About Niagara College Established in 1967, Niagara College (NC) has grown to become a leading global college and one of Canada’s most enterprising postsecondary institutions. In Niagara and Around the World Currently, more than 10,000 students study in 100+ programs based at specialized campuses in the Niagara region. Leveraging its expertise in program development and delivery, NC has campuses, projects and partnerships around the world, while drawing students from more than 70 countries to its Niagara-based campuses each year. In addition to its two Niagara locations, NC has operations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Barcelona, Spain.
As one of Canada’s leading global colleges, NC was recognized by the World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics (WFCP) in 2024 with a silver Award in Applied Research and Innovation and, in 2022, with a bronze in Global Citizenship. NC was also recognized nationally by Colleges and Institutes Canada (CICan) in 2022 with a silver Award of Excellence in Global Engagement.
Schools of Study The Welland Campus, set on 100 acres (404,686 square meters) of green space, is home to NC’s schools of Technology, Trades, Nursing and Personal Support Work (PSW), Allied Health, Justice and Fitness, and more. It houses open-to-the-public teaching clinics, including dental, performance physiotherapy and occupational therapy, massage therapy, the NC Teaching Hair Salon, and a hub for advanced manufacturing research. The Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-onthe-Lake is home to NC’s schools of Business and Management, Environment and Horticulture, Hospitality and Tourism, Community Services,
Culinary Arts and Wine, Beer and Spirits. Unique learning enterprises on campus, include Canada’s first Teaching Winery, Teaching Brewery, Teaching Distillery and Teaching Greenhouse – which are ‘living labs’ for students and support student learning. The campus is a hub for research with innovation centres for horticultural and environmental sciences, food and beverage, and business and commercialization. Located on the base of the Niagara Escarpment, the campus includes 15 acres (60,703 square meters) of student-restored wetlands, an apiary and more.
Research and Innovation The Research and Innovation division of Niagara College provides real-world solutions for business, key industry sectors, and the community through applied research and knowledge transfer activities. The division conducts projects that provide innovative solutions, such as producing and testing prototypes, evaluating new technologies, and developing new or improved products or processes for small- and mediumsized businesses. With funding support from various regional, provincial, and federal agencies, students and graduates are hired to work alongside faculty researchers to assist industry partners leap forward in the marketplace. The Research and Innovation division has five Innovation Centres in the areas of advanced manufacturing, business and commercialization, food and beverage, healthy aging and wellness, and horticultural and environmental sciences. Work-Ready and World-Ready Graduates With a growing alumni community, which surpasses 125,000, NC graduates are succeeding and leading around the world. Thanks to NC’s academic excellence and its industry-driven, passionate faculty, global learners have access to some of the best applied learning in the world. According to the 2022-2023 provincial Key Performance Indicator (KPI) results, 89.4% of recent NC graduates were employed within six months of graduation. Also, 90% employers are satisfied with NC graduates they employ.
