Aubade: Oil City

Trees line streets as rural highway curves Into urban Front Street that proceeds Along Allegheny River. Oil City, cradled in confluence Of Oil Creek, is obscured By mist that rises off river. Twin spires of St. Joseph’s stand Full of pride; these pierce fabric of fog. Daylight descends western hill as sun Ascends from behind opposing hill, Catches crosses on spires, and crowns them With morning gold. A pair of bald eagles dances An intricate pattern of freedom In sky while you bridge river, Follow creek, and chase sun to your Destination and not a bridge too far.
