ABOUT NEXT NEXT Harm Reduction “NEXT” mails harm reduction supplies to people who use drugs across the country free of charge. In order to fulfill these supplies, participants enroll into the respective program for the supplies they are requesting (Naloxone or Distro) online, and harm reduction program coordinators fulfill these orders and use data around participation to further assist obtaining supplies and providing resources for these populations. Due to the sensitive nature of handling this information, NEXT is building out proprietary, scalable secure technology that will help NEXT meet participant needs, and expand programs throughout the country.

ABOUT THE POSITION As a Full Stack Developer, your role will be to assist our existing tech team in rapidly developing our custom-built applications--both participant facing platforms and tools that will be used internally by our NEXT and partner affiliates.

Here’s what you could expect to do as a Full Stack Developer (Freelance/Contract): ● Full time commitment from moment of hire through August 31st (which means available 40hrs a week with no other commitments). ● Standup attendance 3 times a week (currently lasting 30 mins @ 09:30 EDT MWF, recurring hour can be adjusted to the team's elected time zone). ● Be ready for sessions of pair programming. ● Help write the API documentation. ● Active involvement with other members of the tech team via Github issues. ● You will be expected to code using clear commit messages. ● Your hardware should be able to employ cryptographically (GPG) signed commits. ● Prioritize application security during development.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR ● ● ● ● ● ● ● ●

Must know fundamentals of SQL queries and relational database design.

Must know fundamentals of HTTPS. Must know fundamentals of REST API. Must have fluency with Javascript.

Must have at least a year of REACT experience.

Must know fundamentals of HTML. Must know fundamentals of Git version control for a collaborative project.

Must have reasonable communication skills (to be verified on interview).

Nice to have: ● ● ● ● ● ●

Experience developing for accessibility.

Preferred dev environment: macOS machine & VS Code (most supportable).

Comfortable, competent, and willing to code CSS. Experience with encryption is a plus.

COMPENSATION AND COMMITMENT Compensation for this contract position is $24-26k, depending on experience per deliverables.

The hour commitment is full time 40 hours per week. Position duration is June 1st- August 31st 2021.
