TURBO CHARGERS VS SUPER CHARGERS BY JOHN GIGAX, ACV UNIVERSITY TRAINER
A question that commonly comes up in training classes is what is the difference between Turbo and Superchargers and how are they identified? It is a great question and one that is important all VCI’s know the answer to as we get closer to the launch of the new Inspection app. The answer to that question is pretty simple. It’s purely design.
Turbochargers, as opposed to being belt driven,
The function of both is to create additional

RPM due to the fact that they are belt driven. However, the disadvantages are size and that they actually diminish some of the engines horsepower because they are belt driven.
A MAJOR INDICATOR THAT A VEHICLE IS SUPER OR TURBO CHARGED IS BY THE PRESENCE OF AN INTERCOOLER.
The advantages to turbos are their size, increased engine efficiency, better fuel consumption, and ease of installation. The disadvantage to a turbo is that it takes time to build up compression. This is commonly called “Turbo Lag.” Turbos are also designed for a specific RPM range making their performance less consistent and they will consume more oil.

BE AWARE OF PHISHING Phishing is a type of cybercrime where hackers try to gain access to sensitive information, such as usernames and passwords by pretending to be a person or organization they trust. Hackers are getting better at tricking people into clicking on fraudulent links or opening up malicious attachments in emails. In an effort to practice our skills and remain vigilant, our team will run random phishing tests. It is critical that we do

ENDPOINT MANAGEMENT When it comes to cyber security, endpoint management is essential. Endpoint management (EPM) is how we manage, protect, update and deploy to our endpoint devices such as iPhones or laptops. Open endpoints can become an easy target for cybercrime. If one hacker infiltrates a single remote laptop, they can obtain access to ACV’s network, files, sensitive data and potentially impact our business operations. In March, CNA Financial Corp. suffered a cyberattack to its endpoints when they were hit by a ransomware attack. They were forced to shut down their operations and pay $40 million to regain control of their network. In order to protect ourselves from this threat, there are endpoint management tools to help us monitor, manage and secure our endpoint devices. One of the endpoint management tools we are using at ACV is Workspace ONE. This software is currently being rolled out to Windows Laptops or Zebra/Panasonic tablets. If you are using a Windows Laptop or Zebra/Panasonic tablet, you are required to have Workspace ONE installed. Please follow these steps for more information. If you have any questions, please contact the Helpdesk at 716-222-8808 or at helpdesk@acvauctions.com.
