ISSUE 20 Editor’s Note In the fashion niche, fame brings a lot of opportunities and visibility. The known professionals are doing a wonderful job. But, there are also some brilliant and talented youngsters who are waiting for THE opportunity to make a name for themselves. NewStyle being the only two fashion-oriented magazines in Mauritius, thus, provide them with a free platform.

Over the last year, NewStyle has earned the title of a talent discovery magazine. We are offering free space for young and talented make up artists, hair stylists, models and fitness freaks.Through our collaborations, give them the chance to showcase their works and gain experience. NewStyle increase their exposure and develop their career.

Au cours de la dernière année, NewStyle a mérité le titre d’un magazine qui va à la découverte des talents. Nous présentons un espace gratuit pour les jeunes et talentueux maquilleurs, coiffeurs, mannequins et les adeptes de fitness. A travers des collaborations, nous les donnons la chance de mettre en avant leurs oeuvres et d’acquérir en expérience. NewStyle contribue à accroître leur visibilité et développe leur carrière.

En outre, NewStyle met l’accent sur le concept de beauty with brains où l’intelligence va de paire avec la beauté.

Incarnating perseverance and femininity

“A perfect example of determination and hard work” … this is how Dr. Aansa Bedacee is described by the University of Bedfordshire, United Kingdom. Love is her signature, personality is her beauty and knowledge is her strength. It seems that she has taken the concept of “beauty with brain” to a whole new level.

Recently, Aansa Bedacee has been a jury member on the national TV channel for the National Innovation Challenge Competition. She has spent 13 years studying 3 postgraduate degrees and doing her PhD. She also bagged a Gold Medal and the Postgraduate Research Prize during her academic journey.

Aansa currently manages the communication department of four companies. Operating in a male dominated sector, she asserts herself with elegance and power.

Along with being tough, she is dynamic and ultra-feminine. As a former finalist of Miss World Mauritius, she still has a foot in the fashion industry and is the exclusive model of Ocean.

Gratitude and love are her mantra in life.

Aansa is grateful to the Almighty and to all the people in her life. She has never com-

promised on being who she is in order to please others or to fit in any kind of mold.

She adds that “beauty shines when you are yourself. Compromising yourself makes you lose both your personality and uniqueness.

Always being true to myself and listening to my heart are my path to happiness.”

Aansa is an avid reader, particularly of spirituality. She equally enjoys travelling. These contribute to her never ending learning.

Her passport bears visa stamps of European, Asian, African and Middle Eastern countries. For over 10 years now, Aansa has been delivering talks on women empowerment, education and leadership in foreign universities. Her works have also been published in books and used as references by foreign doctoral students.

This lady surely has a zing for life. It is therefore not surprising that her works and achievements have positioned her as the Runner Up for The Outstanding Young Person in 2009. When asked about what is important to her, she joyfully responds, “Love in all its forms… Love is the power that feeds our souls, beautifies our lives and heals the world.” She wishes to maintain a peaceful loving life and thrive for the welfare of others.

L’ancienne finaliste de Miss World Mauritius, a été membre du jury de National Innovation Challenge Competition. Durant ces derniers dix ans, elle a animé des séances de travaux universitaires sur différents thèmes comme la condition féminine, l’enseignement supérieur et leadership dans diverses universités à travers le monde. KABIR DUHAN SINGH He is known for his chiselled face, his sculpted muscles and his acting. Kabir Duhan Singh was in Mauritius from September 15th till 24th. The 32-year-old was shooting for his first Bollywood movie which is set to release for Diwali 2019. Fashion being his passion, he started modelling in Delhi in 2008. In 2011, he shifted to Mumbai. Three years later, he received his first call from Tollywood. He, thus, made his debut in Jil. “The director came to meet me in Mumbai. I had to give a look test and I bagged the offer” relates Kabir Duhan Singh. He recently signed for his 24th film, this time also as an antagonist, ,“I am very happy and blessed. All thanks to God”.

Lifting spirits Meekash Jagroop is a gym instructor since the last three years.

His role is to build trust in the relationship shared with clients, “I motivate them to achieve their full potential by creating a fitness program and a proper diet plan. Communication is also very important. I have to listen to theirs needs and aspirations to help them reach their goal”. The 36-year-old says that as a gym instructor, he meets new people, share his love for fitness, and contribute to welfare of others. He acts as a role model. “Besides, I get paid to workout” he says humorously.

He practices spinning, bodypump, weight training, strength training and yoga, “Exercices reduce the risk of developping several diseases, thus, maintaining a good health. They help to improve the physical condition, sleep better, live longer and boost mental health”.

Muscler les motivations Trois ans depuis que Meekash Jagroop est devenu instructeur de fitness. Il cultive une relation de confiance avec ses clients afin de les aider à atteindre leur objectif. Il est à l’écoute de leurs exigences pour mieux développer le programme de fitness adapté. Son rôle d’instructeur de fitness lui permet de faire des rencontres, partager sa passion pour le fitness et contribuer au bienêtre des autres. Meekash Jagroop dit que les exercices contribuent à rester en bonne santé, améliorer la condition physique, mieux dormir, vivre aussi longtemps possible et booster la santé mentale.

Fabrice Cateaux “Fitness is a harsh game” It has been only two years now since Fabrice Cateaux started building his muscles. He has been training in his bedroom. The 19-yearold used to practice sports since a younger age, “I loved competitions and hate losing.

These made me one of the best athletes at school. With time, winning became a habit and I was no longer enthused”. He remembers his best friend recommending him to try fitness. “I did as he said and I was hooked.

Fitness is a harsh game. You have to adhere to a proper meal plan and stick to regular sleep hours. You have to go beyond your limits as your only enemy is yourself. It tends to be hard as you are always gaining muscle mass. But I love when things get tougher.

Body building is more than just a sport. It has become a lifestyle that only motivated people can handle” he says.

Fabrice Cateaux practices 12 hours of weight training and 2 hours of cardio per week. He adds that keeping fit is a sign that you care for your beauty, “Beauty is not limited to the appearance or body. It is the beauty of the mind. It requires discipline, dedication, perserverance and lots of sweat. You are building your mind as much as your body. Even if it does not exist, I am thriving for the perfect physique. I will not be at ease until I attain my objective. This is how my body becomes a reflection of my mind”.

He says that one has to maintain a healthy lifestyle if he wants to live life to the fullest.

“You are living in your body 24 h/24. You are the most precious thing on Earth, so please take care of your health. No one will do it for you, except you” Fabrice advises.

“Un esprit sain dans un corps sain” Du haut de ses 19 ans, Fabrice Cateaux fait envier les autres avec sa silhouette musclée. Il continue à se soumettre au bodybuilding afin de tracer le corps parfait dont il rêve, “Je suis conscient que le physique idéal n’existe pas. Mais j’ai un objectif à atteindre. Mon corps est ainsi une réflexion de mon esprit”. Pour Fabrice Cateaux, le fitness est une activité cruelle.

Elle exige de la discipline, la motivation, la persévérance et les sueurs, “Bodybuilding est plus qu’un sport. Il est devenu un style de vie qu’uniquement les personnes déterminées peuvent mener”. Il pratique la musculation 12 heures par semaine et deux heures de cardio.

“Vous êtes la chose la plus précieuse sur Terre, prenez donc soin de vous. Personne ne le fera à votre place” dit Fabrice Cateaux.
