Thank You!
I just want to start off with thanking everyone for their donations and more so your prayers! They have definitely worked we have a great team up above and they have answered all the best prayers for baby Maicee. We are now 6 months old and doing better than expected! Our new MRI shows miraculous brain recovery! We still have some damage and we are working with therapists with strengthening our weak spots. We have no physical issues as of now with movements or muscle tension. We are babbling up a storm and getting stronger and stronger every month! We are slow with reaching milestones but that’s okay!
THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR CONTINUED PRAYERS!
27, 2023
Manring retired in 2022 from the R-1 School District after a 37-year career as a band and choral director. His service beyond the classroom includes over 25 years as a music adjudicator and clinician for a wide variety of middle and high school music performing groups. As an MSHSAA trained and certified adjudicator, he has evaluated solo, small ensemble, and large ensemble events in 17 of the state’s 20 festival districts.
Other service to MSHSAA programs included a four-year term on the Music Advisory Committee, which annually reviews rules governing music activities and evaluates suggestions for changes to the festival process, and also an ongoing appointment since 2015 as a rules interpreter for the Southwest District. With the support and encouragement of the Stockton R-1 Schools, he accepted the responsibilities of Festival Manager for MSHSAA District 7 in 2008, and continues each year to coordinate this region’s festival events both at SHS and at Southwest Baptist University.
The Tiger Band was a regularly-featured performing group for twenty years at a session of the annual Show-Me Showdown Basketball Championships at both the Hearnes Arena and Mizzou Arena in Columbia as well as the JQH Arena in Springfield.
MSHSAA recognized Manring in 2018 as the state’s recipient of the National Federation of High Schools’ Educator of the Year. He also served as Missouri’s representative for MSHSAA to a virtual awards ceremony in 2020 recognizing the nation’s music educators for their efforts during the pandemic, sponsored by the National Association of Music Merchants in Nashville, TN. Manring accepted the Eagle Award from NAMM on behalf of Missouri’s 3000-plus music educators, many of whom continued to teach virtually and in other isolated circumstances in the spring of 2020.
Manring will continue to serve during the spring as an adjudicator and clinician for nearly a dozen events across the state, both within the framework of the MSHSAA evaluative system and also in locally-organized events by member schools. He conducted a band clinic and concert on January 11 at Glasgow High School for 75 students in the Central Activities Conference and will assume the same duties for the Tri-County Conference at Eldon on February 11. In addition, he has served on the advisory board for the Missouri Music Educators Association as historian since 2009, and presented a display of MMEA’s archival materials at this month’s conference.
Manring is a 1981 graduate of Albany High School and attended Central Methodist College (now CMU) in Fayette, MO.
ALICIA DILLIVAN
~OBITUARY~ Cora Maye (Adams) Findley
April 16, 1952 - January 30, 2023
Cora Maye (Adams) Findley was born in Parnell, Missouri on April 16, 1952, to Victor and Jean Adams. She passed away on January 30, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. She was 70 years old.
Corky graduated from Ravenwood where she participated in cheerleading and basketball. She fell in love with a handsome young man who would make an occasional trip to Parnell with some buddies, and on December 13, 1975, she married her soulmate, Pete Findley. Although she had various jobs through the years as a tax collector, caregiver and bookkeeper at the nursing home, bookkeeper for the Shopper, and election official, she was most importantly a wife and mother on the farm. She and Pete were married for 47 years; together they created a wonderful family of four children, nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She loved her family more than anything in the world.
When the kids were growing up and the house was full, she loved to bake and make candy. She would often try new recipes for supper; some were ok, and some would cause Pete to leave the table for his recliner. Though the house may have been messy and unorganized between jobs, kids, school, and activities, they always had clean clothes and a meal each night. Her mild-mannered temperament reigned in her sometimes unruly children with the simple phrase, “Wait until Dad gets home.”
As her focus turned from her kids to her grandkids, she also supported them in anything they chose to do. She kept her calendar full of ball games, programs, concerts, and plays. She proudly wore homemade jewelry from her grandkids and their artwork hung on her walls, as she preferred these treasures over real gems any day.
She loved all holidays, especially Christmas. She was usually done with her shopping before October so she could find the best deals. She always dressed up for Halloween and had special individualized goodies for each of her trick-or-treaters. She never forgot a birthday or anniversary and would often hand-deliver a card on the actual day, even if she was at the party the day before. Every Sunday after church was dinner at her house. She somehow fed the whole crew every week and there was always enough food, whether four people or thirty-four showed up. Either number was ok, as all were welcome.
Her flowers and garden decorations also kept her busy. She spent many evenings on the porch swing, watching the birds and thinking of how to re-arrange her plants to look just so. She kept in touch with everyone; aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, etc. She knew where they were, who they married, and what they were up to. Her lost glasses were most often found right where she left them, on top of her head. She had a great sense of humor.
She was a very active member of Gentry Baptist Church for most of her adult life. She taught Sunday School for years and always coordinated the children’s Christmas program. She had a distinct alto voice that sang in beautiful harmony. Many holidays were marked by her singing a solo or a duet with Teresa in front of the church. Her actions were fueled by a deep faith in Jesus Christ. This is the legacy she has left with her family, as she instilled the importance of prayer and reading the Bible in all of us.
If you knew her, you couldn’t help but love her. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her father Victor Adams, sister Jane and her husband Terry Wyer, infant brother and sister, father-in-law Bob Findley, sister-in-law Betty Sherer, brothers-in-law, Ralph Stevens and Don Force.
Survivors include her husband, Donald (Pete) Findley, of the home; sons, Steven (Connie) Adams, Albany; Tim (Sarah) Findley, Albany; Brian (Beth) Findley, Gentry; daughter, Teresa Findley, Albany; mother, Jean Adams, Maryville; sisters, Francis Force, Grant City; Bonnie (Steve) Moreland, Bethany; Annie (Danny) Bohon, Maryville; brother, Vic (Nancy) Adams, Maryville; motherin-law, Donna Findley, Albany; 9 grandchildren; 7 greatgrandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services 10:00 AM Friday, February 3 at the Roberson-Polley Chapel, Albany, burial at the Knox Cemetery, Worth, MO. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association in care of the Roberson-Polley Chapel, 403 N. Hundley, Albany, MO 64402. Online condolences: www.robersonpolleychapel.com
On behalf of Pete and her family, we would like to thank everyone who has shown their support through food, cards, kind gestures, heartfelt words, and prayer.

The Island City Christian & Calvary Stanberry Churches
(Galatians 3:22-25, But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. Therefore, the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.) Last Sunday I posed the question: What does it mean to be a Christian? What do you do when you go to church? I’m reminded of the song, ‘Here we come to worship, here we come here to bow down, here we come to serve Jesus the king’. The bible tells us that ‘All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God’ (Romans 3:23) The word sinned is one of missing the mark, this was from the beginning not to be so but due to the tempter in the garden and the willingness of flesh to seek their own all have sinned. This may seem awkward as there are many good moral people who one might think could do no wrong, yet God’s word tells us that ‘All have sinned’ and fallen short of meeting God’s righteous standards to enter into eternal life in the heavenlies. Paul tells us here in the letter to the various churches of the area in Galatia that the law was designed to be a teacher so we would realize that no flesh could become justified by works, no matter the effort put forth God’s requirement could never be met for eternal life. As the law or any attempt in self righteousness through keeping the law should bring a person to a place of brokenness in humility awaiting the savior through faith. Paul would tell us that before the law was given Abraham was accounted righteous through faith in believing. Faith in believing in the promise of God that He would provide himself a sacrifice, a savior as atonement for all sin and transgression of those who would draw the breath of life. We were created by God for fellowship and worship, this can only be accomplished by faith in believing our souls are damned to eternal torment unless we bow down and worship Him.

GENTRY COUNTY K-9
Well, itʼs that time again. As most of you know, the Gentry County K-9 unit is funded by donations. Weʼre hoping to get an earlier start this year and not be scrambling right before training time. With that being said, I want to thank our biggest supporters, Last Chance Relocators and Midwest Creations. These two companies have donated several thousand dollars and a lot of time to supporting K-9 Jesse. We also want to thank everybody who has donated and helped us have a successful 2022 year!
Going forward, weʼre looking at new ways to raise money. Without the publicʼs help, this would not be possible. We are open to ideas for fundraisers. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. We have looked into the idea of selling shirts throughout the year. And, as always, any monetary donations can be dropped off to the Gentry County Clerk, or to any Sheriffʼs Deputy. Thank you again, and we are looking forward to serving Gentry County in the 2023 year.
