We have high standards and understand that you do too, so we ensure that our taster sessions meet government expectations.

IN-PERSON TASTERS BUSINESS TASTER [Y10 / Y11]

ENGLISH TASTER [Y10 / Y11]

Joining one of our Business and Travel taster sessions will give you the opportunity to explore how a range of businesses build an iconic brand, ensure they have a dominant market share and keep their investors and shareholders happy. You will also have the chance to explore Sage Accounting Software in the T Level IT suite and visit our Cabin Crew simulation suite where students are building the knowledge and skills to progress into exciting careers in Travel and Tourism.

Understand various theories of how language was formed, and why it is important for cognitive development, then dive into the works of world renowned authors and writers with our NewVIc English taster. Book a taster for your students to come as a class or as a group to experience what our English department has to offer.

IT TASTER [Y10 / Y11] Be introduced to what encryption is and the need for it. Learn some simple techniques for breaking (or cracking) secret messages, and then get the opportunity to write a simple computer programme using Python a programming language that can decrypt secret messages.

IN-PERSON TASTERS FOUNDATION LEARNING TASTER [ Y11] Our Foundation Learning department offers a wide range of subjects to engage and equip SEND learners with useful skills including gardening, arts and crafts, enterprise and more. Book a Wednesday in which your students and their parents and guardians can come and tour the building as well as our Foundation Learning facilities.

MATHS TASTER [Y10 / Y11]

MEDIA TASTER [Y9 / Y10 / Y11]

From Algebra to Geometry our Maths and Further Maths subjects include a wide range of formulas for success. Our taster days for maths will allow you to challenge your brain with equations, and solve challenging questions including ‘Why not study Maths or Further Maths at NewVIc?’

Develop your media knowledge and skills by watching and analysing media projects our past students created as well as other professional productions. Take part in logo and theme tune quizzes.

Learn about the 3 categories of camerawork and how your choice of shots can enhance your storytelling. Finally, find out about the Media equipment we have and get that all important question answered, ‘Why study Creative Media at NewVIc?’

IN-PERSON TASTERS SPORT SCIENCE THEORY TASTER [Y10 / Y11] In this taster you will gain an insight into sports science here at NewVIc. We have a range of sports tasters both practical and theory.For theory, you will consider how to make an isotonic, hypotonic and hypertonic sports drink, the different muscles and their functions and much more.

SPORT SCIENCE PRACTICAL TASTER [Y10 / Y11] How FIT are you? Discover and explore the components of fitness in our practical sports sessions. Understand your own skill related components of fitness through some fun and challenging activities. Whether you are interested in studying sport or just interested in knowing how to improve your fitness or sporting ability come and join us; I'm sure we can convince you that Sport and Newvic are the right FIT for you.

SOCIAL SCIENCES TASTER

[Y10 / Y11]

Build your understanding of the social sciences by exploring the unique case of Phineas Gage, which you will examine through the lens of Psychology, Sociology, Criminology and Law. You’ll get a taste of what it’s like to study each of these subjects and meet our tutors. You’ll also get those all important questions answered, such as ‘Why study social sciences and why study social sciences at NewVIc.

ONLINE TASTERS We also run online sessions that are available for students, parents and teachers to join.
