Naloxone Program Associate - Bilingual NYC Flatiron Location $23/hour, 35-40 hours/week with flexible schedule Overview NEXT Distro/nextdistro.org works to provide online and mail-based harm reduction resources to people who cannot access in-person syringe exchange program services. NEXT mails naloxone, syringes, fentanyl test strips, safer smoking supplies, safer sex supplies, and other harm reduction materials to program participants. The Naloxone Program Associate will be responsible for the inventory, preparation, packaging, and shipments specific to NEXT’s naloxone by mail program. This position requires good handwriting, proficiency in reading and writing English and Spanish, and the ability to manage incoming orders using a Google Sheets spreadsheet with multiple interconnected functions (multiple tabs, comment/note function, etc.), to accurately record outgoing supplies and shipments and to collaborate with remote staff members to solve problems. An ideal candidate will be personable and friendly, enjoy organization, taking ownership of tasks, and interested in welcoming and supporting volunteers. The job requires an individual who is able to lift heavy packages (max 30 lbs) and bring packages to the post office (2 blocks away) on foot using a cart. Essential Functions ● Manage supply order requests through an online spreadsheet based system. This will include critical thinking/problem solving and experience using spreadsheets. ● Prepare and pack shipments made to order including writing personalized messages, occasionally in Spanish. This will require legible handwriting, adequate spelling and grammar, and an empathic reading lens. ● Maintain accurate record-keeping related to supplies mailed using an xls spreadsheet. ● Support the bulk preparation and inventory of harm reduction supplies. This includes, packaging supplies, assembling overdose rescue kits, and stapling/folding educational materials. ● Manage all naloxone inventory in our NYC office, this includes forecasting, ordering, and unpacking supply shipments. ● As part of a national team, participate in organizational process improvement including meetings, workgroups, and brainstorming sessions. ● Ability to regularly and repeatedly lift up to 30 lbs, sit and stand, bend and reach, repeat fine and gross motor functions. ● Ability to adapt to changing program needs and quickly, efficiently, and independently prioritize and complete tasks to result in impactful program output. ● Oversee volunteers in the physical space, including ensuring adequate materials are available and volunteers are accomplishing tasks responsive to inventory and supply needs. ● Ensure a clean and orderly physical office space. This will require breaking down boxes, organizing and putting away materials, and problem-solving organization and storage issues. Requirements / Skills
