Te Pouwhakarae Presentation
The Pouwhakarae presented the key strategic issues Te Korowai o Ngāruahine Trust (Te Korowai) are focusing on for the coming year. This included an internal governance review, constitutional review, Takutai Moana applications, maunga negotiations and deferred settlement properties. Regarding marae development, the Pouwhakarae explained the board’s decision to put marae payments on hold, and the need to develop a plan that was supportive of all marae. The Pouwhakarae acknowledged that some marae were supported financially and the decision now put at risk some of the relationships marae committees had developed with contractors and suppliers. The meeting expressed their collective concern about how this had been managed and asked the board makes this a priority. Pouhautū Presentation
The Pouhautū talked about the operational side of Te Korowai, the iwi engagement and policy and research teams recently created. The Pouhautu confirmed that the treasurer role of Te Korowai was managed by Te Kiwai Maui.

Te Kiwai Maui o Ngāruahine Presentation
The chair (Hinerangi Raumati) discussed the current position of Te Kiwai Maui o Ngāruahine (Maui) and talked about the appointment of Taari Nicholas, Te Aroha Hohaia and Dion Maaka as the Associate Director. Maui now has a full complement. The next priorities for Maui include developing an investment and delegation policy and a long-term financing model. The chair advised that due to the recent storm, a few rooms at Dawson Falls Lodge were closed, and repairs to the roof were pending. They are currently recruiting for a manager, and with winter the café will open with reduced hours.

Guest presenter - Te Wehi Wright
Te Wehi Wright (Okahu-Inuawai, Ngati Haua) shared his experience in travelling to the United Nations in New York. He was one of 12 rangatahi selected from 300.

Kaupapa Workshops
Four workshops were offered and participants selected the workshops that appealed to their interests: Workshop Maunga negotiations
Board facilitators and workshop Daisy Noble, John Hooker Ngāruahine korero is unique, and discussions focused on the connection with the maunga. This has been captured through waiata and karakia. A further in-depth scan was needed for whanau and hapū korero to be collected and shared
Review of the Trust Deed
Te Aroha Hohaia, Ngawai Henare, Will Edwards This workshop attracted a lot of interest. Participants talked about the issues of representation, the process, nominating candidates and registration
Deferred settlement properties
Cheryl Luke-Maraki, Caroline Scott, David Maha The first group suggested Te Korowai adopts a principle-based approach and purchases all of the properties. Hapū then decide what would happen to these properties. The second group supported a stock take to assess the risks and benefits of purchasing the properties. Continue to engage with hapū to understand their aspirations. Te Korowai to complete the due diligence to make an informed decision on purchasing the properties with their eventual return to hapū.
Rangatahi
Everyone agreed that there was still a lot of work to be done about these properties Omahuru Robinson, Wendy Eynon The rangatahi supported regular wānanga about Ngāruahine kōrero, succession planning and supporting kaupapa like: healthy living, smokefree whānau. They also wanted more rangatahi engaged in higher education with support through iwi scholarships and internships.

Final Remarks
The Pouhautu thanked the whānau for attending and on behalf of Te Korowai committed that the Annual Report would be available one month before the AGM. Based on participation the half-yearly update hui would now be a regular feature and using workshops to discuss important kaupapa was successful.
