A Night Of Nature
Thankful Times
My Life as a Turkey
Peterborough. Plymouth. Hanover. Manchester. Mt. Monadnock. Concord. We’ve been on the road a lot, for meetings, Windows to the Wild hikes, screenings, and to accept awards! Here’s a rundown of our most recent travels. We’ve been in Peterborough working on our first Our Hometown episode. This exciting new series focuses on residents of Granite State towns and cities who tell their community’s stories (see page 3.) We’ll be in Plymouth this month for Granite State Challenge’s “Super Sunday” competition. We’ve signed up 55 NH high school academic teams to vie for 16 spots; the season premieres in February. I’m also very proud to note that NHPTV received the NH BIA “NH Advantage Award” last month. It honors businesses that enhance New Hampshire’s special character. And, we picked up five awards for Windows to the Wild at the NH Association of Broadcasters annual dinner. Have you heard the journalism phrase “They buried the lead”? Well, here’s an example of that. In December, we’ll be offering five free screenings of Masterpiece Downton Abbey 5 around the state. We hope to see you at one of them! Thanks for your support, which keeps us on the road, telling NH’s many stories. Peter Frid, NHPTV President & CEO
After a local farmer left a bowl of turkey eggs on Joe Hutto’s front porch, his life was forever changed. Deep in the wilds of Florida’s Flatlands, the writer and naturalist spent two years living as a turkey mother, taking on the full-time job of raising 16 turkey chicks.
An Original DUCKumentary
There are some 120 species of duck. Some are noisy and gregarious, others shy and elusive. They are familiar animals, but most of us don’t really know these phenomenal, sophisticated creatures at all. This program follows a wood duck family as a male and female create a bond, migrate together across thousands of miles, nurture and protect a brood of chicks, then come full circle as they head to their wintering grounds.
The Private Life of Deer Whitetailed deer seem to be always around us (pictured on cover). Humans have created pretty much the perfect habitat for deer. Enter their hidden world from the perspective of night-vision cameras. They are not just common backyard creatures, but are intelligent, affectionate family members.
