(Daniel 9:3-7, Then I set my face toward the Lord God to make request by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes. And I prayed to the Lord my God, and made confession, and said, “O Lord, great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant and mercy with those who love Him, and with those who keep His commandments, we have sinned and committed iniquity, we have done wickedly and rebelled, even by departing from Your precepts and Your judgments. Neither have we heeded Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings and our princes, to our fathers and all the people of the land. O Lord, righteousness belongs to You, but to us shame of face, as it is this day…) Many years ago, or around 600 BC the prophet Daniel sought the Lord with prayers and supplication with a broken spirit due to the sins of those in the land. I wonder how this prayer is not being proclaimed in our current age of enlightenment. Yes, the age where truth is based on opinion of the mind and proclaimed as being an example of tolerance, acceptance and the love. We’re quickly approaching the National Day of Prayer where (2 Chronicles 7:14) is read every year as far back as I can remember, but I wonder if these words are read aloud merely as tradition and not understood as a condition of God’s continual blessing? (If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.) This is a prayer of a conditional nature and a warning that there must be a conforming to God or else. Daniel spoke of the wickedness in society where sinning was common and society had departed from God’s precepts and commandments while being oblivious to and denying judgement. The bible tells of the mindset of those who continually live in the delusion of demons believing that God doesn’t care, nor can he see, or they wouldn’t be able to continue in their lifestyle of sin. Repent as judgement is coming. (Rev 12:20, And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.)
In Jesus,
Pastor Bill Bracken
