They also now can acknowledge when they have done something to hurt someone else.

Most importantly they can figure out what to do next.

Apologising is a start but the boys also make agreements and do kind thing for one another.

Our lads started really strongly and got ahead by 3 points within the first 5 minutes.

O

n the 30th of May our Sciath na Scol Hurlers th from 4 , 5th and 6th class made the trip to Páirc Uí Rinn to take on St.Patrick’s National School, Gardiners Hill, in the Urban H1 final. The team had played 5 games in the lead up to the final, Winning 4 and drawing 1.

A total of 21 players from the panel played and contributed over the course of the season.

The team trained hard all year and the final was just reward for all their hard work, sweat and determination.

Conditions on the day were perfect for the game. There was great support for both schools in the stands from parents,

However a really determined and stubborn St.Pat’s side managed to reduced to the deficit to 1 Point by halftime.

An outstanding second half effort from the team and goal

by Sebi Mowinski and a 5 point contribution from Alex Molumby saw CBS win by a

score line of 1-5 to 0-5. The team should take great pride for the manner in which they dealt with a really strong and determined St.Pat’s side who never gave up until the very last whistle.

Luckily the score line went the way of CBS and captain Charlie McCarthy lifted the Urban H1 trophy for the first time in the school’s history. A huge credit must go to all the players, teachers and coaches who gave their time and effort over the duration of the season, CBS Abú.

And that’s a wrap for Sciath na Scol 2022! A huge congratulations to our winning Sciath na Scol hurling panel on their Urban H1 success. Pizza party was hugely enjoyed by all. Best of luck to our sixth class hurlers due to graduate over the next few weeks .

O

n the 30th May CBS was playing in the Sciath na Scol final. At 8.50 we got to pick our partners for the bus, I was partners with Lewis. Then we went onto a bus. Sadly we didn’t get to go on a double decker, but still, the bus we went on was very nice as well.

When we were half way, the

bus driver turned on blue lights inside. When we arrived at the stadium, we watched the match. It was CBS versus St Patrick’s. CBS was winning but St Patrick’s caught up. They were winning by a point but CBS scored a goal so they got 3 points! Yay!! Then the match ended! I thought we got lost

because the bus wasn’t there when we left. Then we got on our bus because it came to us.

When we got back to school we left the bus and our trip ended.

Please click HERE for more stories and photos Midleton CBS recently celebrated its inaugural Multicultural Day as our 248 pupils shared and delighted in the cultures of our school community. With 36 different nationalities to celebrate, it truly was a vibrant occasion!

Among the events organised was a ‘Multicultural Dress Up Day’ where pupils were invited to wear their traditional dress, the colours of their national flag or those of another country of choice. The result was a magnificently colourful display of attire proudly worn by one and all.

The boys of 1st and 2nd classes enjoyed multilingual storytelling sessions hosted by pupils from the senior end of the school. Our dual language library provides

books in a variety of languages Millionaire’ multicultural themed along with the English quiz.

Perhaps the most enjoyable part of the day was our multicultural experience event in the hall where pupils had the opportunity to visit themed stalls translations. biggest castle in the world and food from countries in Africa is so delicious (we all had a chance to taste it!!!) On the day the flags were part of the flag hunt and the whole school enjoyed it! Well done boys!!! Looking forward to our next project!

Please click HERE for more stories and photos Following a few days of race trials on the yard our CBS Athletics team was chosen to represent our school. After some race preparation and practice with M. Rory our team were off to the Cork City Sports again this year. It was held at MTU so our athletes travelled by bus with Múinteoir Gail and Múinteoir Rory.

The weather was beautiful and our athletes were ready and excited for the races. We competed well in all age groups, some boys narrowly missing out on a medal. The team effort overall was excellent by the boys. Midleton CBS athletes eventually won a silver and three bronze trophies- our winners beaming with their trophies in the team photos. The boys, their families and teachers can be very proud of their efforts this year and we hope we can build on this success next year. Comghairdeas libh, a bhuachaillí!!

Mn. Lucy's class and Mn. Anthony's class were delighted to be invited to Midleton FC today where we played a soccer tournament. The lads showcased the skills they have improved under the guidance of our TY coaches for the past few weeks.

Huge thanks to Mick Kirby and all the Transition Year students for giving the boys a fantastic day.

They have arrived….The Class of 2022 Hoodies just landed and we think they look great! A BIG thank you to Georgina Evans for organising them for our boys.

Preparations are currently in full swing for the sixth class boys upcoming graduation.

We are thrilled to be able to welcome parents/ guardians to our graduation ceremony after the upheaval of the past two years. The graduation ceremony is a special event as it provides the pupils with an opportunity to reflect on their journey through Midleton CBS

primary and a chance for us, as a staff to wish them well on their future journey. It also gives parents and guardians an opportunity to witness the development and growth of the boys first-hand.

The boys have been busy creating art displays to be put on display in the hall during the ceremony. They have also chosen a graduation song that they will be singing for us all on

the night. We are also delighted that a pupil from each class has agreed to speak at the ceremony to share their thoughts with us. The ceremony will take place on Monday, the 27th of June and we look forward to meeting the pupils and their parents/ guardians on the night.

On Saturday the 14th of May, the boys in 2nd Class received their First Holy Communion. The boys had worked so hard to prepare for their big day by practising their prayers and hymns.

Their hard work paid off and they enjoyed a beautiful ceremony, officiated

by Father Jim. Múinteoir Andrea, Colette and the school choir made the ceremony even more special for the boys with their lovely renditions of the hymns. It was a very memorable day for the boys and their families!

On the 24th of May our Sixth Class boys came together to receive their Sacrament of Confirmation, to say our school community were proud of the boys is an understatement.

The boys had been preparing hard all year for this sacrament and their hard work was so evident in the church that day. It was a lovely ceremony and I think we would all agree, the boys’ engagement, singing and behaviour was superb. We would like to thank Fr. Jim for all his support during the school year and the lovely ceremony he gave for the confirmation.

To Múinteoir Andrea and the school choir for their amazing singing on the day, and all the work they put into preparing for both the Communion and the Confirmation in the lead up to the sacrament. Many thanks to the parents for all their work and support in the preparations. Finally, the Sixth Class boys who all seemed to enjoy this special mile stone in their Christian journey, congratulations and well done!

Our Student Council continue to play a very important role in our school. The Student Council consists of six members: Conor, Jack, Callum, Aaron, Oliver and Rónán. The Council are great representatives for our school.

The members ensure that our pupils voices are heard and

bring important matters to our attention. Throughout the year we have held termly meetings and we have discussed these important matters. The student council have made a great effort throughout the year to ensure our PE equipment is maintained and ready to use.

As we come to the last few weeks of the year I would like to say a big thank you to all of the members of the Student Council for their hard work and dedication throughout the year. The boys were very eager to help and took their roles very seriously. They showed great dedication to the school.

e have had a wonderful year in the nurture room. We have enjoyed yoga and mindfulness.

We have baked and enjoyed art activities.

We celebrated birthdays and had lots of fun.

In our final term we have focussed on our local environment. In the spring we were able to see the hooded crows building a nest in the tree outside the nurture room window. We watched each day as the parent birds built the nest and took care of their eggs. This led us to exploring the area in and around the school.

We visited the “Feathers” and learned how the Choctaw Indians supported the people of Ireland during the famine. We have also explored the flora and

fauna of the area around the “Feathers” and Ballinacurra Woods. The boys enjoyed identifying the various birds and plants. They were really delighted to see the heron normally located further up the river, feeding in the mud flats by the “Feathers”. We were also lucky enough to see mullet swimming in the river. The boys became very interested in the plants and birds in the school grounds. We used an app to help us identify the various plants and we used the worldwide web to help us identify birds. The boys were particularly interested in various birds highlighted on the posters in the sheds. We tried our best to find as many of the birds and plants listed here. It wasn’t all work and no play. We

also enjoyed trips to the playground.

The boys had great fun playing on the swings, slides and obstacle course. If only Stephen Kenny had been watching when we played soccer on the astro! The boys have developed their skills and the future of soccer in our school looks bright. We also have some aspiring NBA stars as the boys honed their basketball techniques. The boys also had great fun playing chase. What a fantastic year it has been!!

For our end of year school fundraiser, we hosted a whole school Summer Raffle. This was organised by Múinteoir Melissa and Múinteoir Lorna. The school looked to local businesses to sponsor prizes and they did not disappoint. Between hampers, vouchers, gifts and more the response was overwhelming and greatly appreciated by all involved. The boys themselves did an outstanding job in filling their sponsorship cards. They took on this task with great enthusiasm and called to family, friends and neighbours, getting everyone involved. Two boys in particular stood out as they worked as a team to sell a massive total of eleven full cards each. Well done Tomasz and Igor!! In total the raffle raised over €4,000, which will be used to purchase equipment to enhance our outdoor classroom and yard spaces. This will allow our boys to engage in even more fun activities outdoors and increase their opportunities to benefit from hands on learning.

n the th 25 of May, we welcomed a group of energetic boys and their parents to CBS. This group of children are set to be our incoming first classers in September.

Two classrooms were set aside for an eruption of laughter and enthusiasm. The boys had a wonderful time exploring their new environment with Múinteoir Amy and Múinteoir Lorna.

S

hrieks of excitement could be heard rippling through out the school. The group were elated with the prospect of being in a new classroom with their friends. The boys said goodbye to their parents, who went to the school hall for an information and tea session with Príomhoide Niamh, and began to have fun with their friends.

T

he children were introduced to a range of Aistear activities. Sociodramatic roleplays, small world habitats, construction areas and sand scenes (to name a few) were enjoyed. The barber shop was a favoured area and the boys loved creating new styles with some of the wigs on offer! After a brief conversation and a snappy story, it was time to find parents again.

T

he time flew by and nobody wanted the session to end. The enormous smiles on the face of each individual child was enough to assume that the children are excited to join us in CBS in September. I cannot wait to meet you all again!

ow lucky are we?

A cooking lesson with our very own caretaker Denis, using things we grew in our school garden. We all learned so much from Denis who is a trained chef and so talented! What a fantastic experience for the boys and adults! Thank you

The boys in 4th and 5th class got busy in the school kitchen this term. We started off by making our own butter to investigate how forces can change materials. We used a

A few days ago our class had a milkshake party. It was lots of fun. Read on to find out more.

First our teacher added 9g of chocolate powder in a cup. Next, he poured in 200ml of milk. After that he handed out the cups and said, “Don’t drink it yet.” Then he handed out different ingredients like chocolate and caramel sauce.

He also handed out marshmallows and whipped

jam jar, some cream and a marble. Then ten minutes (and several tired arms) later we had delicious butter. Of course, we had to have something to eat it with so we whipped up some

cream. Teacher drizzled in chocolate and caramel sauce in my cup. Then he sprayed the whipped cream on and then he put on the marshmallows. It tasted like a creamy, foamy, heavenly blend of ingredients all in one cup. The chocolate milk was nice and cold. The delicious taste of both the sauces in the cup. The glorious taste of the chewy marshmallows.

scones. Finally, we treated ourselves to dessert and made chocolate chip cookies. We learned loads about measuring weight, procedure writing and materials and change, but we all

Claud Monet

By Brian Claude Monet is a very famous painter.

Today we’re going to learn about Monet.

Claude Monet was born on November 14th, 1840.

He was from Paris in France. He was inspired by Japanese art. He painted 2,500 paintings. The most famous painting is ‘Sunrise’. It took him less than an hour to finish one painting.

Monet had two wives, two children and one sibling. The meaning of Monet is being heard. Claude Monet was also good at cooking.

M. Lisa and M. Fiona's classes had a super trip to the Graffiti theatre on Tuesday! We had a creative writing workshop as part of our creative schools program!

It has been a fantastic busy year for developing our Creative School in Midleton CBS. Our Creative School’s liaison visited us to help us discover some areas that we would like to become more creative in. We took part in many activities covering dance, biodiversity, drama, science and overall just having fun! Some classes even got to make bird boxes which we placed near The Feathers for nesting birds to raise their new families. We were lucky to take some trips and get involved in the activities in places like UCC, The Firkin Crane and The Graffiti Theatre in Cork City. Both teachers and children have discovered lots about their creative sides and got lots of chances to express themselves creatively like never before. Thank you to the Arts Council for the funding and we look forward to next year where we get to focus on some of the things we did this year in more depth.

This year with the help of funding from The Arts Council we had a brilliant opportunity to work with an artist, Divi, to help us create a school song. Divi is a lyricist and dancer from Brazi who showed us lots about her culture too. We learned how to put lyrics together to incorporate all we love about our school including Alfie our

school dog, our Outdoor Learning Area, our Nurture Room, the Astro and jungle gym and our fantastic teachers and SNA's. Muinteoir Andrea then jumped in to create the lovely music behind the song. And finally Colette Barry played the music on the piano to back us singing. Here’s us working super hard learning the lyrics and

practicing the song so watch out for our final presentation in the next few weeks! The school got to sing our song for the first time together at the Sciath na Scoile final which helped our boys to win the cup!

Yesterday we went to town. First we saw the barbers. They waved at us.

Then we went to the garda station.

We saw a motorbike. It was loud!

Finally we went to the fire station.

It was so much fun!

On Monday, we went for a walk in Midleton to see people who help us.

First, we saw the barber shop. There was a happy customer getting his hair cut.

We passed the post office, the pharmacy, the butcher and the dentist.

Then we walked to the garda station where we saw 6 Gardaí, their cars and a motorbike. The guards let us sit into the car and hear the siren.

After that we went to the hospital.

We saw an ambulance, patients, doctors and nurses.

Finally, we arrived at the fire station.

t the start of 2nd class we met our new teacher M. Lisa. We also got a new boy in our class called Brandon. We entered the Reel Life Science competition with our science experiment video called ‘Pongy Poo’. This was a big hit with all of the boys in our school! For Halloween we had our Monsters on the Move walk around Midleton town dressed in our costumes. Some of our boys had a great time in the Nurture Room with Una and M. Margaret. They did lots of baking and went on lots of adventures. Some of our boys

made it into Our Gold Book! For P.E. we played basketball, learned gymnastics, had scavenger hunts, went orienteering and played so many games. Our amazing Andrew choreographed the dance we learned to Chakira’s Waka Waka. We even posted this on YouTube. For science we did lots of experiments; we made cookies, we made Martians, planted seeds and had a cooking demonstration with our brilliant caretaker Denis. Denis also taught some of the boys to juggle. Recently we had a big day out at the

Sciath na Scoil final. Our team won and we were so proud of them. We are gong to Perks today on our school tour and we can’t wait. We have had a brilliant year in second class and we are so looking forward to our summer holidays.

e went to the feathers to find out about habitats. We looked for insects, flowers, trees and birds. Then we took loads of photos and played hide and seek. It was so much fun. Then I threw a huge rock into the water. I had the best time of my life.

went to the estuary with my class, M. Lisa, Ciara and Fran. When we got there we had a look around. We looked for swans, birds, trees, plants and flowers. The swans flew over our heads. It was cool!

s part of our Creative School initiative M. Lisa and M. Fiona’s classes went to a creative writing workshop in the Grafitti Theatre. We wrote a story together and it even got published in a book for us all to keep. Here is one of our stories.

Once upon a time, there was a villain named Invisible Man. Invisible Man is trying to find Mr. Spy. There are two policemen walking around the town. The policemen find Invisible Man but not Mr. Spy. All of a sudden, Invisible Man gets scared as is afraid that he is about to wet himself. Then Invisible Man sneaks away. He uses his hands to scare people but he scares too many people so he faints. Then he wakes up in a sewer tied up. Mr. Spy breaks

out of jail and rescues Invisible Man and gets a knife to cut the ropes. They both break out of the sewer by busting up the manhole with an explosion.

BOOM! Invisible Man says “Whiheeee!” Then Mr. Spy and Invisible Man head back to base. They were thinking about robbing a bank together by being sneaky. The policemen saw Invisible Man and Mr. Spy drive into their base through CCTV. Then the policemen follow them. Mr. Spy lies that Invisible Man had abused him and the other policeman puts him in jail. He betrays Invisible Man and has him put in jail.

When he realised that his cars were gone he took €500,000 from Mr. Spy. Mr. Spy was furious. He wants to get away from Invisible Man. They meet again in the future and they say sorry to each other and Invisible Man gives back his €500,000. Mr. Spy gives back his cars and they are both happy again.

We went up to Cork on a bus. When we arrived at Páirc Uí Rinn we walked to our seats. We cheered as we took the lead. I saw my Nan at the match. She had sweets for me but she couldn’t give them to me because there were so many children! Then we had to wait until the bus arrived. We played games on the way back. When we got back we ate our lunch and watched a movie. We watched The Lego Movie! --- Lewis

First we got on the bus and I sat next to Oliwier. We went to Páirc Uí Rinn on the bus. When we got there we sat down and waited until the match started. It was CBS versus St Patrick’s. The match started at 10am. After five minutes it was 3 points to 1 for CBS. St Patrick’s neede to step their game up. At half time it was a tie at 3-3. Three minutes in CBS scored a point and got the lead.

St Patrick’s came back and then it was 5 points each. The CBS got the sliotar and had some nice passing. Ciarán shot and hit the back of the net! CBS won!!

Douglas and Cork. The match took place at Páirc Uí Rinn. It was a close match but CBS won by 8 points to 5. There were a lot of supporters cheering on both sides. We were proud and delighted when CBS won. The team got a trophy and medals, I went to school and everybody the captain of the team was was wondering who would win, us or St Pats? When everybody was ready we picked our partners, I picked Jack. Then we went on the bus and there were orange LED lights! When we arrived at Páirc Uí Rinn the announcer was calling the Charlie McCarthy. After the players’ names. Then the match match we went back to class and began. People started shouting, we watched a movie. We also got chanting and singing our school snacks and ate our lunch. Finally, song. e have invested in a suite of Bee-Bots. Bee-Bots are exciting programmable floor robots, designed specifically for use by young children. These colourful, easy-to-operate, and friendly little robots are a perfect tool for teaching sequencing, estimation, problem-solving, robotics, programming and just having fun!

hird class have been working hard on their family history projects this month. Once again they have demonstrated their fantastic creativity, knowledge and hard work!! Well done boys!

n Muinteoir Mairead’s class we got to complete lots of fun art activities this term including learning about Polish Folk Art, colouring cool city scenes and creating our own Tutenkamun masks. We also made our own Maths trails using lots of the facts we learned this year to inform our questions. This is a great activity for our friends to discover our school using Maths eyes which is fun to do in the summer sun.

his term we went on our school tour to Cuskinny Activity Centre. We went to Cuskinny on the 20th of May. We were able to do so many fun activities. When we arrived, we were put into our group for the day. Then we started with our first activity. First, we went grass sledging. It was so cool.

We had to sit on a small sledge with wheels and we went racing down the hill. We even did a relay. Then we did the Squirrel obstacle course which was a balancing obstacle course. After lunch we did the Forest Maze Challenge Course.

We had to climb under nets and crawl through tunnels. We really enjoyed this activity. Our last activity was ziplining. Our favourite activity was the ziplining activity because it was really fast and fun. We had a great day on our School Tour.

he players walked onto the field. Two teams were about to go head to head against each other in a tense hurling match known as the Sciath na Scol Finals.

These two teams were known as Midleton CBS and St. Patrick's School. The two teams ran around and did some exercise to warm up before the big event and after that the announcements began. The teams lined up in two separate lines alongside each other.

First the students playing on the side of Midleton CBS were announced one by one. The children in the crowd cheered and shouted in glee as others sang the CBS anthem.

Then the students of CBS went silent and instead the children of St. Patrick's School began to cheer and clap as the students playing on the side of St. Patrick's School were announced. Eventually, the match began.

With just the last few minutes remaining CBS managed to score a vital goal to win the Sciath na Scol final. Midleton CBS were the champions.

Everyone was thrilled. We gave the team a guard of honour as they returned to school. The school celebrated by having no homework for the day and a school assembly to congratulate the team.

n Friday 20th of May, as soon as the school bell rang we headed straight to our double decker school tour bus to go to Cuskinny, an outdoor adventure centre. It was lashing rain and stormy as we headed off, and we were all a bit worried about being outdoors all day, but luckily it cleared up just after our bus arrived in Cuskinny and we had a lovely day.

I thought the genre of the book is excellent because I really love fantasy books. The book has a great cast of characters. Caspian is brave and loyal. Aslan is old and wise. Reepicheep is such a cute and strong mouse. The theme of the book is also amazing. It’s about big groups of people manipulating smaller groups of people but the smaller groups fight back. The only bad thing about the book is that it has not enough action like in the duel. I thought the fight would be longer. Most fighting scenes weren’t great. Over all the book was amazing.

I thought this book was funny! It was humorous when Tom pranked Delia by giving her an empty chocolate bar! It was hilarious when Tom went on the V.I.P stage in the concert to make Marcus jealous! I like the illustrator. The drawings on page 13 had cool patterns! I liked the characters. Tom Gates is funny. I laughed when Tom annoyed his sister. Overall, I thought this book was great! I highly recommend you reading it.

My favourite characters were Streaker and Trevor. They are funny and smart.

he day of the confirmation was the 24th of May. Mass was about an hour long. It started at 1.00pm. Our class had been preparing for this special event for a long time, practicing at home and at school. We also really appreciated the teachers help in preparing for this special day. fter the clearing of Covid restrictions our school had a chance to participate in the Cork City Sports again. Alex Wilson, Simon (me), Ciaran, Maxwell, Conor, Alex, Adrian, Plejy, Harry, Jordan, Jack, Andrew and Kingsley made it through the trials held in the school. We practiced at school with our teachers Mn. Rory and

sponsor, cousins, aunt, uncle and older friends came to support me on the day. Most of us were nervous but it felt nice receiving our confirmation. The choir was also excellent on the day as they helped us sing our songs, the pianist was also really good. It was amazing to see the teachers, SNA’s and the principal to show up and support us. After mass a lot of

us took pictures and later me and my supporters had lunch in a hotel. It was a great day!

For our 6th class school tour we went to Oysterhaven Adventure Park. The bus ride to Oysterhaven took us just under an hour. Once we got there the instructors split all of us into two groups. One group went onto the water first while the other group did the Mud-run.

While we were on the water we did kayaking. Some of our favourite parts were the moonwalk, which was a green cylinder attached to a platform floating in the water and we had to run across it as fast as possible and then jump into the water. Next was the paddle board which was paddled by your entire group and once we got to the middle we tied the paddle board to a buoy. Then

we played Last Man Standing.

For the kayaking we did single and three seated kayaking.

During the Mud-run we did a few different courses. Some of our favourites were the crocodile bridge, which was some platforms in the water which you had to get across safely. Next was the balance beam which was a wooden beam over really thick mud. A few people fell in and some even lost their shoes! Then we did the rafts. The rafts was a teamwork challenge where you had to pull people across a small body of water. You pulled them across by pulling on a rope attached to a raft. The last part

of the Mud-run was the zip line.

The zip line was a tyre and a rope which you sat on. Your team had to pull you across.

Overall it was very fun and challenging. It was probably one of the best school tours ever.

The boys in the Yellow Corridor have been winding down this term with a lot of amazing activities and with preparations for Communions and Graduations.

It’s fair to say that all the boys have put in a tremendous amount of work this year. They have all done so well this year and have taken part in so many school activities.

They have had the chance to practice their social skills with ease with our school shop and cinema.

They have made so many new friends from their mainstream classes and have brought their friends for visits to their classrooms where they had the

chance to play or watch a movie.

In May, we had a wonderful visit from the Animal Roadshow. They brought a snake, a guinea pig, a tortoise, an owl and a bearded dragon. The boys were fascinated by the animals and had so questions for animal holder, Abi. Some of the boys were brave enough to hold the snake on their shoulders!

As the boys have enjoyed the fine weather lately, we have been making more trips to the playground.

Recently, our canine companion Alfie joined us in a trip to the playground. He loved rolling in the grass and watching the boys have so

much fun.

A visit from Midleton Firefighters taught the boys about the importance of fire safety.

They even had turn with the fire hose and sat in the fire engine!

We have had such a great year this year with so many learning opportunities and chances to practice our new skills.

We have so much planned for next year and we are already excited about what September holds for us.

As part of our Autism Appreciation Month, the class teachers from the Yellow Corridor (Mn. John, Fiona & Jason) paid a visit to all of our wonderful mainstream classes to talk about ASD, the Yellow Corridor and Alfie. We were joined by a very special guest in Eoin McCarthy from 5th class.

Eoin spoke to all of our pupils about ASD and his own experiences over the past few years. A very proud day for Eoin! To mark the end of this month of celebrations, our school held a Multi-Coloured Day where all the staff and pupils came to school dressed in whatever colour they wished

Our latest life skills programme has involved transforming the yellow corridor classrooms into the Yellow Corridor Cinema. The boys begin their cinema journey at the ticket booth where they purchased their ticket, with two movies to choose from. They then have an opportunity to get some popcorn, drinks or snacks from the concession stand.

We were so delighted when one of our senior boys from the Yellow Corridor elected to join the teachers and added his own personal perspective to some of the class visits. To say we were INCREDIBLY proud of him would be the greatest understatement we could

purchasing their tickets and experience. The boys have snacks, the boys match their thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the cinema experience, from serving each other at the ticket booth or concession stand to finding their correct screen and enjoying the movie. Boys from first class also got to visit the Yellow Corridor Cinema and there was positive feedback all round.
