Mt. Washington Cog Railway: Climbing to the Clouds Explore the history of the iconic Mt. Washington Cog Railway, from its founding visionary Sylvester Marsh, to its current operations, and all the dramatic moments that tested the existence of this engineering marvel. From its conception in 1852, the plan was for the railroad to be used for tourism to allow people to see the awe-inspiring beauty of the highest peak in the Northeast and to reach its summit.
