EVEN after this week’s showers, Hunter Water has declared Level 1 water restrictions across the Lower Hunter from this week, helping to conserve the region’s precious drinking water supplies. The severe drought affecting NSW has had a significant impact on dam levels, prompting the introduction of water restrictions in this region for the first time in 25 years. Hunter Water’s Acting CEO Graham Wood encouraged the community

to follow the water restrictions and continue to ‘Love Water’. “It’s more important than ever that we all play our part and save water, particularly as we head into the warmer months. “Level 1 water restrictions apply across our entire region, meaning outdoor watering is only permitted before 10am and after 4pm and all hoses must have a trigger nozzle. ANOTHER splash of colour has been added to the Nelson Bay Post Office corner last weekend. The Town’s Civic Pride Group volunteers have “upcycled” some large garden pots and painted them to

match the public seats. The pots are the result of a co-operative arrangement with some artists from the Port Stephens Community Arts Centre and Salamander Bay Recycling Centre which has seen colourful nautical
