Flume will make its splash on May 2nd!

• • • • A unique, interactive new flume will open on May 2nd, 2016 at ONE NK as part of the facility’s £3.6m upgrade.

The I-slide will be the first of its kind in the UK, with options to select games and experiences for an interactive digital ride.

And in a first for the UK, riders can choose to have their photo taken, which is then emailed to them.

The flume will be launched with options for different themed experiences which will be periodically changed to ensure continued excitement.

The flume is just one of the many improvements taking place at the popular facility which for 42 years has been known as the NK Centre.

The refurbishment creates a fantastic family experience and enables new competitive swimming

galas to be held. Alongside the flume’s installation and the new Magna Carta splash zone for smaller children, the fourth and final phase of ongoing refurbishment includes transformation of changing facilities into a more family-friendly changing village and re-tiling, new sound-proofing and better insulation of the pool hall.

The new interactive flume at One NK will be the first of its kind in the United Kingdom. Users will be able to choose between 12 different ride experiences, as well as have their photo taken and time score recorded.

Magna Carta Splash area progression in pictures One of the exciting new features at the NK Centre is a Magna Cartainspired interactive splash zone.

Designed as an introduction to watery fun for tots through to toddlers, it will give youngsters the chance to use their imaginations and start off the family swimming experience.

It’s bespoke!! > It’s based on an initial hand drawn sketch that was recreated by designers > It’s been made by Van Egdom and was shipped over from Holland > A splash area with links to our Lincolnshire history > The design was drawn around existing columns in the pool hall > Magna Carta is a 13thcentury document > It was granted by King John in June 1215 > 2015 was the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta > Only three of the original clauses in Magna Carta are still law > Magna Carta was written on parchment, which was made from dried sheepskin.

One NK - New Centre, New Look !

The centre’s redevelopment is really taking shape now, inside and out. The external elevation shows how new and fresh the approach has been in redeveloping this old and tired centre. The gym, studios and swimming pool have all had a refresh, with new changing facilities being put in place as you read this newsletter. The reception area is much more welcoming, and users overall experience will be better than ever before.
