WORST WEDDING EVER

Rachel and Scott are getting married. They are also buying a house together. But when the house price goes up, their plans for a dream wedding may have to be downsized.

Rachel’s mother, however, has other ideas. What if the family could join forces and make it a wedding to be proud of? With a marquee in the back garden, the pub band and two fully-functioning portable loos, surely the day will pass without a hitch?

This laugh-out-loud comedy about preparations for a family wedding was a huge hit when it premiered at Salisbury Playhouse in 2014. Now you have a chance to enjoy one of the biggest new comedies in years.

Chris Chibnall is the creator of ITV’s Broadchurch and from 2018 will be Head Writer and Executive Producer of BBC TV’s Doctor Who.

With the storm floods rising and no rescue team in sight, the ladies are faced with the sudden realisation that in order to survive they are going to have to do what they have done for their entire lives – do it themselves!

Silver Lining is the hilarious new comedy by writer, actor, presenter and political activist Sandi Toksvig. Starring Sheila Reid, Joanna Monro, Amanda Walker, Rachel Davies and Maggie McCarthy. It tells the tale of five extraordinary yet forgotten women, who come together one treacherous night to recreate The Great Escape – senior citizen style!

Ipswich based award-winning theatre makers Gecko return to the New Wolsey Theatre with the next stage of their new production The Wedding, last presented as a work-in-progress in the 2016 PULSE Festival. Previous new productions, made in Ipswich, include Institute, Missing, and The Overcoat.

In a blur of wedding dresses and contractual obligations, this extraordinary international ensemble shares their struggle between love and anger, creation and destruction, community and isolation.

At 17, she is taken by her aunt to Bath where she encounters the social whirl denied her at home.

When Catherine accepts an invitation to the Tilney’s country seat at Northanger Abbey, lurid images from her favourite gothic novel The Mysteries of Udolpho threaten to overwhelm her. However, all misunderstandings are eventually resolved and, as in all the best Jane Austen novels, the young heroine finally gets her man…

Adapted by acclaimed Austen specialist Tim Luscombe, whose Mansfield Park was also produced and toured by the Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds.

MR DARCY LOSES THE PLOT Jane Austen sits writing, her quill scurrying across the vellum.

She is dreaming up Darcy, a proud, lip curling, handsome creation in very tight pants. But then a door squeaks, a visitor approaches and Jane hastily hides her work. Now left to his own devices, Darcy embroiders his own storyline whilst his creator stitches her quilt. When Jane returns she finds the plot has moved on and Darcy is dancing to a rather different tune.

WISDOM OF A FOOL In this emotional roller coaster one-man play Jack Lane takes you behind Norman Wisdom’s well-known character to reveal a tough and lonely childhood. After joining the Army he discovers a passion for comedy and begins to perfect an act that would go on to shape his unique style. The world of post-war Music Hall and Variety embraces Norman’s manic slapstick routine catapulting him to stardom in the early 1950s. Success on the silver screen including the hit song, Don’t Laugh at Me, seals his fame. But fame comes at a price...

Jack plays 30 characters throughout this tour de force performance. The Gump costume that features in the play belonged to Norman and has been generously loaned to the production by his son and daughter, Nicholas and Jacqueline Wisdom.

Haunted by visitations from a pathologist who swears he is already lying flat out on her slab, he begins to re-live the nightmarish final hours that see his body retrieved from the Thames, stripped of everything that made him who he was.
