But, there are also some brilliant and talented youngsters who are waiting for THE opportunity to make a name for themselves. NewStyle being the only two fashion-oriented magazines in Mauritius, thus, provide them with a free platform.

Over the last year, NewStyle has earned the title of a talent discovery magazine. We are offering free space for young and talented make up artists, hair stylists, models and fitness freaks.Through our collaborations, give them the chance to showcase their works and gain experience. NewStyle increase their exposure and develop their career.

She’s got the look!

Presenting our Model of the Month! Shanone Savatheama is just 20-years old, “I feel very grateful and lucky to be Model of the Month. I would like to thanks Newstyle magazine for recognizing my hard work”. Our readers still remember as Shanone was amongst the first ones to feature on the first issue of Newstyle.

Fascinated by fashion shows since childhoodm she always wanted to be a model, “I felt that this is where I wanted to be without knowing how. I just had a gut feeling”. She began her career at 15 years old. At the age of 16, Shanone Savatheama participated in Elite Model Look Mauritius, “It was a very good beginning for me and a great experience because I got the chance to be trained by professional models. Later, I joined Gold Models agency where I got more opportunities such as fashion shows, photo shoots, adverts and also as influencer”.

“Today, when I look back at my life, I think about how fascinating it was. Something that I thought would happened, eventually did and worked out for me. I genuinely believe that if you want something, you focus your energy on making it happen” she says.

Shanone Savatheama also likes to design clothes, “I am actually thinking of following some fashion courses as I would like to be a fashion designer later. My first love is modeling and I wish I could do that for the rest of my life.

Unfortunately I can’t as the fashion industry still has a long way to go in Mauritius”. She confides that she does not follow trends slavishly, “I wear clothes in which I feel comfortable but still I like to dress elegantly. My favorite style is vintage. There is a kind of charm hidden in vintage style”.

She has not yet participated for any beauty contest, “I do not feel ready for it for the time being. A beauty contest is not something to be taken for granted. It demands times and responsibilities as well. And it is also a great way to support important issues such as AIDS, violence against women, drugs, or campaigns on people suffering from mental illness. I will do it when the right moment comes”.

Elle a débuté dans le mannequinat à 15 ans. A 16 ans, elle participe au Elite Model Look Mauritius. Elle a fait aussi partie de l’agence Gold Models. Shanone Savatheama est aussi passionnée par la création des vêtements. Elle avoue, cependant, ne pas toujours suivre les dernières tendances. Elle préfère les pièces vestimentaires confortables mais élégantes. Le vintage est son style préféré.

An Indelible Passion NEVEN GOINDEN Neven Goinden is a tattoo artist since November 2012. The 26-Year-Old is known for different styles namely Watercolor, Geometric and Mandala, Realistic tattoo, Japanese and Polynesian. He says that the most popular style is Geometric and Mandala in Mauritius, “The journey of these types of tattoos are unpredictable, fascinating and spiritual. Mandala tattoos and geometric patterns are a wonderful way to enhance the human body. They are both feminine and masculine”.

“The human body is like a living canvas on which tattoo artists and tattoo collectors are able to express themselves to the fullest. Nowadays, tattoos are more connected to fine art. Many clothing designers find inspiration in the art of tattoos and apply it in their patterns. As Michelle Delio puts it, tattoos have a power and magic all their own. They decorate the body but also enhance the soul” he says.

Neven Goinden was inspired by a television show called LA ink. It was on the everyday life of the tattoo artists, “It was so amaz-

ing to see them working on the tattoos and talking about the story of the client. After some months, I got my first tattoo kit from my brother, I knew that to be a professional tattoo artist, the first step was to start drawing”. He drew everyday while learning the tattoo basics and the hygienic part on Youtube.

“After one year, I did my first tattoo and never stop since then. Self learning has always been difficult but the keys to success are, true passion, determination and most of all patience. My best experience was to attend a tattoo convention in Melbourne called “The Rites of Passage” in 2014. There, I met some of the best tattoo artists around the world. This was the boost that I needed to continue working on my dream and to never lose hope. I am now a professional tattoo artist and I am still learning on an everday basis” he relates. Neven Goinden, himself, counts 17 tattoos!

His studio is found at 198A Mayfair building along Royal Road Curepipe.

Neven Goinden a 26 ans et compte 17 tatouages. Le tatoueur est connu pour différents styles. Il qualifie le corps humain comme un tableau vivant. Il a été inspiré par l’émission LA ink consacrée au quotidien des tatoueurs. Ensuite, son frère lui a offert son premier kit. Depuis novembre 2012, il exerce comme tatoueurs. Il a aussi assisté à The Rites of Passage à Melbourne en Australie en 2014.

Sajed Makeup : The beauty of arabic makeup The Arabian Night was the theme of a fashion show which took place on November 30, 2018 at Royal Gardens in Beau Bassin. It was done by Sajeeda Yadallee (Sajed Makeup). She showcased the different types of Arabic makeups and styles, “Many people consider Arabic Makeup as a heavy makeup. It is not always true.

Also, I wanted to share my fashion taste, in terms of Arabic dresses, that is the Abayas, with the audience. The concept showed that modesty can be also be elegant� Sajeeda Yadallee says.

The Arabian Night était le thème d’un défilé au Royal Gardens à Beau Bassin, le 30 novembre et organisé par Sajeeda Yadallee (Sajed Makeup). Elle a présenté les différents styles du maquillage arabe.

“Beaucoup pense que le maquillage arabe est lourd. Ce n’est pas toujours vrai. Je voulais aussi partager mes goûts en matière de mode, précisemment Abayas avec l’audience. Le concept a montré que la modestie rime aussi avec élégance” dit Sajeeda Yadallee.

Six-time gold medalist for the World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO) World Cup, triple African champion and WAKO World Champion 2013…and James Agathe is still going strong. In the beginning of November, he kickstarted his preparation for 2019.
