What's On at the Black Swan Pub and Theatre in North Walsham, July-September 2024
OPENING TIMES
Tuesday-Saturday from 10am Sundays from 12noon Mondays from 6pm
Ask us about our kitchen opening ti mes or check us out online. We also have themed food nights and we can cater for all parties and events here in the pub, the theatre or off site!
We’re a family-friendly pub and dogs are welcome too.
We have free parking (for customers and audiences) in our own car park and Bank Loke Car Park is just next door (which is free aft er 6pm).
We’re just 30 yards from the Market Place through Black Swan Loke and a 10 minute walk from the train station or a few minutes from the Travel Hub.
We have an accessible WC in our theatre and we will always do our best to accommodate everybody We have a zero tolerance policy to any anti-social behaviour, disrespect or discrimination of any kind.
The Black Swan Pub and Theatre is run by New Stages, which was set up in 2017 by Joseph Ballard to present shows, classes and community projects and we took over the Black Swan pub in October 2023 to work alongside our theatre. We have a Board and also a Community Forum to help shape our activity.
New Stages Projects CIC is a not-for profit organisation, a Community Interest Company registered in England and Wales, number 13203008. www.newstages.co.uk @newstages
A full-on summer
In one way it feels like we’ve had this pub for ages, in another way it’s all happened so quickly! Firstly thank you to all our customers, the community, the team and our amazing volunteers over our first six months. It’s the people and the things we do that make this much more than just a pub. We’re a meeting place, a theatre, a place for learning, socialising, eating and connecting with one another. Our theatre shows have well been well-received and our food offering has got rave reviews because we have kept it local! We’ve also been welcoming new members to the team and we’ve got new events lined up like a whole week to celebrate Norfolk Day and our annual BBQ. We’ve also got a lot planned for the summer holidays for younger ones and we’re showing films on our fantastic cinema screen in the theatre!
Remember it’s your custom that supports these projects, including our wellbeing and counselling programmes and our projects that consider social isolation and sense of belonging. We’ve got this with everyone, including you, on board!
Joseph Ballard Landlord and Director of New
Stages
We are not-for-profit
As a Community Interest Company we self-fund ourselves through your custom. We also apply for funding grants to help support our theatre and community projects and we welcome donations and sponsorship. The pub is run by New Stages, with Joseph as the landlord and a team of staff and volunteers. It means that when we do (eventually) make a profit (money made after paying all the bills!) it will go straight back into our activities like youth theatre work, our theatre, workshops and other community projects.
Help shape our activity
Join our Community Forum for a cuppa and chat about ideas! We want to ensure that our place is your place, and for the community. That means we’re open to ideas and volunteers!
We welcome donations, local partnerships and sponsorship. We are unique as a not-for-profit community pub with a theatre space.
You can donate or get-in-touch with us in-person in the pub or via our website. The best way to support us is to think of us as your local. We want to ensure the pub stays open and grows as a community asset for the town. Help us by sharing our vision and telling everyone about it!
