INSIDERS - HOW AI IS IMPACTING THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY?
THE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ERA
WINSTON MA, Executive Director at the Global Public Investment Funds Forum and Adjunct Professor at the New York University School
Did we already enter an AI / Data Economy after the digital economy one? Yes. The last decade digital economy was centered around the spread of the mobile internet, and the mobile economy drove a boom in e-commerce and mobile entertainment. Now in the age of AI, the new key words have been “data” and “intelligence”. Businesses are looking beyond the mobile internet; instead, they are rushing to learn how new “data technologies” like AI, also including the internet of things, blockchain, cloud computing and data analytics (dubbed “iABCD”), can be integrated into their businesses to unlock value from non-traditional angles.
Why should companies focus on data to fully benefit from AI? Your AI is only as good as your data. Although generative AI models often dominate the headlines and discussions, they merely represent the visible fraction of a much larger “data iceberg”. Data differentiates algorithms and models, and proprietary data provides a sustainable AI moat – this is ever true because the general LLM models developed by major tech companies are quickly commoditised (because they don’t have proprietary data from specific industry sectors). As any business leader, it’s critical to recognise that data – its quality, diversity, governance, and operational pipelines – will

make or break your generative AI initiatives. Investing in robust data practices is the key to riding the generative AI wave. What are your recommendations to optimise data mining to feed AI? Companies need to change their mindset to treat data as their strategic asset. Instead of thinking about data storage and management as a cost, they should invest in robust customer data foundations and data curation for business-specific models. To truly harness the power of data as a competitive differentiator, companies should consciously develop high quality datasets to optimise data mining to feed AI. At the same time, companies must ensure they enact best practices when storing
I N S I D E E D I T I O N 39 • M A Y 2 0 2 5
data, whether for AI or in general. To protect their AI’s value, companies must tread cautiously with it and regularly check that no breaches or threats have occurred. As technology continues to grow and evolve, so does the threat of cyberattacks. Do you think that Deepseek will dethrone OpenAI? The emergence of DeepSeek (and similar European open-source players like Mistral) fundamentally changed the AI narrative by Open AI and Big Techs in two critical ways. For one, open weight models are commoditising the foundation-model layer, which creates opportunities for application builders. For two, despite the massive hype around computer chip processing power, algorithmic innovations are rapidly pushing
INSIDERS - HOW AI IS IMPACTING THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY?
down AI training costs. These two powerful trends give global firms a chance to catch up in global AI race: there is a growing sentiment that we can achieve more with less—that cutting-edge AI applications no longer require vast resources. What’s the important takeaway from the Paris AI summit – for Europe’s AI Development? The US-China AI rivalry brings a very, very high sense of urgency to Europe, as the global race in artificial intelligence is kicking into a higher gear. It represents a mental shift for Europe in particular: instead of focusing on AI safety, European political and business leaders this time made clear that a primary goal is to harness the technology’s economic benefits.
The new prevailing attitude is “We need to make champions”, and both private investors and public governments are opening the money spigot. Private investors, led by the venture capital firm General Catalyst, announced the A.I. Champions Initiative for the European Union, which calls for investing €150 billion over the next five years. President Emmanuel Macron of France pledged €110 billion to bolster his country’s A.I. industry, while the broader European Union committed €200 billion for an initiative that includes funding for so-called gigafactories to help train A.I. models. It will be interesting to see if the AI push would revive the recent EU SWF Fund initiative.

A CHANCE TO DO BETTER: HOW AI ENABLES A STRONGER PARTNERSHIP IN THE AFTERMARKET As the capabilities of AI grow exponentially, some tend to see the new technology as a threat. A threat to jobs, to businesses, and to creativity. But at Dinex, AI is already taking service and quality to new heights: And that’s a big win for the market, and for the customers. Let’s start with a bold claim: Nobody’s going to lose their job to AI. But some might lose their job to those who are better at using AI. The Automotive Aftermarket is reaching new heights with AI-driven Predictive Maintenance, Virtual Assistants, and
Advanced Inventory Management, fostering greater proactiveness and competitiveness for those who embrace it. At Dinex, the journey has already begun. As AI integrates into more processes, teams become more efficient, productive, and innovative. In short, AI empowers us

to do more, better, and faster. To demonstrate, we’ve asked 2 key employees who’s leading the way in their teams by pioneering AI-solutions in their daily jobs.
BECOMING BETTER AND FASTER WITH AI
“Like a Personal Assistant in your pocket” Dinex serves thousands of customers daily, and the teams are passionately striving to do their utmost every day to find the best solutions in each and every interaction. Last year, a new global Customer Relations Management system (CRM) was implemented, and powered by a personal AI Assistant. It’s not like the sales team has stopped writing their own e-mails. And they still show up when you call them, keep track of agreements and are accountable for their actions and handshakes. But the AI Assistant enables them to respond faster, more qualified and precisely, and still offer a personalized service to their customers. “Better products, better quality - only faster” Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) is not a new thing, especially when working with leading OEMs. Advanced simulation tools

shorten product development by several months, as engineers can predict premature failures, design weaknesses and catalytic properties, even before the first prototype is made. And with AI, the potential is even greater.
“Better products, better quality - only faster” Jim Elkær Bebe, Development Manager
Today, Dinex engineers are building even stronger simulation models, and significantly faster than about a year ago. By generating draft parameters and code using AI tools, the chance of human error is minimized, and simulations can be prepared, executed and analyzed in record time.
Can you imagine a partner who foresees market trends and spare part needs, even before the vehicle breaks down? Or a training library generated on-the-fly, but still tailored to the detail-level and language you need?
We’re only just getting started Considering the past year’s trends, it is clear that the market is far from seeing the full scale of possibilities powered by AI.
It’s no longer imagination, and only examples of some of the next steps that Dinex is preparing to take, in the ambition to be your preferred partner in exhaust & emission.

INSIGHTS FROM THE AFTERMARKET WORLD AND BEYOND
ZF PROAI: THE SOURCE OF VEHICLE INTELLIGENCE The intelligence of future vehicles will be controlled by a few extremely powerful central computers like the ZF ProAI. Modern vehicles feature increasingly more software functions. When software combines the intelligence of sensor information with the control of smart actuators, new powerful functions like additional advanced driver assistance systems emerge, which provide more comfort, more safety, or even more range when driving electrically. This is only possible with smart software algorithms. In traditional vehicle architectures, the bits and bytes act mainly in decentralized electronic control units (ECUs). In new and future vehicle platforms, the electric and electronic architecture (E/E architecture) will change dramatically. The computing power and the main software functions will be bundled in a few domain or zone controllers. The ZF ProAI supercomputer perfectly meets the requirements of the manufacturers for the software-defined vehicles and their new E/E-architectures. It can serve as domain, zone or central controller. The high-performance computer is suitable for
any vehicle type and for all levels of automated and autonomous driving: from Level 2 to Level 5. New Multi-Domain Capable Edition of ZF ProAI ZF presented a new multi-domain-capable edition of the high-performance computer. With several individual performance boards that can be connected to a common board, the central computer will also be multi-domain capable in the future. This means the ProAI can combine and process various domain functions - such as ADAS, chassis, infotainment, etc. - in a single control unit. Each of the individual boards can be equipped with microprocessors from different providers as well as different operating systems at the same time - such as QNX for ADAS or Android Auto for infotainment functions. All boards are networked with each other via interfaces from the central board. The respectively used software per board can thus also be converted into a multi-domain structure and, thanks to the
66
SIDE
modular and flexible design, the ZF ProAI can thus be individually tailored to the requirements of each customer. Standardization meets Scalability Customized high-performance solutions for vehicle intelligence, suitable to any vehicle platform, but based on a single product – that’s the ZF ProAI. “When developing the ZF ProAI, we paid particular attention to two things: standardization and scalability. Because this simplifies the choice immensely when selecting ZF ProAI as the central computer for a vehicle: No matter what the application needs are – ZF has the ideal solution,” said Oliver Briemle, Head of AD Components and Connectivity at ZF. I N S I D E E D I T I O N 39 • M A Y 2 0 2 5
Standardization and flexibility are also key for the microprocessors and the connectors: The modular set-up of the supercomputer means it can be equipped with System-on-Chip (SoC) variants from all renowned manufacturers – depending on the planned application and the computing power required. And of course the connectors are compatible with all common plugs on the market. ZF also relies on the highest level of flexibility when it comes to software. In addition to ZF’s own solutions like Middleware or functions, the supercomputer can also be equipped with software from OEMs or thirdparty providers. Depending on the desired performance, three cooling options are
INSIGHTS FROM THE AFTERMARKET WORLD AND BEYOND
available: passive cooling, air cooling and liquid cooling. The installation dimensions remain the same: In its standard version, the ZF ProAI has a compact housing size of only 24 x 14 x 5 centimeters (the size of the multi-domain variant is 30 x 15 x 5 centimeters) and thus requires only little installation space in the vehicle. More Performance, less Power Consumption The ZF ProAI also comes with more performance than ever before. Depending on the desired application from Level 2 to Level 5 and the corresponding computing power required, ZF ProAI can execute between 20 trillion and 1.5 quadrillion computing steps per second, an increase of 50 percent compared to the previous high-end version. And while performance increases, power consumption drops even more: With 1 watt of power, the ProAI achieves a performance of approximately 5 TOPS. And, as an automotive grade product, the high-tech product works reliably even under harsh conditions such as extreme temperatures
or dust. It also offers an ASIL-D computing performance with state-of-the-art protection against cyber threats. Enabling new vehicle functions and tapping their full potential: The AI-capabilities of ZF ProAI are optimized for deep learning processes, further enhancing its ability to deliver advanced safety features. The board offers a 360° GPU-driven fusion of all available sensor data, including environmental measurement data from radars, LiDARs, cameras and audio patterns. In addition, ZF also provides a measurement data interface (MDI) for ProAI in order to forward the collected sensor data unaltered to a central storage system for development and testing purposes. This makes it much easier for developers to train artificial intelligence for autonomous driving. The ZF ProAI portfolio of high-performance computers is fully industrialized and ready for the market.

New product groups including ADAS components
Major portfolio expansion initiative by Continental for the Automotive Aftermarket Completely new product groups include sensors for automotive driver assistance systems (ADAS), as well as high-pressure fuel pumps. Furthermore, the “ATE New Original” line will increase workshops’ braking expertise for electric vehicles and future Euro 7 requirements. The vehicle fleet on our roads is changing rapidly. More and more vehicles with more complex driver assistance systems as well as e- and hybrid vehicles are reaching independent workshops, where customers rightly expect high-quality repairs. In the future, only those who are prepared and have the right spare parts and qualifications will be able to earn good money. Continental is responding to the increasing technical demands by expanding its portfolio in original equipment quality and service offers for workshops. The technology company is adding new product groups, as well as camera and radar sensors and high-pressure fuel pumps.
Product range expands significantly in breadth and depth In order to analyze market demands, Continental experts asked workshops in a broad-based survey which spare parts they would like to purchase from Continental in the future. One result is a significant expansion of ADAS parts and components. The new product groups include cameras and radar sensors for driver assistance systems, which are increasingly being installed in smaller and mid-range vehicles. In this way, Continental is readying its resources for the growing market and will gradually add new components to its spare parts program, starting in the second half of 2025. Among the first products to be introduced are multifunctional camera modules, Long-Range, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Blind Spot Radars for large-volume production models from Mercedes, BMW, Nissan, Volkswagen and Audi. Backed by more than 20 years of experience, Continental is one of the leading companies in the field of original equipment, having supplied over 200 million sensors and control units. ATE New Original – for the brakes of the next generation At the same time, Continental is increasing its market coverage in the existing product groups. The company is breaking new ground with the new product line ATE New Original that
will include products such as braking discs and pads. They fully meet the higher requirements and standards that the transition towards electromobility and stricter environmental regulations entail. This will provide dealers and workshops with a product range perfectly tailored to the growing number of electric vehicles. The novel coating concepts for brake discs and innovative friction mixtures are at the center of developments to comply with the particulate matter limits according to the Euro 7 standard. Among other things, this regulation provides for the limitation of particulate emissions from braking systems. ATE will launch friction brake pairings consisting of braking discs and pads for VW’s ID.3 and ID.4 models, the TESLA Model S, the Cupra Born, and the Polestar 2 in the second half of 2025. ATE New Original complements the ATE Original line in which Continental so far has offered its entire European portfolio of brake components. Up to 700 new part numbers in engine management Furthermore, Continental is significantly expanding its portfolio in engine management and fuel supply, particularly with fuel pump units as well as exhaust control valves, mass air flow sensors, and sensors for engine management. The expansion will include up to 700 part numbers by 2025,
increasing coverage by an average of 50 percent. Highpressure fuel pumps were introduced to the market at the end of 2024, and the coverage will be expanded accordingly.
ATE New Original friction brake pairings are at the center of developments to comply with the particulate matter limits according to the Euro 7 standard.

DENSO’s artificial intelligence based robotics With the increasingly difficult circumstances surrounding agricultural production, many are looking to robots to provide some of the solutions. DENSO is among them as it is working with Asai Nursery to develop a robot that can pick tomatoes Establishing a development laboratory in an underused area in one of its facilities, DENSO brought together a small team, some of whom were previously designing CPU boards for car navigation systems, to pursue joint research with a university and develop a tomato harvesting robot. After speaking with farmers from all around Japan and even trying some agricultural work itself, the team was able to better understand which parts of harvesting were the hardest. This led the team to hand make simulated tomatoes, which they hung up, to be able to conduct tests to see if the robots were able to pick them, a process that was repeated and the software refined each time. The project laboratory in an underused space inside a DENSO facility
Once the team had a clearer picture of how things should work, further tests were carried out onsite at the Asai Nursery agricultural facility, which had staff with the techniques and skills required to keep tomato plants at specified heights and orientations to arrange the growing environment to help the robot operate effectively. This led to the formation of the joint venture AgriD Inc. and to test the robot using four hectares of greenhouse space. Much was learned during these tests, for example, harvesting cherry tomatoes, required a “high wire” approach, which involved installing wires along the top of the greenhouse and attaching guide strings connecting these and the plants below, to make sure the main stems stand up straight. Clips were also used to adjust the orientation of each stem and these were new technologies introduced for this project. The robot uses a DENSO WAVE robot arm (VS-060) and an industrial use computer (IoT Data Server), but naturally, software and artificial intelligence (AI), were central to the process.
The robot is designed to detect obstacles, as well as the bunches of cherry tomatoes, but also to determine ripeness and find peduncles (the narrow stalks to which the fruit is attached). These functions utilise image recognition based on numerous unique AI models. To detect obstacles and assess crop ripeness, convolutional neural networks (CNNs) served as the foundation for image recognition AI models. Meanwhile, object detection AI models were employed to identify bunches and pinpoint individual fruit positions. Applying AI models alone did not achieve the desired precision at the nursery. Hyperparameters, critical to deep learning model performance, required iterative tuning. Key achievements include boosting obstacle detection precision from 65% to 98%, reducing tomato bunch detection time from three seconds to one, cutting ripeness error margins from class 2 to class 1, and raising peduncle detection accuracy from 50% to 92%. Consequently, successful harvest rates surpassed 90%, with the robot harvesting one bunch in about 20 seconds under ideal conditions. AI-driven tomato positioning guides the robot arm, which avoids obstacles like stems during harvesting. Though designed for cherry tomatoes, the demand for robots that handle medium, large tomatoes, and other crops is growing. AgriD Inc is collaborating with the Certhon Group to enhance the system for more complex tasks. Promising results in cabbage image recognition suggest scalable potential for broader agricultural use. Child Presence Detection for heatstroke prevention FORVIA HELLA introduces Child Presence Detection, a groundbreaking NCAP-relevant safety feature designed to prevent tragic incidents of children succumbing to heatstroke in parked vehicles. Leveraging the ultra-wideband (UWB) capabilities of its smart car access system developed for the OE sector, this technology is set to redefine child safety standards in the automotive industry.
How does Child Presence Detection work? Modern vehicles, built with heat-retaining materials like metal and synthetic components, can turn into hazardous environments within minutes during warm weather. The Child Presence Detection system identifies unattended children in vehicles using UWB anchors already integrated into the cabin as part of the smart car access system. By analysing vital signs such as breathing rates and movement patterns, the system reliably detects minors and promptly alerts parents or guardians via their mobile devices. This innovative solution requires no additional hardware, as it can be activated through a simple software update. This not only minimizes costs but also supports sustainability by reducing material, logistics, and integration efforts, ultimately cutting CO2 emissions.
With the Child Presence Detection function, the system recognises whether children or infants have been left alone in the vehicle and issues an alarm after a few seconds if this is the case.
Boosting NCAP ratings with advanced child safety The European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP) evaluates the safety of passenger cars across key categories, including child safety. Starting in 2025, a child protection system will be mandatory for all new vehicles in Europe and the United States to achieve the highest NCAP ratings.
Beyond safety: the versatility of the smart car access system The smart car access system is more than a child safety feature; it offers a seamless user experience. UWB technology enables hands-free vehicle access and ignition start without the need to interact with a smartphone, delivering unmatched convenience.
FORVIA HELLA’s Child Presence Detection, the world’s first UWB-based solution, positions manufacturers ahead of this regulatory curve. By integrating this feature, OEMs can enhance both safety credentials and consumer appeal, solidifying their commitment to occupant protection.
Security is equally paramount. UWB’s high-precision time-of-flight measurements provide robust protection against relay attacks, where vehicles are unlocked through signal extension. The innovative Child Presence Detection solution is an example of how cutting-edge technology can protect the most vulnerable passengers and contribute to a safer, smarter and more sustainable automotive future.

Sparkling finish LIQUI MOLY’s revised product line for car care focuses on the benefits for end consumers and is now also available globally.
www.liqui-moly.com
If the car is not only clean, but shiny too, a care product from LIQUI MOLY was almost certainly used. The German specialist for automotive chemicals has undergone a complete overhaul of its car care series, benefiting customers all over the world. The new products are now available worldwide, apart from just a few countries. With the relaunch, LIQUI MOLY is demonstrating its expertise and innovative strength in the field of car care. Managing Director Günter Hiermaier emphasizes: “With our newly launched car care series, we are targeting the DIY sector in particular. For many people, the appearance and condition of their car are very important. They cherish and care for their holy metal and we provide them with the right products to do just that.” The focus of the series, which is divided into the areas of windows, paintwork, tires and interior, is on the benefit for the customer. Around half of the car care products are new to the range or have had their formulas revised. “This ensures that our products are of very high quality and that we offer a suitable item for every application, just as LIQUI MOLY customers expect,” explains Günter Hiermaier. The polishes, for example, have been further developed, particularly with regard to ease of use. The new formulations are easier to apply and buff up. New polishing sponges and cloths complement the range to suit this area of application. The look is striking: The products are presented in new packaging, a transparent blue replaces the previous gray. By using one of its corporate colors, LIQUI MOLY is focusing on a high brand recognition value.
The new labels were also about a fresh look, but above all about ease of use. On the front side, the labels show the respective area of application in addition to the large and therefore easy-to-read product designation. There is a white information strip on the side with before and after images, product features and a practical QR code. The QR code leads consumers to the company website, where more information about the product and its benefits can be found – in the respective national language. The website contains application images and videos as well as safety data sheets, for example. On the back of the label there is a detailed application text so that every user can achieve an optimal result with the respective product. All texts have been optimized as part of the new release. “With the relaunch, we have set ourselves the goal of convincing consumers of the merits of our care products. This applies to the application, handling and result as well as the attractive appearance,” says Günter Hiermaier. “We are delighted that we can now also offer our car care series worldwide.” LIQUI MOLY has launched the series in three language lines, covering 19 languages.

MANN+HUMMEL as a pioneer: filtration meets machine learning MANN+HUMMEL sees the future of the aftermarket shaped by the potential of AI to handle complex data, enabling predictive insights and enhancing operational efficiency. Customer focus is at the core of the global filtration expert‘s transformation. Three main aspects drive this focus: convenience through a broad portfolio and customer-oriented solutions, reliability through strong operational standards, and competitiveness supported by digitalisation and artificial intelligence. With smartFE, MANN+HUMMEL has created an application for the AI-based development of filter elements. It combines the quantity of big data with the quality of smart data. We are convinced that AI will become a key technology for innovative filtration solutions. However, we also know that it is the people who make filter manufacturer MANN+HUMMEL a global leader in innovation – not the machines. Our engineers, sales and marketing experts at 80 locations worldwide are and remain our greatest asset. smartFE is designed to combine the knowledge and experience of our employees and support them. More power for our customers and partners smartFE gives us and our customers another valuable competitive advantage. That’s because with smartFE, we are even better than before. Intelligent algorithms transform numbers into measurable and usable insights, delivering high-quality data within seconds – based on input from our experts, analyzed by our experts. This enables us to continuously optimize our processes and develop pioneering filters with even higher performance and efficiency. Thanks to AI we can support our teams by using big data quickly, concisely and in an understandable way. All relevant information is now collected in

advance, structured via data pipelines and then processed by smartFE. In this way, test results, field test data and simulation data complement each other to enable optimal machine learning. The result: the machines take over the automation work while our engineers can use the time profitably. With smartFE, we are closer to our customers than ever before. For a new customer, we were asked to develop a completely new filter application: only rough dimensions and performance requirements were known. The development process was highly dynamic and iterative. Close collaboration and regular consultations with the customer were essential. smartFE supports the development engineer in finding a design for the customer order. The engineer enters the dimensions of the design space in smartFE. The AI then provides him with an initial set of thousands of potential filter element designs: generated from the complete MANN+HUMMEL filter media portfolio and perfectly adapted to the available customer specifications. The engineer can now quickly sort through the potential designs,
translate them into solutions based on his expertise, and make an initial design decision. In the background, smartFE automatically prepares all relevant data and visualizes performance indicators such as filtration efficiency and lifetime estimates in a precise and clear manner. Export functions provide curated data for the rest of the value chain, for example for design experts or for communicating with the customer. If design changes are required, smartFE enables the engineer to quickly revise the design area and offer the customer a reliable alternative. This knowledge of pioneering filter quality, efficiency and performance also flows into the aftermarket prod-ucts of the global filtration expert, which offers a comprehensive product range in OE quality under its premium brand MANN-FILTER. The portfolio includes air, oil and fuel filters for combustion engines and industrial applications, as well as filtration solu-

One supplier. A total range. Discover all Sensors & Electronics and Air & Emmissions Management parts For almost a century, NRF is the expert in engine cooling and air conditioning. Over the past 10 years, NRF introduced additional products in the “Beyond Cooling” category. Meanwhile, these products have become part of their core business. To provide a clear overview, they are now updating their structure. Therefore, NRF is introducing two new product categories to group existing references: Sensors and Electronics and Air and Emissions Management. SENSORS AND ELECTRONICS The first new product category is Sensors and Electronics. In this category, all existing sensor types and electrically driven components are grouped. These products play a critical role in modern vehicle performance, safety, efficiency and connectivity. As vehicles become more advanced and software-driven, these parts become more important than ever.

To become an expert in sensors, NRF needed to go beyond their existing set-up. That’s why they built their own in-house sensor laboratory in Spain. The laboratory includes an ISO-certified clean room where NRF can validate, test and develop its sensors. In fact, NRF is able to test electrical parameters of all their parts, such as Throttle Bodies, EGR valves, Electric Water Pumps and more. AIR AND EMISSIONS MANAGEMENT The new product category Air and Emissions Management focuses on technologies and components that manage air intake, fuel combustion and exhaust emissions to meet both performance goals and environmental regulations. This entire product category consists of more than 1.000 references. Besides parts for passenger cars, NRF supplies a complete EGR cooling portfolio for trucks. The new product category includes: EGR Cooling Turbo Hoses Throttle Bodies SCR System EXPLORE THE FULL RANGE Browse the complete NRF offer at webshop.nrf.eu or on TecDoc.

GOOD VIBRATIONS: SUSPENSION COMPONENTS ADDED TO THE RANGE Workshops can now also source wishbone bushings and ball joints with Continental quality. We have good news to report. Our surveys have shown that workshop mechanics also want to enjoy Continental’s high and dependable levels of quality for suspension and steering parts, just as they already do for other components. So we have now added wishbone bushings and ball joints to our product range. All the parts offer excellent fit and durability, allowing repair jobs to be carried out safely and to a reliably high standard. SMALL PARTS, BIG IMPACT Wishbone bushings and ball joints soak up vibrations, making driving safe and comfortable. The key here is an optimal bond of rubber and metal – and that has been Continental’s core expertise for decades now. Examples of the company’s products in this area include air spring systems and anti-vibration elements for rail vehicles, and mounts for machines weighing several metric tons. And now we have carried this expertise over into the automotive aftermarket. As far as suspension components are concerned, 310 products types in the wishbone bushing and ball joint product groups are always in stock. This allows fitters to cover around 70% of applications in the current European vehicle parc – in cars ranging from treasured recent classics to the Tesla Model S and other modern BEVs. Needless to say, we are constantly adding to the range of items available. THE ADVANTAGES OF ZERO-COMPROMISE QUALITY The suspension components from Continental deliver crucial benefits for both drivers and fitters: › Ease to fit: all metal parts and threads are an excellent fit. › Longer lifespans: the metal parts are hardened with a corrosion-resistant coating. › Robust: the high-quality rubber compounds are particularly ozone resistant and can withstand the toughest conditions. › Reliable performance thanks to high-quality lubricants, microsealing lips and metal sealing rings.
THIS IS WHY THESE PARTS ARE SO IMPORTANT Wishbone bushings provide the elastic connection between a vehicle’s suspension and its body. They absorb vibrations from the road and drive units, and in so doing reduce noise and improve steering behavior and driving stability – especially on poor road surfaces and for heavier vehicles. Ball joints help the driver to keep the vehicle on course. As a moving element, protected by a rubber bellow, they enable three-dimensional rotation and movement of the wheels, while absorbing radial and axial loads.
HIGH LEVELS OF SERVICE The components are available to order with immediate effect. Their compromise-free quality means we can offer registered workshops a 5-year guarantee for them – something no other manufacturer can match. Customers can also access a large number of practical services, including free fitting instructions and service videos. And the Product Information Center (PIC) provides all relevant product information, accessible via a userfriendly item search function. We are constantly expanding our product range, with stabilizer links set to be added in March 2025. Following on from the wheel bearings newly introduced in fall 2024, this means an extensive selection of drive belts, belt drive components, steering and suspension parts will now be available, along with the associated kits, tools and services.
