Beyond the Divide
During the Vietnam era, the political and emotional divides between active duty soldiers and the burgeoning desire for peace at home in the United States, left families and communities fractured. While the politics and casualties are now a part of history, deep scars remain between those who served and those who fought a different war at home. BEYOND THE DIVIDE hopes to illuminate a path towards healing old wounds by portraying authentic peace-building strategies.

September 2017 Paying Tribute This September, PBS and New Hampshire Public Television will pay tribute to those who were affected by the Vietnam War. Taking center stage is Ken Burns' and Lynn Novick’s newest documentary series, THE VIETNAM WAR. This epic story of one of the most consequential, divisive and controversial events in American history is visceral and immersive. The series explores the human dimensions of the war through testimonies from all sides. Prior to the premiere on Sept. 17th, NHPTV, in partnership with the NH Humanities Council and community partners across the state, will host a series of screenings and facilitated discussions. We're delighted to be producing this series of community conversations with many of the state's vibrant cultural art and historical venues. I hope that you and your neighbors will come out to one of these special screenings and engage in this important discussion. To find a screening near you go to nhptv.org/vietnam. Windows to the Wild
This September, WINDOWS TO THE WILD salutes our veterans with two encore shows. On Flags of the 48: every 9/11, groups of hikers climb NH's 4,000-foot mountains to place a flag on each of the 48 summits as a tribute to those who lost their lives. Then stay tuned for Walking Off the War, as Willem Lange hikes along the Appalachian Trail at Smarts Mountain near Lyme and meets up with Warrior Hikers as they trek NH's section of the AT. The veterans talk about why they're hiking as a way of transitioning from military to civilian life. Wednesday, September 6 & 20 • 7:30 PM on NHPTV PRIME
