. Te Ara Toiroa refers to pathways to whānau prosperity, this whakaaro is derived from Te Hā Oranganui, a karakia composed by Huirangi Waikerepuru. The purpose of Te Ara Toiroa, Ngāruahine procurement strategy is to build a Ngāruahine economy with Ngāruahine at the helm. The greatest success story we hear about is the $68 billion dollar Māori Economy. It is the fastest growing economy in the country. However, what we don't hear is that only 10% of that economy has Māori employed and running those ventures.

This new strategy is a paradigm shift, It is an assertion of our Ngāruahinetanga within our core business processes. We have done this in order to maintain our rangatiratanga to move forward in kotahitanga. By privileging uri over all others this strategy will create a pipeline of our people into a cascade of Ngāruahine business opportunities. The overarching vision of our iwi is ' ka ora taku toa' and it is to ensure we are working hard to build the strengths of all of our uri. We aim to enable a pathway for our uri to access the best opportunities, help and assistance. This will ensure growth and sustainability of our health, wellbeing and population. This strategy is 'for uri by uri' in design and in whakaaro.
