TOMAREE High School year 12 students showcased their professional catering skills at the launch of ‘Tastes At The Bay’ in Nelson Bay recently. The students created Hors d’oeuvre, and delectable desserts. From quiches and canapés to miniature lemon meringue pies and chocolate brownies, every morsel was tantalising on the tastebuds. The business community turned out and enjoyed the wonderful repast which was the official launch of ‘Tastes At The Bay’. Kate Washington, Member for Port Stephens told News Of The Area, “It is wonderful to see school students getting opportunities to contribute to community events like this, and their efforts were very much appreciated by everyone present.” Qualified Chef and Head Teacher of Hospitality at Tomaree High School Karen Shaw, told News Of The Area, “I’d like to say that this is the last time that I will be donning my Chef’s jacket for Tomaree High School.” She believes that the students have every reason to be pleased with their efforts which took all day to create. “I am really proud of the effort that the students have put in and the quality of the food that they have served tonight,” she said. The professionalism of the Tomaree High School students was truly evident in their food and service.
