(Heb 11:1, Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.) Faith, that little 5 lettered word that appears in the Bible some 356 times, 280 of which are in the New Testament. The word faith is that of which we live and breathe. (Heb 11:6, But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.) Faith in believing in the promises, predictions and prophesies contained within God’s Holy Word, the Bible. Yet in the world today there are many who either do not believe the Bible and create within their own minds and hearts a belief that justifies not only their actions but the goings on in society. Many will even claim that every event is orchestrated by their god. Sad to say God speaks of this group in: (Romans 3:3-4, For what, though some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? God forbid yea, let God be true, and every man a liar, as it is written, That thou might be justified in thy words, and overcome, when thou art judged.) Just because there are some who do not believe it does not negate the fact that all will fall under the judgement of consequence by God. We are in a time in the history of the world where mass confusion and delusion have taken over the minds and souls of many in society. Truth has been diluted as a subjective term of fluidity going to and fro. Jesus Christ said: (Jn 14:6, I am the Way, the Truth and the Life and no one comes to God the Father but by Me) What of confusion that has overcome the world? (1 Cor 4:4, the god of this world has blinded the minds) here is only one way and that way is by believing in Jesus Christ as the only intercessor to God the creator who will one day judge: (Phil 2:10-11,That at the Name of Jesus should every knee bow, both of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth. And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is the Lord, unto the glory of God the Father.)

Pastor Bill Bracken InJesusLove,

In 1976, Missouri's Centennial Farm project awarded certificates to persons owning farms that had been in the same family for 100 years or more. The MU College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources and MU Extension planned a 10-year update in 1986 called the Century Farm program. Since then, the program has been an annual event, recognizing more than 100 farms each year. In 2008, the Missouri Farm Bureau became a program co-sponsor. More than 8,000 Missouri Century Farms have been recognized.

“Missouri Farm Bureau is a proud partner in the recognition of century farms,” said Garrett Hawkins, president of Missouri Farm Bureau. “We applaud the hard-working farm families that have kept us fed and clothed for generations. They represent an important part of our heritage and laid a foundation for the bounty Americans enjoy every day.” To qualify, farms must meet the following criteria:

The same family must have owned the farm for 100 consecutive years. The line of ownership from the original settler or buyer may be through children, grandchildren, siblings, and nephews or nieces, including through marriage or adoption. The farm must be at least 40 acres of the original land acquisition and make a financial contribution to the overall farm income.

For more information, visit the program's webpage at https://extension.missouri.edu/programs/century-farms.

appreciate your help in keeping Albany looking great and hope to provide additional clean up opportunities in the future.

Dina is an RN and Madison is an LPN, both assisting in the emergency department. Dina has been a valuable employee at our hospital for 20+ years and with GRRAD for 18 of those years. Madison has been with Mosaic, first with hospice, and then at the hospital, for 4 years and started with GRRAD just over a year ago.

Dina Thomas grew up in Lenox, Iowa but moved to Stanberry in 1988 when the city hired her father as its city administrator. She graduated from Stanbery R-II in 1991, married the love of her life, Ronnie Thomas, a year or so later, and then in 2004, moved to Albany while Ronnie was deployed to Germany. (Ronnie completed 37 years with the Missouri National Guard when he retired in December 2022.) Dina started at Gentry County Memorial Hospital as a CNA, then transferred to billing/admissions for Northwest Medical Center, then back to the “floor” a few years later. Dina wanted to further her medical training and graduated with her RN degree from North Central Missouri College in 2016. (For those of you who are new to the area or are “Zoomers – too young to remember,” the three hospitals named above are the same hospital…just with name changes over the years.)

Dina and Ronnie have 3 children: Blake, Katie, and Brittany, and they are the proud grandparents of Rose, Peyton, Reed, Seeley, Jasper, and Reddick. Dina’s favorite pastimes are playing with those little ones, reading, and shopping with her friends. She says, “I love being able to help others anywhere I can, whether it is on the ambulance or at the hospital.”

Madison Summa grew up in the Stanberry area and she, too, graduated from Stanberry R-II. Her parents are Brian and Ginger Summa: Ginger has provided social services for Mosaic (formerly Heartland – another name change) for 30 years and now does so at our hospital; Brian farms and is a school bus driver for Albany. Three years ago, Madison moved from Stanberry to Coffey with her boyfriend, Ryan Lewis, who is employed by South View Farms.

Madison says this about working at GRRAD: “As rewarding as it is to care for the folks in our community at the hospital, it is such a terrific opportunity to serve with the GRRAD crew members. Having been in Albany’s ER for the past couple of years, I have witnessed just how intelligent, skilled, and caring the GRRAD crews are and how much respect and admiration their patients, the patients’ loved ones, and our hospital staff has for them. That is why I chose to get my EMT certification. I wanted to be a part of that incredible GRRAD team, and I hope that I can become just as good as they are! Thank you to all the GRRAD EMS crews; your dedication does not go unnoticed.”

When Madison has a bit of free time, she enjoys spending it with her family and with Ryan’s; she likes raising and caring for her “chicken family,” playing with her dog, and selling Scentsy products. She is a busy young woman!

These two ladies give so much of their time helping and caring for the people of our communities, and the Grand River Regional Ambulance District Board of Directors is so grateful for their much needed and appreciated assistance with our emergency services.

~OBITUARY~ JUDITH WALP MARCH 9, 1930 v FEBRUARY 27, 2024

Judith Walp, 93, New Hampton, MO passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at a Bethany, MO nursing home.

Judith was born on March 9, 1930, on the farm where she grew up north of New Hampton to Edgar and Ruth (Everly) Carter.

After her parents passed, she moved back to her birthplace and remained there until just recently. She was baptized at an early age and became a member of the New Hampton United Methodist Church.

Judith married Bert Eugene Walp on June 20, 1968, in Kansas City, MO.

Judith lived and worked in Kansas City and later moved to the farm next to her paternal grandparents, next to her birth home. She cared for many children through the years and enjoyed seeing those children with their own children. The last few years she greatly enjoyed her trips to Kentucky to see great-grandkids and Thanksgiving trips to Quincy, IL with family. She enjoyed “Seek and Finds” and love inspired romance books. She cut out many double knit blocks for blankets that she and Dorothea made and donated. She always had a smile and will be missed by all who knew her.

Judith was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brother, Charles Adam (Marcell) Carter and a son-in-law, Gary Atwood.

Judith is survived by her five children, Donald Walp, Kansas City, MO, Douglas Walp, Florida, James Walp, Idaho, Janis Atwood, Campbellsville, KY, and Dorothea Walp, New Hampton, MO; grandchildren, Rhyan (Marsha) Atwood, Campbellsville, KY, Lindsey (Travis) Begley, Campbellsville, KY, James (Lizzy) Walp, Caldwell, ID, Tyler Walp, Boise, ID, Rachal Walp, Texas, Toni (Shane) Guinnip, Booneville, MO, and Gabriel Bateman, Gladstone, MO; great-grandchildren, Anna Kate Atwood, Hunter Begley, Maddox Atwood, Wyatt Begley, and Abigail Walp; and her nephews, Lonnie Carter, Larry Carter and David Carter, great-nieces and nephews and many friends.

Funeral Services were held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial followed in Foster Cemetery, New Hampton, MO. Memorials may be made to Foster Cemetery and/or the donor’s choice in care of Roberson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 46, Bethany, MO 64424. Online condolences may be left at www.robersonfuneralhome.com.
