MOKOPAPA KI WAIOKURA MARAE

Waiokura Marae came alive with uri returning to the long awaited Mokopapa which was held 17 – 18 Kohitātea (January). Six uri received their taonga, surrounded by their whānau, whanaunga, kuia, koroua, hoa, whānau, Hapū and iwi. It had been a long wait for each recipient with previous cancellations due to tangihanga and Covid 19.

Kaitā Rangi Skipper and Sian Montgomery-Neutze along with their kaiawhi and understudies, bought these taonga to life. The two days were full of waiata, kōrero, karakia, laughter, tears and sharing. It was a very special time for our tamariki and rangatahi who were present, to witness this taking place on their marae for the very first time. We acknowledge those who received their moko and their whānau for bringing this taonga back to the marae and letting us share the experience with them.

I tū te pōwhiri ki te motu ki Parihaka. Ki reira i whakatau te mauri o te kaupapa, ā i timata te whanaungatanga ki waenganui i ngā kura.

I miharo pai ngā whakaritenga ki te katoa, kua rongo whānui i te harikoa o ia tangata i tae atu.
