NEXT Distro Position: Resource Navigator Compensation: $52,000 with flexible 40 hours/week schedule Term: Two year grant funded contract Location: New York City, Flatiron Location Overview NEXT Distro “NEXT” is an online and mail-based harm reduction program working to provide resources to people who use drugs that cannot access in-person services. NEXT receives drug user health supply and support requests from across the country, including in states where we do not formally operate. NEXT will be hiring a Resource Navigator to provide assistance to individuals who need support with referrals, supportive counseling, drug user health education such as safer injection training and safety planning, and related services. This position will be responsible for providing support letters in supply packages. Our ideal candidate will have experience in harm reduction services and drug user health education nuances and techniques. This is a dynamic position that will support the increased drug user health education and support available to rural and remote communities. It will require a motivated individual who is internet savvy and has lived and/or professional experience in navigating social service systems as a person who uses drugs. Responsibilities ● Respond to participant requests for support that come into NEXT through our online order form by researching relevant information, developing a participant-specific response with resources, and doing so in a timely manner so the resourced response is able to be included with the participants’ supply package. Initiate contact with participants who opt into support services via text, call and/or phone. ● Follow up with participants to support their utilization of supportive resources and/or to provide additional support. This may include areas such as safer injection education, assistance obtaining identification, travel assistance support, advocacy, and supportive counseling. ● Provide safer injection, wound care, safer sex, and other harm reduction education using email, text, and phone-based communication. ● Complete timely documentation of services provided to participants and other program activities; Prepare qualitative and quantitative program reporting for NEXT leadership and external stakeholders. ● As part of a team, develop culturally informed materials and campaigns specific to participant needs with a focus on drug user health and wellbeing. ● Monitor NEXT phone lines during general hours; numbers are contacted by program participants and community stakeholders, this may include updating addresses, confirming order requests, and providing supportive counseling or crisis services. ● As part of a team, keep apprised of public health data related to drug user health needs, develop strategies to address emerging and location-specific health emergencies. Examples include overdose spikes and increases in HCV/HIV transmission. ● Other duties as assigned. Requirements ● Experience working in case management, outreach, community mobilizing, or adjacent participant centered services for a minimum of 2 years. Experiencing working in harm reduction is a strong plus.
